I love doing these "one stamp, 3 coloring methods" blog posts because they allow me to color so much and coloring is my jam! I especially enjoy seeing how a stamp looks colored with my 3 favorites - colored pencils, copics, and karin brushmarkers. Here is an image of the stamp set I used called All Leaves cling stamp by SSS:
I always pick a stamp that has a lot of areas to color. Here are images of the 3 card fronts colored. I'll show you the cards I made with each and give you directions after these images.
Colored Pencils:
I stamped the All Leaves cling stamp on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink. I colored all of the leaves in with colored pencils. I use a combo of several kinds. If you have ANY questions on what I use and/or what I prefer, please ask and I will do a write up about it. Pencils take the most time, but I also really enjoy coloring with pencils. Did I mention coloring is my jam?!?!?! I used the SSS A2 largest thin frame die to cut my piece to be the right size to mat on a card base. Then I spent an hour trying to decide which color of cardstock it looked best on!
I used the Thankful For You die for the sentiment. I die-cut it from white and two colors of cardstock and layered them. I love how you can use a different color for the frame and the letters on this one. I attached some of the Autumn Mix sequins from the last card kit and some Mustard Gold Nuvo Drops around the sentiment.
I embossed the stamp on white cardstock with SSS Antique Gold embossing powder. I then colored the leaves in with Copic markers. I really love embossing images as it makes it so easy to color inside the lines! I think the intensity of the copic colors look really good. I included some green leaves on all of theses and realized later that they should ALL be oranges, not green. But when you live in CA, you don't know what Fall leaves look like!
I used the CZ Clean Line Gratitude stamps and dies for the sentiment. I stamped it with Antique Gold Embossing Powder and then used Leaf Green for the heart in the stamp set. I included a little leaf I had from a past card leftover. I used some more of the Autumn Mix sequins. I always struggle with where to put my sequins - does anyone else?
You know you have done a bad job editing your photos when the same paper has a different color tone on all 3 cards! For this one, I stamped the image on Arches watercolor paper with SSS Intense Black Ink. I used Karin Brushmarkers to paint the leaves. Sometimes I struggle staying inside the lines with these markers. I find they are the easiest to use when I emboss the images! I decided to color the background of this one with brown Copic markers so I could cover all my mistakes!
I used the Warm Hugs die. I used a piece of watercolor paper I had painted with Tonic Shimmer Powders. It has a really pretty sheen to it. If I don't have the right color, I just mix them. I mixed Catherine Wheel with Solar Flare. I've said before that I paint a bunch of mixed media paper with shimmer powders to use for die-cuts, so when I am making a card, I just pull out the color I need. I like to have things like this prepped and they are really fun to paint!
I must know what your favorite is! I'm always so curious what others like. From Instagram where I get more comments, it seems like people usually like the Copics the best on the 3 posts I've done like this. I think I like the copics best on this one also! Have a great weekend friends! xoxo suzy
