Hey peeps, today I have a "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you that is full of peeps! I am using the brand new Special Edition Easter Kit by Simon Says Stamp called Cottontail Wishes. It is chock full of all things Easter. As usual, I am focusing on the stamp set which is also called Cottontail Wishes and can be purchased alone. Here is an image of the full kit:
There are several items from this kit that can be purchased alone including the Easter Basket Die, the Peeking Bunny Die, and the Grassy Edges Stencil. I now have 5 cards to share with you using the kit:
CARD 1:
My first card is a shaker card and uses the stamp set the least! I actually used all of the dies included in the kit here though! First, I die-cut a rectangle using the MFT A2 Frame Dies (largest one using the inside piece) that I painted with Shimmer Powders in Blue Blitz and Atlantis Burst. I die-cut another one of the frames from white cardstock which I attached to the front of the card. Then I attached the painted piece inside that. I die-cut another stitched rectangle just a little bit smaller than this one (any size rectangles you can layer would work fine) using white cardstock. I die-cut the Easter Basket die from the center of this rectangle. I also die-cut one 2 of the Easter Bunny Dies. I colored one pink and attached a white one over the pink one. I cut off the head and a little of the area below it and tucked it under the basket to the bunny is peeking out of the top. I added some details to the basket with a blue colored pencil.
I embossed the sentiment on the top of the card with Pink Peony embossing powder. I then added some of the gems and sequin mix under the opening and used foam tape to build up the front of the card. I used some more of the jewels on the basket. I die-cut the eggs with the egg die and colored them with colored pencils as well. The center one is from the stamp set and is stamped with MFT Natural Ink and colored with pencils.
CARD 2:
This is my "random stamped background" card, although I only used the eggs for this background. I stamped them all with black ink and colored them in with Copic Markers. I figured my markers needed a work out as they have been quite ignored lately. Public Service Announcement: Think about investing in a good colored pencil set instead of buying Copics if you haven't gone down that rabbit hole yet. You will spend way less money and you may enjoy pencils more. I have grown to love my pencils so much that my expensive set of markers don't get used much. The only issue is you have to buy new pencils when you use them up.
I stamped the bunny and egg with MFT Natural Ink on white cardstock and colored them in with colored pencils. I stamped the sentiment with the Ranger Cracked Pistachio Embossing Glaze. I didn't know about these new glazes and I kind of wish I had stayed in the dark! I do love getting products in my kits though that I am not familiar with and get to try out. I love how it is a soft color and really shiny and almost transparent. And it is such a pretty color! I used a stitched oval (this one is from MFT and I've had it forever, but any oval would work!). I added some of the gems and the stamped items around the sentiment.
CARD 3:
This is my favorite card. It is a slim-line card which I love to make as it gives me more room to create a scene. These stamps work perfectly on this card format. I started with a card base that is 3.5" x 8.5" and I also cut another piece for the front to be 1/8" smaller on all sides. I used Distress Oxide Inks on this piece for the sky. I used the grassy edges stencil and the Lucky Ink that came in the kit. Note: It matches the embossing powder perfectly! Note #2: It rubs on SO WELL - who knew you didn't have to use Distress Oxide Inks to make a nice background (prob everyone but me haha!). I embossed the sentiment with the same Ranger Embossing Glaze that came with the kit and like I said, it's a perfect match!
I stamped all of the images with MFT Natural Ink and colored them in with colored pencils. I attached them to the card front creating a scene and then I used Nuvo Glitter Drops and Jewel Drops over areas of the eggs. I also used Kaiser Glitter Pens to add details to the eggs while coloring them. I finished the card with some jewels from the kit.
CARD 4:
This card was tricky, but not hard. I die-cut a large circle die from a piece of card size scrap paper. I then attached it over a piece of cardstock for the card front. I stamped the basket stamp in the center of the circle with MFT Natural Ink. I also stamped it on some Masking Paper and cut it out. I placed that one over the stamped one. I used Distress Oxide ink for the sky and then used the Lucky Ink in the kit for the grass area. I am no pro at ink blending, but this was a fairly easy technique for me.
I removed the mask and colored in the stamped image with colored pencils. I embossed the sentiment on the bottom of the card with the embossing glaze. Again, I love how it matches the green ink so perfectly.
CARD 5:
For this card, I used all watercolors. I wanted to show different coloring mediums, so I tried one card with each of my choices - watercolors, Copics, and colored pencils. First I die-cut the Lawn Fawn Just Stitching die on a white cardstock card front. I then used watercolors to paint it with a blue sky and green grass. I embossed the sentiment from the stamp set on the top with the embossing glaze. It even showed up on the blue card front - just love this stuff and used it on almost every one of my cards!
I stamped all of the images on Ranger WC paper with MFT Natural Ink and then painted them with watercolor pencils. I never use my WC pencils and I love them. Uh oh, now I want to invest in more! They are so fun to work with as whenever I use WC now, I feel like I need to go back in with my colored pencils to add details and shading and especially to outline the images. But using these pencils gave me the best of both worlds - the sheer look of WCs and then the nice outlines and shading of pencils. I attached all of the images on the card front creating a little Easter scene. I added some PPP Sparkling Clear Sequins to finish the card.
Thank you so much for visiting today and I just want to remind you that the Special Edition kits sell out FAST. No pressure, but if you want it, don't wait as I hate missing out on things (like toilet paper at Costco right now hahahaha!). Here is one more link, or you can use the list below that includes all of the products I used in this blog post linked to the SSS store. Have a great week friends and keep those hands washed. I'm personally hoping to be stuck in my house for a while so I have an excuse to craft all day (not to make light of a serious subject, but there has to be a good side to everything, right?). Suzy xoxo
Are there dies for the bunnies?
