Today's STAMPtember collaboration with Simon Says Stamp is The Greeting Farm. This month has given me such a great introduction to so many stamping companies that I had never used before. This is one of those examples. I wasn't sure about it when I first looked at it. But once I started coloring, I was a big fan. The big heads give you LOTS of hair to color and it was a challenge, but so much fun! The stamp set is called Got Cake and is also sold with a die Got Cake Stamp and Die bundle. Here is an image:
Here is my card using these little cuties also called "Got Cake?":
I spent WAY too much time on this card, but not with the coloring - that went fairly fast. But picking out the patterned paper for the background of the card was SO time consuming. I have a lot of paper. And I wanted it to be just perfect. And I couldn't make a decision. Since all my kids moved out, all I had is my husband or 2 dogs to help me. So husband came through and ended 2 hours of paper sorting with this choice. I was very impressed as I really like it. Go Tom! It lended itself to a bonding moment with the husband, so thank you The Greeting Farm!
Ok, back to the directions. I started by stamping the images with MFT Natural Ink on white cardstock. I then colored them in with colored pencils. I went onto The Greeting Farm's IG to see how others had colored their hair and I tried to imitate the pros on there. Next, I drew a line for the ground with a pencil and colored the floor and the wall with Copics. Unfortunately the wall was too close in color to the floor and didn't look good. So I cut it off and that is where the search for the perfect patterned paper came in. I wasn't about to start over on coloring these girls!
Like I said, my husband picked out the paper I used because he said it was confetti for the birthday theme. Yep! So I glued my card onto it and stamped the sentiment on the bottom with black in. Now I had a problem of having cut off the decorations on my cake ever so carefully and I put them aside as to not lose them. But then I lost them. Someday they will turn up, but I decided to stop looking and create my own cake decorations to fill in the spot between the two girls.
I used a new set of sequins I had purchased from the Little Things From Lucy's Cards line called Oriental Lily sequin mix. I pulled three flowers out of it. I first glued down three sequins in a medium size (6mm) so I could glue the flowers on top of them to keep them upright. It worked! I used PPP yellow jewels in the center of each. I glued twine as the flower stems. I used glitter Nuvo drops on the cake frosting and the strawberry.
I strongly recommend this darling stamp set if you like to color. I can't wait to try them again with Copics or watercolors for a different look, but this time I won't spend hours on picking out a patterned paper! If you like this set it is a limited supply so the links are here: Got Cake stamp set and Got Cake stamp and die. Thanks for visiting. We have only 2 more collaboration sets this month! Suzy xoxoxo
