Today is the newest MFT release and I have two cards to share with you using the newest stamp set by Stacey Yacula called Sky High. Here is an image of it:
I think this one is so so cute (but I think ALL of her sets are so so cute which is why I work with them each month!). I wanted to make more cards with it, but I only got 2 done this time. Hopefully their cuteness factor will make this a quality over quantity post haha.
My first card is a slim-line horizontal card. The measurements are 3.5" tall x 8.5" wide. I cut another piece to fit on the front and took 1/4" off one side horizontally and vertically so it would have a 1/8th white border showing around it when the card was finished. I made the background with the best stamp set by Stacey ever that came out a few months ago called the SY Scene Builder. I stamped the grass banks/trees on the white cardstock piece with MFT Natural Ink. I colored the grass and trees with colored pencils and the sky with Copic Markers. I attached it to the front of the card base.
I stamped all of the images from the new Sky High stamp set including a few trees and clouds on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink. Just a quick infomercial on this ink - I don't really like black lines on my stamped images, so I use this ink 90% of the time (except on the next card ha!). It is the perfect color to show up enough to color, but not show up much once colored. I hope that made sense. Anyway, it is definitely my no-line coloring ink of choice. I colored the images in with colored pencils.
I used a silver Uniball gel pen for the details on the plane. I attached all of the trees along the hills and the clouds in the sky. I attached the plane and balloon and bird last. I added a couple more clouds overlapping these images. I stamped the sentiment on the bottom of the card with black ink and called it done!
CARD 2:
I colored the balloon images so bright that I wanted the background of this card to be really soft. I used the Simon Says Stamp Clouds for Days stencil and Distress Oxide Inks. I started with Tumbled Glass, then moved to Spun Sugar, and then Squeezed Lemonade. I don't know why, but I wanted the sky to be multiple colors!
I attached a frame over the card front using two sizes of rectangular frames layered. The pink one is made with the MFT A2 Rectangle Frame Dies. The white one is made with any of the Hello Bluebird Scene Die frames. They are the perfect sizes to overlap and look like a beveled edge. I went back and forth on what color frame to use and I could NOT decide. I die-cut about 6 different ones. I finally when with this look of the two layered. I seriously wasted an hour on this one decision and I'm still not sure it is right! haha
I stamped the three bunnies with balloons from the Sky High stamp set with black ink (very rare for me!). I colored them in with colored pencils and attached them overlapping on the front of the card. I stamped the sentiment with black ink along the bottom of the clouds. I finished with some Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins.
Isn't this just the cutest set ever? (((like I don't say that every single month!))) The entire new MFT release is right here if you want to check it all out and the stamp set Sky High is here. Thank you for visiting today and have a great one! xoxo suzy
