Hello friends! Today I have a "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you using the BRAND NEW special edition card kit by Simon Says Stamp called Celebrating Mothers. These special edition kits sell out fast - just a warning because I care about you and what you want - hahaha (but true). This kit has a beautiful stamp set that I focused on called Mom's Meadow. Here is an image of the kit and the stamp set:
CARD 1:
I started this card by stamping the large grouping of flowers in the stamp set on the top and the bottom with white embossing powder. I added some of the smaller flowers to fill in around the grouping. I left some area in the center for the greeting. I used Fabriano watercolor paper as it is my all time favorite when I want my watercolors to do their best job! I painted the entire piece with Daniel Smith watercolors. I added a wash of the same colors used on the background and spattered some blue paint over the entire thing.
I stamped the sentiment on a rectangle from the SSS A2 Thin Frames die set using Wendy Vecchi Garden Patina embossing powder. I used a light blue cardstock for the inside as it (sort of) matched my background and then I used a dark teal for the frame and for the card base. I use the largest frame rectangle from this set to die-cut my card bases to be just one size smaller than a card, but I don't use the frame over it usually. I added some PPP sparkling clear sequins.
CARD 2:
This card is SO bright! It even shocked me with it's amount of color and I always use a lot! I used a paper pad from one of my recent SSS card kits by Whimsy Stamps called Rainbow. I die cut a piece of white cardstock for the top of the card using the SSS Twisted Stitch border die for the bottom edge. I attached that over the paper for the card front. I embossed the sentiment from the stamp set with Wendy Vecchi Cactus Flower embossing powder.
I stamped all of the flowers in the stamp set with MFT Natural Ink on white cardstock. I colored them all in with colored pencils. I cut around the edges and arranged them over the white cardstock under the sentiment. I added some sparkling clear sequins to finish the card.
CARD 3:
This was my favorite card, but I'm not sure the photo does it justice. I started with a white cardstock base and I used the SSS Thin Circle Frames to die-cut three circles. I painted a piece to go behind it with Tonic Shimmer Powders. I embossed the three sentiments in each circle with white embossing powder. I embossed the word "Mother" on the top using WOW Royal Crush embossing powder.
I stamped a whole bunch of the 3 butterflies in the stamp set with MFT Natural Ink on white cardstock. I colored them all in with colored pencils. I then applied Tonic Nuvo Drops in glitter colors (see supply list) to make them shimmery. I attached them around each circle. I added some sparkling clear sequins again to finish it!
CARD 4:
This is my "random stamped" background card. I stamped all of the small elements in the stamp set randomly on a piece of white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink. I tend to prefer no outlines when I color, so that is why I always use that ink - it is the perfect color to color over without showing through. I used colored pencils again to color them all. These type of backgrounds take a little time, but I have a little time on my hands right now and coloring is one of my all time favorite things to do! I almost always use my favorite white gel pen to add details, this time on the butterfly wings. I die-cut this piece to be a little smaller than a card base using the largest die in the SSS A2 thin frame die set.
I used the SSS Sentiment Labels to create a banner for the sentiment matching the card base color. It comes with the little V shape to use at the end of a banner. I embossed the word Mom with white embossing powder and then added one of the hearts in the kit to the edge of the banner.
CARD 5:
For this card, I die-cut a white piece and a frame using the PPP Stitched Notes die. I stamped the large floral grouping with MFT Natural Ink on the top of the white piece. I colored it in with colored pencils.
I stamped the sentiment on the bottom of this piece using Carnation Red embossing powder. It matched the paper perfectly!!! I used the little drops from the kit around the stamped image. I added some Nuvo Glitter Drops in Yellow Bird on the yellow flowers and flower centers.
I didn't use a lot of the products in the kit since I focused primarily on the stamp set. There are LOTS more things to play with as you can see in the photo at the start of this post. I hope you enjoyed my cards and that they inspire you to create with some of YOUR extra time lately. I hope you are all staying safe and healthy. Lots of love! Suzy
