Hey fellow card makers! Today is a little blog hop promoting the SSS August Card Kit called Picnic Parade. I did a "one stamp, five ways" blog post using this kit when it was first released. Here is a link to that post in case you want to check it out. Here are the five cards I made for that post with the kit:
I have a new card to share with you for the blog hop today. Here are the images and directions:
I started by cutting card length strips of all of the papers in the kit. They are so cute and colorful that I really want to show them off! I then wove them together and attached them to a piece of cardstock. I used my sewing machine to stitch along the edges of this piece, but my machine was acting up and the stitching look horrible. It couldn't do much about it as the papers took a while to weave, so I just went with it. I guess I need to fix my tension! I attached this piece to a white card base with foam tape.
I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set with embossing ink and embossed it with Carnation Red embossing powder. I stamped the sun with Sunflower embossing powder and watercolored the yellow area. I added some Nuvo Glitter Drops over it to look like a glittery sun (although it looks more like an egg yolk haha). I attached both pieces to the front of the card. I added some red and yellow Nuvo drops and some sparkling clear sequins to finish the card.

I think your "wonky" stitching looks great on this card. It looks like you did it on purpose. Great job.

Cute card. I love the woven strips. Great way to use up scraps. With your stitching it reminds me of a bright, cheery patchwork quilt. Thanks for the great inspiration.

Great sunny cards! I thought the shaker card was my favorite until I saw the last card with the woven strips. I think they are tied. :) Thanks for all the great inspiration!

I really am enjoying this hop! The release is wonderful and I'm glad it is still for summer and bright! (Halloween and Christmas are wonderful, but I'm not done with sunshine and gardening yet) beautiful cards. Did you color that "You're Invited" BBQ tornado card or is that paper I absolutely adore that!!

The woven one reminds me of placemats we made in elementary school. I LOVED THEM. I am going to try this with just the right papers. THANKS

Great idea to weave the papers, looks like a picnic placemat. I would’ve thought the “wonky” stitching was intentional if you hadn’t said anything 😉🤣😍

Holy hotcakes! You have SO many offerings for us here. I absolutely LOVE the card in yellow, white and blue w/ the cloud in upper left and sun in upper right. I also think the plaid background card (top card of post) is spectacular. I love the BBQ, if only I could host one in 2020. :( But the card is terrific. I did not even notice the stitching that apparently bothered you until I read your description.
You hit it out of the park, woman!! Way to go!!!

Sewing machines and their tension issues! Mine sees me coming and starts acting up! :) I think it all looks absolutely PERFECT! I love the stitching and the paper weaving is fabulous!

I like the loose stitching- it worked with the fun array of woven cardstock, which in itself is a great technique I forget about. Thanks for the reminder and the inspiration!
