Today's collaboration stamp set is called Holiday Bells and is by Avery Elle with Simon Says Stamp. I haven't used Avery Elle stamps much in my history of stamping. At first I was bothered a little by the writing and the craziness/messiness of the illustration in this stamp. I like things perfect and can't do messy. But then when I started playing with it, I fell absolutely in love with it. I want to make so many more cards with it as I didn't get a chance to use the flat stamps. I think the whimsical doodled look is what makes it so darling and it made me wish I could draw like this instead of thinking every thing has to be perfectly lined up. I guess this is a problem for left brained artists! Is anyone reading this? I always wonder hahahaha! After all that rambling, here is an image of today's stamp set:
See how cute it is? I didn't use the greenery either yet. But I went crazy with the ornaments and they were so fun to decorate!
I stamped and embossed the Holiday Bells ornaments over and over randomly turning them every direction using Nuvo Silver embossing powder and Ranger watercolor paper. If you like making puzzles (left brained me again), this technique is really fun to do and that's why I do it with almost every stamp set I use! I then used one of my all time favorite products of all time Nuvo Shimmer Powders. I painted the ornaments with them using less water so the colors were more intense. And then I painted the background around them with lots more water. I flicked some over the card as well and I wasn't sure I liked the look of the flicks. If you do it like I did when the card is still wet they bleed outward. If you wait until it dries, you get nice little spots. Lesson learned!
As if the shimmer powders weren't shimmery enough, I added Tonic Nuvo Drops over them - I used glitter ones which are my Nuvo drops that I get the most use out of. I kept it a thin layer so the pretty colors showed underneath. I stamped the sentiment on a SSS Sentiment Banner die with the same Nuvo Silver embossing powder. Then I added some PPP silver jewels and lots of drops with the glitter nuvo drops. I can never keep things simple! It looked the most pretty when the background was still white and the ornaments were just painted without anything else on it!
Do you like this funky stamp set? Whether it's your style or not, it is really fun to play with. So many choices to decorate your own ornaments. I think my granddaughter will enjoy creating some ornaments with it as well! This is an exclusive stamp set and when it is gone, it is gone so here is one more link: Holiday Bells.
Thanks for visiting and have a nice weekend friends! suzy
