Hi friends. Today is the My Favorite Things new release for August. I have two slim-line cards to share with you today. I love creating scenes on the slim-line size and shape with cute critter or little people stamps. I used the new Birdie Brown set called Adorable Adventures and the new Stacey Yacula stamp set called Happy Campers for my two cards.
CARD 1:
I start my slim-line cards with a piece of 8.5x11" cardstock. I cut off a strip of 7" first and fold it in half lengthwise for the card base. I then cut off 1" of the remaining piece so I have a 3.5x8.5" piece for the card front. For this card, I used Distress Oxide Inks for the background. I cut a hill shape first out of cardstock to use as a mask for the sky and the grass. I used the new Rolling Clouds Stencil on the sky with Tumbled Glass Ink. It's so light that it washed out in the photo! I used Mowed Lawn for the grass. I then splattered it with some water and some green watercolors.
I stamped all of the images from the Adorable Adventures stamp set with MFT Natural Ink - my favorite no-line stamping ink of all time that I use on every card I make! I colored them in with colored pencils. I added some Morning Dew Nuvo Drops to the glasses and some White Blizzard Nuvo drops to the top of the mountains. I then attached them all to the front of the card with foam tape behind some of the pieces to create some depth in the scene.
I stamped the little words on the wood sign (before I attached it of course!). I used black ink to stamp the sentiment on the top of the card. I used some more Morning Dew Nuvo Drops on the magnifying glass.
CARD 2:
I made the base of this card the same way as the last card (standard slim-line dimensions). I used Copics on the background of this one. First I stamped the little mountains along the top of the card with black ink. Then I colored the dirt, mountains, and sky with Copics. I added little white stars with a white Uniball. NOTE: I only colored the dirt. My amazingly talented daughter colored the mountains and the sky and she wanted credit. And deserves it. She is my youngest and is leaving ME for college in 2 weeks and I'm freaking out. So much for having a sous-crafter!
I stamped all of the images from the Happy Campers stamp set with black ink this time. I rarely use black ink as I don't like the dark outlines, but the Stacey Yacula images have such fine lines that I actually like the black outline on her stamps. I colored them all in with colored pencils. My daughter/assistant added some Nuvo glitter drops on the fire and the top of the mountains.
I stamped the sentiment with embossing ink and used SSS Steel Navy embossing powder on the bottom of the card.
I hope you enjoyed these cards today and are loving the NEW RELEASE as much as I am! So many cute items in this one, especially if you love HW! Happy crafting and please stay safe and well! Love and hugs to all! Suzy
