Hello My Friends! Today is the newest release by Simon Says Stamp called Let's Connect. I'll be sharing a "one Stamp, Five Ways" with you today using a cling background stamp I illustrated called Drawn Daisies. This was meant to take after one of my recent watercolor cards that was in the Suzy's Spring Flowers WC Cards as well as the March 2020 Card Kit. Here is the card that was previously released and the new stamp set for comparison (I added some leaves and lengthened the stems):
I have 5 cards made with this image as well as two I had made with the original watercolor card to share with you today so let's get started!
CARD 1:
I stamped the Drawn Daisy cling stamp with black ink on white cardstock. I colored it in with Copic markers which I also used for the soft blue background. I did add a little additional shading with colored pencils. Because I couldn't stop myself. haha I am enjoying using my Copics a little more lately though, but I do find some extra shading with the pencils makes me like them even more!
I die-cut the piece with the SSS A2 largest frame die and attached it to a burnt orange cardstock card base. I stamped the sentiment with black ink using the Follow the Rainbows stamp set (very applicable for right now) on the SSS Sentiment Label dies. I layered the one I stamped on with one a little bigger from the same cardstock as the card base. I added some PPP sparkling clear sequins and some Studio Katia iridescent tiny bubbles (aren't they so cute???).
CARD 2:
Shockingly, I also used my Copic markers for this card. I decided to stamp the Drawn Daisies stamp set on just half of the card running horizontally with black ink on white cardstock. I then colored it in with Copics including the blue background. I flicked some white paint over the background. I die-cut this piece with the SSS A2 largest frame die and attached it to a white card base.
I die-cut the CZ Like You die from both white and purple cardstock. I attached those to the bottom of the card in the open area. I then stamped a small word stamp from the CZ Like You Words stamp set on a SSS Sentiment Label die. I attached that above the like you words. I added some PPP sparkling clear sequins around the sentiment.
CARD 3:
For this card, I stamped the Drawn Daisies with MFT Natural Ink on white cardstock and colored the flowers in with colored pencils. I use a mix of several different kinds of pencils and have strong preferences on the ones I like (including Prismacolors, Faber Catelle Polychromos, Caran d'Ache Pablos and Luminance). I die-cut this piece with the SSS A2 largest frame die again (I use this to size it and then throw away the frame). I attached it to a green cardstock base.
I stamped a sentiment form the SSS Beautiful Butterflies stamp set using Ranger Leaf Green embossing powder. I added some of the Studio Katia iridescent tiny bubbles on the petals.
CARD 4:
I stamped the Drawn Daisies on Fabriano watercolor paper with MFT Natural Ink. I used my new Karin Brushmarkers to color them in. I added a little bit of shading and outlines with pencils because I have an issue. I covered much of my coloring up by using the SSS Thin Circle Frame die over it.
I used the CZ Miss You die for the sentiment. The card base and the words are die-cut from Lawn Fawn Guava cardstock which is one of my all time favorite colors of cardstock from anyone! I think I use it more than any other color as it is a mix of pink and red - just the perfect in-between! I added some sparkling clear sequins. Because again, I just can't stop myself!
CARD 5:
I had made a card that looked much like this one with the watercolor card earlier this year. I loved it, so I wanted to use a similar technique for the background. First I stamped it on Ranger WC paper with white embossing powder. I then painted the leaves and the flowers with my Karin Brushmarkers. I painted the background with Nuvo Shimmer Powders in Lilac Waterfall, Violet Brocade, Blue Blitz, and Meteorite Shower. I wet the area liberally and then paint different ones here and there letting the colors mix. I add lots of layers until I build up the amount of color I want. It is easier doing this with the embossed flowers so the color doesn't go inside the lines.
I flicked white paint all over the background. I embossed a sentiment with white embossing powder also from the SSS Beautiful Butterflies stamp set. I added some sparkling clear sequins.
Previously colored cards from the original watercolor card from the Suzy's Spring Flowers set:
This version was printed with black ink while my new one above was embossed with white embossing powder. They both use the same colors of Shimmer Powders for the backgrounds. Below they are both together. Which do you prefer?
That's it for today, but come back on Friday for the first day of a 2 day blog hop. I'll be sharing my newest watercolor card set called Birthday Watercolor Prints with all of them painted. Have a great day and go HERE to shop the new release. Thank you so much for visiting today! Suzy
HERE IS THE ENTIRE NEW RELEASE: (below is a list of products I used on this blog post)
I love all these cards! I wish you had a video so I could see how you colored the two toned daisies. But I already ordered the stamp - guess I’ll be playing around with it a lot! And I liked the white embossing powder more than the black ink. Thanks for giving me more ideas for what I thought would be used as a tone on tone background!

I love how you built on your previous daisy design; the added leaves fill things in more, and the longer stems provide more options for how much or how little the flowers "encroach" on the card itself. Lovely coloring, regardless of medium, and your designs, as always, beautiful! Thanks so much and stay safe!

Wow! First of all, thank you for inspiring me and us with the many fantastic, beautiful card creations. I love the daisies and the background coloring. Re the last 2 cards, I prefer the black outlined flowers. Just makes the card pop a bit more.
