Today I have a "one stamp, five ways" post using the brand new Simon Says Stamp release called Crafty Hugs. I picked a stamp that is totally me called So Beautiful. Here is an image of the stamp:
It is a 6x6 cling stamp with an unattached sentiment illustrated by Shari Carroll. This is a different type of cling stamp since it isn't really a background as most of them are. I wanted to use it because I love the doodled look of the flowers. Here are my five cards:
CARD 1: You Are So Beautiful
For this card, I stamped the floral stamp on watercolor paper using MFT Natural Ink. I the painted it with watercolors. I usually use my Daniel Smith watercolors, but I've also been using some watercolor pencils lately to add more shading. I always like playing with new supplies!
I die-cut a circle from the SSS Shimmer Wreath double circle die out of the top of a card size piece of white cardstock. I then attached that over my painted design to create a frame. I embossed the sentiment that comes with the stamp with Ranger Pink Peony embossing powder. I added 3 Sparkling Clear Sequins above the sentiment (I honestly never know where to put my sequins!).
CARD 2: Thinking of You
I stamped the floral design on white cardstock again (vertical this time so some overlapped the edges) with MFT Natural Ink. I could have stamped it with black ink as I wanted the flowers to have a black outline. I wanted to draw black lines myself so I could do two outlines with a very fine pen so they looked more doodled. I then colored all the flowers in with Copic Markers (wow, I actually made myself use something other than watercolors or colored pencils!).
I always use the same colors - pinks, blues, and yellows, so I tried to think out of the box on this one. I went with purples and aquas. I found a "thinking of you" sentiment from I'm not sure what stamp set and I stamped it in black ink on a strip from the SSS Sentiment Label set (that I use constantly). I attached that to the bottom of the card and added some Sparkling Clear Sequins with Amethyst and Caribbean Blue Jewels in the center of them.
CARD 3: Thank You
This is a slim-line card so it is 3.5" x 8.5". I cut a piece of white cardstock for the front of the card and I used the PinkFresh Studio slanted line frame die to matte it on red cardstock (this required me to trim it slightly to fit). I stamped the floral stamp set on one side of the card front with black ink. I then covered part of the design by stamping it on scrap paper and cutting around just the part I wanted to block on the edge. I stamped it again on the right side of the card with black ink overlapping the first one (with the blocked images).
I colored all of the flowers in with colored pencils. Again, I tried to break out of my floral go to colors and used reds and oranges and yellows (so not me, but I love here). I stamped a sentiment from a SSS stamp set I had in my stash using Carnation Red embossing powder. I added some sparkling clear sequins.
CARD 4: Sunnier Days Are Coming
This card is my favorite because it is so soft. I stamped the floral stamp on white cardstock again with MFT Natural Ink again I colored it in with colored pencils (again), but this time I tried to use them in softer way leaving some white space on the flowers. I love the way it turned out - I should use a softer touch more often!
I stamped a sentiment from the SSS Greetings Mix 1 stamp set with black ink. I wanted to add sequins or something to finish it, but I resisted and left it plain (SO HARD FOR ME TO DO) so it was a one layer flat card. I'll probably still add them at some point because I simply can't resist! ha
CARD 5: Miss You
This time I stamped the floral stamp on watercolor paper with white embossing powder. I painted it with watercolors in pinks and yellows. I also painted the background with very watered down color for a soft look.
I framed it with two overlapping frames. The pink is from a Hello Bluebird scene die (they have many with these frames outlining them and they are the perfect size to overlap the other frame). The white frame is from the MFT A2 Rectangle Frames. I used the CZ "miss you" die for the sentiment by layering two to make it have more depth. You don't want to know how many different colors of cardstock I tried using for the frame and the sentiment - I just couldn't decide what to do, but this is what I ended up with. Not sure I went the right direction though - haha. I added some sparkling clear sequins.
Tomorrow (Friday, March 29th) and the next day are blog hops using the new Crafty Hugs Release so please come back to visit me (that's in about 12 hours from now haha!). I hope you are having a safe and healthy time at home for the past couple months and enjoying your extra time to craft! Thank you so much for visiting today! Suzy

I really liked the slim line card. It takes you out of doing the same type of cards all the time. I did really like the card with the miss you die cut

These are all so beautiful but Aqua and Lavender are my relaxing colors so that's my favorite followed by all the rest. My stamp came yesterday and I can't wait to use it.
