Today I have a "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you using the latest and GREATEST stamp set by Stacey Yacula for MFT called Kissing Booth. They have a new release today HERE and this set is part of that so it is available for purchase right now. I say "greatest" as this might be my favorite stamp set yet that she has illustrated for MFT. I just love her style, so she blows me away every month! Here is an image of the stamp set:
A kissing booth with critters and a banner - can you get any better than that? I made 5 cards with this set so here we go!
I photographed this card crooked and it is really bugging me, but other than that, I like this one! I started with a piece of white cardstock and I rubbed Distress Oxide Ink on it in Tumbled Glass on the top and Mowed Lawn on the bottom. I used my new Picket Fence brushes and rubbed some on scrap paper first so I could keep the colors light. Next, I stamped all of the images on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink and then I colored them all in with colored pencils.
I attached all of the images over the background to create a little scene. I used foam tape behind some of them so they had dimension. I tucked the bear behind the kissing booth (since he will be the recipient of all the L O V I N ' (hehehe). I cut the banner in half and put half on each side as if it is attached to other booths at a carnival. I stamped XOXO on a small banner with black ink and tucked it under the balloon. I used Glossy Accents on the ballon and the vase of candy hearts. Is this not the cutest stamp set ever?!?!?! Have I convinced you yet?
CARD 2:
Whenever I do one of these 5 card posts, I always have one card that I don't like. This unfortunately is it. I remade it several times and never could get a design that made me happy. So just know they will get better from here and these were just my leftover colored images put on a card! I started with the MFT Rounded Rectangles for the background. I used blue watercolor over the piece on the inside. I do really love this die set and use it all the time. It is especially good for shaker cards which I tried the first time. No need to discuss that failure! I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set on the top of the card in black ink.
I stamped all of the images on white cardstock with black ink. I had one little owl left that was stamped with the light ink so I had to outline him with a black pen. I decided to color them with colors that they wouldn't be as I figured they could be stuffed animals right? I had two of the banners colored, so I layered them in the middle. I used some glossy white nuvo drops around the background to finish the card.
CARD 3:
After I failed at making the other shaker card, I decided this kissing booth would be the perfect window for a shaker card. I first painted the background with watercolors (nice and easy way to make a quick background). I then stamped all of the images on white cardstock with black ink. I lay the kissing booth over the background and used a blue pencil to trace inside the window. I then cut that piece out just a little bigger than the drawn lines. That way I could lay the kissing booth over the opening and attach the extra piece to the bottom of the shaker. I added some Aquamarine 4mm and 6mm sequins and sparkling clear 3mm sequins to the shaker window.
I was going to color the booth, but I couldn't decide what color to make it, so it stayed playing! I attached all of the images and added some of the same sequins to the front of the card. I stamped the SWAK and XOXO stamps in the stamp set onto the balloons before I attached them to the card front.
CARD 4:
This card reminds me of bubblegum. I started by rubbing Distress Oxide Inks in Worn Lipstick and Spun Sugar on a piece of white cardstock. Then I attached the new Love Is In The Air stencil on top of this piece and rubbed Texture Paste over it with a palette knife. Ideally the Texture Paste would stay white, but it turned a little yellow on me - not sure why. I guess I picked up some of the color from the card base as it wasn't dry yet. I die-cut the grass piece using a new to me MFT die called the Tucked In Turf Vertical Die-namics. It's basically grass with some open spots to tuck things under. I die-cut it from a piece of watercolor paper I had painted with Shimmer Powder in Falling Leaves. I added a rectangle frame around the edge of the card using the MFT A2 Rectangle Frame Die-namics.
I stamped all of the images in the Kissing Booth stamp set using MFT Natural Ink on white cardstock. I colored them all in with colored pencils. I attached them to the front of the card tucking some pieces under the grassy edges. I added some glossy white Nuvo drops to the balloons.
CARD 5:
And of course a "random stamped" background card because when you have to make 5 cards with the same stamp set, this technique becomes a necessity haha! I do love how it looks though which is another reason I do it every single time! I stamped all of the images with the same MFT Natural Ink and then colored them all in with colored pencils. I do love my pencils! I added shadows using a warm gray pencil.
Another die I bought myself for Christmas was the MFT Fish-Tail Banner dies. I used that for the sentiment which fit perfectly! I attached it to the front of the card - I liked it because it was thin and didn't cover up too much of my time-consuming coloring! I added some glossy white Nuvo drops around the sentiment.
That's it my friends! I'm off to bed as I am SO TIRED after all this typing! So a question for you all - do any of you have a word for the year? I always pick a word and this year I picked PURGE. I plan on purging a lot of crap from my house (can you say hoarder?) and purging some bad habits (diet coke crazed human) and trying to purge some bad traits too. I have a lot to purge - I could purge some weight off my buttox too! I always enjoy having a focus for my year so that is mine this time! Thanks for visiting my blog today and have a great new year!!! suzy xoxo (((PS: Here is one more link to the MFT New Release)))
