Today I have a "one stamp, five ways" post using the Simon Says Stamp May card kit called Beautiful Butterflies. As usual, I focus on the stamp set which is also called Beautiful Butterflies and sold alone. There are dies for the stamp set as well, although I didn't have them, so mine are fussy cut (and you can tell!). You can also buy the paper alone and it is so gorgeous - I used it on a few of my cards. Here is an image of the kit:
My first card uses my favorite technique I call "random stamping". I've told you before and I'll say it once again; I love puzzles which is why I enjoy this technique. It's fun moving the images around to find the best fit possible! I used the 5 butterflies from the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set in the set and stamped them with black ink. I colored them all in with colored pencils. I was trying to keep them subdued so they matched the soft colors in the kit papers, but I couldn't do it. My bright colored preferences popped out once again!
I die-cut this piece with the largest SSS A2 rectangle die (discarded the frame). I attached it to a black cardstock base. I used the SSS Sentiment Labels for the greeting with white embossing powder. I added some PPP Sparkling Clear Sequins around the sentiment.
CARD 2:
This card takes advantage of the gorgeous papers in this kit. I used the cream cardstock in the kit for the card base. I used two of the papers in the kit (die-cut with the same SSS A2 die) for the front of the card layering them with a piece of black/white ribbon between. I embossed the sentiment on the bottom left corner with white embossing powder.
I stamped the three butterflies with black ink and colored them in with colored pencils. This time I was able to keep the colors the shades in the papers. I glued just the centers of them and slightly bent their wings up. I added some Sparkling Clear Sequins.
CARD 3:
I used some of my favorite Fabriano watercolor paper for the base of this card. I die-cut it with the same A2 frame die. I embossed the five butterflies with white embossing powder. I then painted over it with Tonic Nuvo Shimmer Powder in Atlantis Burst. I used more color inside the butterflies and then flicked some on the background while still wet.
I die-cut the smallest rectangle in the SSS Stitched Rectangle dies from white cardstock. I embossed the sentiment from the stamp set using Ranger Garden Pantina embossing powder. I added some Caribbean Sea PPP jewels around the sentiment.
CARD 4:
I started by die-cutting the large double stitched circle using the SSS Shimmer Wreath die cut from a coral cardstock card base. I attached vellum to the inside of the circle. I used the same die to cut a circle from the butterfly patterned paper and inserted that on the inside of the card right under the circle. I embossed the sentiment on a SSS Sentiment Banner with Brutus Monroe Coral embossing powder. I attached that to the bottom of the card over a black/white ribbon strip.
I stamped the butterfly with black ink on white cardstock and I colored it in with colored pencils. I rubbed the Gina K Glitz Iridescent Glitter Gel from the kit over the butterfly and let dry. I then bent his/her wings up and glued just the body of the butterfly onto the center of the vellum circle. I added some Sparkling Clear Sequins.
CARD 5:
I started by stamping three of the butterflies in black ink on white cardstock. I then colored them in with colored pencils. This time I used my Luminance pencils by Caran 'd Ache. They are the most expensive pencils and I don't have all the colors, but I really love them. They are very opaque and put down very dense color. I just used three colors, but they blend really well together so I just layered them over each other. I cut out each of the three butterflies. This time I used very intense jewel tones.
I stamped the SSS Deco Diamonds cling stamp with MFT Natural Ink and colored it in with colored pencils. I did this some time ago and had saved it to use on cards - I actually have been able to use this on 3 different cards by cutting smaller pieces. I used a piece for the bottom of the card.
I then used white cardstock die-cut with the SSS Twisted Stitched border die along the bottom edge. I embossed the sentiment on the top center of this piece using SSS Steel Navy embossing powder. I attached the three butterflies with wings up on the white piece. And of course, I added some sparkling clear sequins to finish it!
I hope you enjoyed these cards today. This Beautiful Butterflies kit is a gorgeous one and is perfect for celebrating Spring! Thank you so much for visiting today. All of the products I used in this post on listed below linked to the SSS store. Stay well and sending hugs and blessings to all! xoxo Suzy
Always enjoy your cards and you are the queen of colored pencils in my opinion :)
