Today is the new My Favorite Things release which you can see in full HERE. I have two slim-line birthday cards to share with you today using two of the new stamp sets called Pawty Time by Stacey Yacula and Picture Perfect Party Animals. Here is a photo of the two cards together:
CARD 1:
My first card is made using the Stacey Yacula stamp set called Pawty Time.
To make a slim-line card, I cut 7" from a piece of 8.5" x 11" cardstock. I fold that over for the card base. I cut the leftover piece to be 3.5" wide and I use that for the front of the card. I then have a 1" strip left over. I die-cut the frame on this card using the Pink Fresh Studio Slim Diagonal Line Frame die from white cardstock. I created the background for my scene on the piece of white cardstock that I cut. I cut through a piece of scrap paper with a swirly line to use as a "stencil" for my ground/sky. I used Distress Oxide Inks and my brushes to apply the inks to the sky and the ground. I flecked white paint and yellow and teal watercolor over the background to give it a spotty look.
I stamped all of the images from the stamp set on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink for a no-line look. I colored them all in with colored pencils using a color theme of aqua, red, and yellow. I did three separate pieces of the twirls at the top of the card, one in each color. I didn't have the dies, so I fussy-cut all of the designs out. If you can't afford buying dies for all the stamps you want, I think cutting them is so easy and saves so much money (for more stamp sets of course!).
I attached all of the cut out stamp designs to the front of the card. I stamped the sentiment from the set with black ink on the top of the card. I layered the three colors of the twirly banner across the top. I finished it with LOTS of Nuvo Glitter Drops over just about everything. I also used some drops around the background to add to the party feel of this card!
CARD 2:
My second card uses the Birdie Brown stamp set called Picture Perfect Party Animals.
I made this card the same way as the one above. I used the Pink Fresh Slim Stitched Rectangle die-cut for the frame on this one. I took the card front piece of cardstock and I rubbed Distress Oxide Ink on it in Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry. I then flicked white, bright pink, and black paint over it for a very speckled look!
I stamped the three stamps from the set on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink. I colored them in with colored pencils. I decided to add small black dots to the background of each around the animals. I thought it added a fun look to each of the squares. I cut around each one leaving a small white border.
I attached the three squares to the card front leaving more room at the bottom for the sentiment. I had to cut this stamp in two pieces so I could use it across the bottom of the card. I stamped it with black ink. I added some Nuvo Drops in Sherbet Shimmer and Glossy White. I think these stamps are SO cute and I still have the other 3 to color and use, so perhaps I'll make a second slim-line card with them. The three squares fit perfectly across the front of the card!
You can see the entire new MFT release HERE. There are so many cute products to pick from, but these two stamp sets I used above are definitely my favorites from this release! Thanks so much for visiting today. I have listed al of the products I used for these cards below with links to both the MFT store as well as the Simon Says Stamp store. Have a great week and please be careful and stay well! Hugs to all! Suzy
You made me wish I bought the picture perfect party animals - they fit so nicely on the long card.
