Today's collaboration stamp set for STAMPtember is between Simon Says Stamp and SugarPea Designs. It is called Shiver Me Timbers and is also sold as a bundle Shiver Me Timbers and Dies. Here is an image of the stamp and die:
I wasn't familiar with this stamp company, so this is the first time I have used their stamps. I adored this cute little pirate set. I wanted to make a slim-line card with it, so I started by stamping all of the images on a white cardstock card front with MFT Natural Ink with no idea what I would do for the background.
I colored all of the images in with colored pencils, and like I said when I stamped them, I had no idea what to do next. I just spaced them out in a way I thought I could create a scene around them. After that, I googled pirate cards and pirate scenes trying to come up with an idea as to what to draw. I drew lines with a pencil for the background and then colored it in with Copic markers.
I was so happy with how it turned out that I might have to start creating my own backgrounds more often. I did find an image that I based this off of (but made mine original and different) so that helped a lot in figuring out how to draw this. I used a white Uniball gel pen for the spots on the water. I stamped the sentiment on a small banner with SSS Antique Gold embossing powder.
Then I went a little crazy with my Nuvo drops as I always do! I used Yellow Glitter drops on the sun. I used some green metallic drops on the mountains. I used white drops on the clouds. And I used some gold and bronze drops for the "coins" in the treasure chest. I also used some glitter drops as lines on the ocean. I'll link all of the colors I used in the supply list. I added some PPP gold jewels on the sides of the sentiment banner.
I hope you liked this slim-line card and it inspired you to create your own backgrounds when needed. My favorite designer who does this is Amy Young (look her up on IG) as she does just the most amazing job with Copics on all her backgrounds. Have a great week friends and if you are interested in this Shiver Me Timbers stamp set, act fast as they are selling out very quickly. Thanks for the visit! Suzy
