Today is the Simon Says Stamp Hey Bestie release. There will be a 2 day blog hop on January 10th and 11th for both this release and the last one called Love You More. I will have my "Suzy's Lots of Love" watercolor cards painted for the blog hop. Today I have two cards to share with you using brand new stamp sets from the Hey Bestie release. My first card uses the Love Friendship stamp set and my second card uses the Lifting Hearts stamp set. Here are images of the two 4" x 5.5" stamp sets:
CARD 1:
For this card using the Love Friendship stamp set, I used my random stamping technique. I only used the three flowers and the little set of leaves. The leaves were perfect for filling in the smaller areas. I used MFT Natural Ink for no-line coloring. I colored them all in with colored pencils - I use a mix of Prismacolors (my least favorite), Caran d'Ache Luminance and Pablo (my favs), and Faber Castelle Polychromos (also a fav). The key to designs like these with lots of little lines is to keep the pencil VERY sharp.
For the sentiment, I used a die by MFT which I cannot find on their site anymore so I guess it's old! But any banner would work here. I stamped it and embossed with Nuvo Cool Jade embossing powder. I added some PPP Sparkling Clear Sequins.
I made a slim-line card for the images in this cute Lifting Hearts stamp set. This is the first time I have made one vertical instead of horizontal. I thought this shape would work well for the images to be up in the clouds. I started by cutting a piece of cardstock into two pieces leave a 1/2" strip. First I cut a 7" wide piece that was 8.5" long. I folded that in half to make the card base. Then I cut a 3.5" wide piece that was 8.5" long and I used that as the front of the card. I used Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink with the SSS Clouds For Days stencil.
I stamped all of the images in the stamp set with MFT Natural Ink and then colored them in with colored pencils. I love how soft the images look colored with pencils and how I can give the fur a textured look on critters. I fussy cut all of these out, but there is a set of matching dies available. I then glued them to the card front adding some extra balloons.
I covered the balloons with Jewel Nuvo Drops, but they are not dry yet here so they don't look like they will. The Nuvo Drops actually cracks when it dries. I probably would have been better off using Glossy Accents or Crystal Glaze by Tonic (love that stuff thanks to one of my readers who recommended it - I just put it somewhere and I can't find it - ugh!). I embossed the sentiment with Pink Peony embossing powder and stamped the second part with black ink. I added some Glossy White Nuvo Drops to finish the card.
Please come visit again on the 9th to see my watercolor cards all dressed up and for the blog hop with lots of prizes on each stop. I hope you are all having a wonderful New Year and thanks so much for visiting today. I have linked all of the products used in this post to the SSS store below and you can see the entire Hey Bestie Release HERE. Suzy xoxo
