I'm back today with another "one stamp, five ways" blog post using the brand new Simon Says Stamp Special Edition Valentine 2020 kit. Yesterday's post was using the regular SSS card kit for February. Today's kit will not be in stock long as the SE kits always sell out quickly. So if you are interested in it, just know you need to make a quick decision regarding buying it. Here is an image and it is packed full of all kinds of products that I didn't get a chance to use on my 5 cards below (such as the little white bags and the small envelopes).
I'll be focusing primarily on the stamp set in the kit which is a 6x8" stamp set called Be My Valentine. I also used a lot of the patterned paper which is 6'" x 8" pieces of patterned paper by Simple Stories. There is also a rubber stamp of just a floral heart that is 3" x 4" that is called Heart Rose and is sold alone. I've incorporated that one into one of my cards as well. Last, there is a small doily stencil that I used on a couple of the cards you can buy alone called Stencil Heart Pattern Doily. Let's get started!
This card starts with one of the patterned papers in the kit. It is full of typed love text and has some pink throughout it. I added a little more to the edges with some Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Ink. I attached that to a red card base. I stamped the rose rubber stamp on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink and colored it in with colored pencils. I cut around the edges.
I created the doily with the small doily stencil and Distress Oxide Ink in Worn Lipstick again. I cut around the edges and placed that behind the heart image. I stamped Happy Valentine's Day from the large stamp set (I had to cut the three words apart to use them this way) and embossed them with Carnation Red embossing powder. I used one of the Simon Says Stamp Sentiment Strips. I layered all of these pieces on the background of the card. I tucked a couple of the roses from the Simple Stories bits and pieces in the kit. I added some PPP Blush jewels around the sentiment.
CARD 2:
I created the background of this card using Ranger Watercolor Paper. I then used Nuvo Pink Popsicle embossing powder and the cupid and heart stamps from the large stamp set. I randomly stamped them over the background creating a subtle pattern. I then watercolored over the embossed images in a soft pink color so it was even more subtle. I flicked some additional paint on which stuck to the embossed images giving it a speckled look.
I layered one of the Simple Stories roses die-cuts on the right side of the card. I embossed the sentiment from the large stamp set with Carnation red embossing powder. I used the SSS Sentiment Banners again just cutting off the right edge. I also added a "sweetheart" die-cut and then attached the sentiment on top. I added three sparkling clear sequins to finish the card.
CARD 3:
This card is a completely different color scheme than all of my others are! I embossed the flower stamps from the large stamp set with white embossing powder. I used Ranger Watercolor Paper since it is white. I wanted to try using my new Nuvo Shimmer Powders on flowers since i have only used them for backgrounds. I wondered how they would work to color in an image. I used three colors: Lilac Waterfall, Violet Brocade, and Atlantis Burst for the leaves and background. I made sure to mix the colors with LOTS of water on the background so the colors were more subtle. I loved how these powders worked out for coloring flowers!
I embossed a sentiment from the large stamp set using Wow Royal Crush embossing powder. I then used some PPP Amethyst jewels around the sentiment.
CARD 4:
I used the Therm O Web Aged Copper Metallix Deco Foil Gel in the kit on this card. I started by using it over the doily stencil using the craft knife in the kit. I rubbed a layer over it. I then rubbed more of it over a piece of white cardstock that was full card size. I used my finger to rub it over the cardstock in a circular motion. I let it dry for about 2 hours and I loved how it looked when it was ready. I used it for the background of the card with one of the patterned papers layered over it on the bottom. I also cut out the small doily and used that not the front of the card. That gel is so cool!
I went a little crazy with the set of bits and pieces by Simple Stories on this card. I used the large one called Sweet Heart for a sentiment with foam tape behind it. I tucked roses and a butterfly around it over the doily. I used some sparkling clear sequins around the designs.
CARD 5:
This is my "random stamping" card where I stamp the images going in every direction lined up like a puzzle to create a background. I always stamp with MFT Natural Ink and color with colored pencils for a no-line stamping look. I love coloring with colored pencils so this is always my favorite type of card to make!
I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set with white embossing powder on Lawn Fawn guava cardstock. I used a stitched rectangle that fit the sentiment perfectly from the Pretty Pink Posh Storybook 1 die.
Those are my five cards using this darling kit. Just one more reminder that i didn't use many of the items in the it like the small white bags and the little envelopes - I stuck to full size cards. The stamp set has all kinds of possibilities for decorating those little bags though! I hope you enjoyed these cards and if you want to see my "one stamp, five ways" February card kit post that I put up yesterday here is it. And here is another link to the SE Valentine card kit as they sell out fast every time they introduce one, so don't miss it if you are interested. Have a great week friends and thanks as always for visiting! Suzy xoxo
