Today is the release of the SSS STAMPtember special edition card kit. This might be my favorite card kit ever from Simon. The stamp set is just SO ME - it is a 6x8 set called Freestyle Florals and can be purchased alone and there are also a set of matching dies! It's whimsical playful doodled looking flowers with the most awesome font for the sentiments and these great little flat strips to put behind them. Above are my five cards and here is an image of the kit:
CARD 1:
I used one of the patterned papers in the kit which are all really great subtle patterns perfect for cards (if you can call this subtle haha). I loved the black and white on this piece with that super cool 3D looking pattern. I used the SSS A2 frame dies to die-cut it one size smaller than a card base and attached it to a white card.
Now the fun part started - I stamped the wreath floral image on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink and I colored it in with colored pencils. I stamped the "hello friend" sentiment on the inside of the wreath and then I cut around the outside edges and attached it to the top of my card. I stamped the longest flat strip stamp with SSS Hot Mama ink - these inks are great as I stamped them twice with my Misti and then as they dried, all of the areas filled in that weren't covered perfectly. I cut around the edges and then embossed the sentiment on the top of it with white embossing powder. I attached that to the bottom of the card. I added some of the little epoxy hearts in the kit around the wreath and on both sides of the sentiment. I also added some sparkling clear sequins around the wreath.
CARD 2:
This is my "random stamping" card that I always include. I used the flowers that were alone in the set and stamped them with MFT Natural Ink on a piece of card size white cardstock. I then used a really fine tip black pen to outline them twice in a doodled fashion as I like this look. I colored them in with Copics. I'm using my Copics a lot lately and I love them again! You could take the easier route and just stamp these flowers with black ink to simplify this process. But the outlining is part of the fun for me!
I used the MFT A2 Rectangle Frames to die-cut this frame. I lined up the largest and second largest on a piece of the paper in the kit and then used the piece between the two which is thinner than the actual frames. I love that these frame dies can be used this way as it gives you more size options. I attached that over my card front. Next, I stamped the longer banner stamp with Coral Reef ink and the smaller banner with Audrey Blue ink. I dried them with my heat gun first and then stamped the sentiments with black ink and dried that again. I used the clear embossing powder in the kit with the same flat stamps over them to add shine. I love that you can make any colored ink look embossed with this technique. I added two of the little hearts and 3 sparkling clear sequins around the sentiment.
CARD 3:
I die-cut a piece of Ranger Watercolor paper with one of the SSS Nested Oval dies. I embossed the flower stamp with white embossing powder. I painted it with Nuvo Shimmer Powders. I also flicked some over it while it was still wet so they blended into the water. Then I flicked more on it once it was dry so they stayed in place! I die-cut the pretty rosy paper from the kit with the same SSS A2 largest frame die and mounted it on a white card base. I attached the oval over the center.
I stamped the largest banner flat stamp with Doll Pink ink. Then I stamped the sentiment with white embossing powder. This was before I realized I should dry the ink before I poured embossing powder on as it attached to places on the ink since it is a hybrid ink pad. I liked how it looked this way though, but do dry your ink first before embossing over it. I attached that over the flower stems and used some sparkling clear sequins around it. I also used some of the hearts from the kit (on all 5 of my cards and I still have lots left!).
CARD 4:
There are 4 of my birthday watercolor cards in this kit from the Suzy's Watercolor Card Birthday 1 set that was sold 2 releases ago. I cut the flowers out of one of them and I colored them in with Copic markers (yes they work just fine on this watercolor paper). I then embossed a sentiment from the stamp set on the vase using SSS Mermaid Blue embossing powder.
I added some Nuvo Drops around the vase and flowers with Copper Penny, Mustard Gold, and Moroccan Red.
CARD 5:
This turtle is from another one of my watercolor cards included in the kit. I cut him out also so I could use the stamp set for the sentiment. I colored him in with Copics as well (what is with me and my Copics lately!?!?!?!). I attached him to another one of the papers in the kit die-cut with the same A2 frame die.
I stamped two of the flat banner stamps with Teeny Bikini ink and stamped the sentiments over the dried ink with black ink. I also die-cut a sentiment from the sentiment sheet included in the kit with the SSS Sentiment Label dies. I attached all three on the top right. I again used some of the hearts and also used white Nuvo drops around the image and as dots on all of the packages. I used glitter drops over the bows on the packages.
Just a reminder that this is a special edition card kit and when the inventory is gone, it won't be re-stocked. So if you are interested in it, I advise you to act quickly! The kit is HERE and the Freestyle Floral stamp set is HERE. I hope you enjoyed my "one stamp, five ways" post today and come back daily for all my Stamptember collaboration blog posts! Thanks so much for visiting! Suzy
