Today is the release of the Simon Says Stamp January Card Kit called Snowflake Builder. I have a "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you. It was fun making non-holiday cards for the first time in a while. I do have to say though, that I will really miss all the glitter and sparkle I've been using. Luckily, this kit took advantage of all of the glittery supplies I still have out! Here is an image of the kit:
You can purchase just the stamp set which is called Snowflake Builder also HERE. The snowflake die is also sold alone HERE. I focus primarily on using the stamp set for my cards.
Card 1:
I think I have posted my cards today in the order that I like them. This one was my favorite (so in my opinion they are going to get worse as you go along - haha!). I am in love with my new Tonic Shimmer Powders. Seriously in love. You probably already know that if you have visited my blog lately. I use them constantly and love them so much. This card uses two colors - Catherine Wheel and Cherry Bomb. I just love how much color intensity you get from them - this would be hard to do with watercolors. I also love how there are multiple color bursts in each one. And last, I love how you can leave little blobs of color and it hardens. Oh and one more thing I love - that they are SHIMMERY!!! (thus perfect for holiday cards and snowflake cards!). I started this card by painting them on a rectangle of Ranger Watercolor Paper.
Next I die-cut the snowflake die that comes with the kit six times. I then covered each one with Stickles Star Dust. I have fallen in love with Stickles this year too as i pulled out an old one I used to use and realized they are way more glittery than my Nuvo Drops. I still love those as well though, but to up the shimmer levels, the Stickles work really well. There are several clear/glittery colors and they all work great - just a different shade or amount of transparency. I had to have them all of course!
I attached the six snowflakes to the card front only gluing the center parts down. I then embossed the banner in the stamp set with Wow Pink Lady embossing powder. I stamped the sentiment on the inside of the banner with black ink and attached that to the center of the card tucking it under the snowflakes. I added some Pretty Pink Posh sparkling clear confetti sequins.
Card 2:
This card is also made with Tonic Shimmer Powders - surprise surprise! This time I just used one color - Meteorite Shower. See all those colors in it? It looks so much better in real life as when I edited it, it washed the color out a bit so it is darker and more intense in real life. Again, I just wet the watercolor paper and then dropped the powder into it. I let it do it's thing and then nudge it a bit here and there with a wet brush. After it is all in place but still wet, I add more powder so I get those little textured spots in it.
I forgot to mention that before I painted it, I embossed the snowflakes with white embossing powder on the top left corner. I used both snowflakes in each combo - I embossed the first one and then the second separated since they overlap in some cases. I embossed the banner with silver embossing powder and stamped the sentiment with black ink. I added another snowflake die just over the sentiment covered with Lawn Fawn chunky glitter. I added some sparkling clear sequins around the banner.
Card 3:
This card was the most fun to make of course as I love to color! I stamped all of the snowflakes in a random pattern with MFT Natural Ink and then colored them with my colored pencils. Again, I layered the snowflakes as they are meant to be layered in the stamp set. Aren't they just so pretty colored in? I went with my favorite color scheme on this one (same colors I use on almost every card I make!). I die-cut the piece with the Lawn Fawn Just Stitching Double dies - love the texture they add to the border.
I die-cut a small square using the Simon Says Stamp stitched square dies and Lawn Fawn guava cardstock. I embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder. I attached some PPP confetti sparkling clear sequins again.
This card was SO hard to photograph - the paper has a sheen on it and I couldn't get a good shot of it. I started with one of the patterned papers in the kit. I then added an MFT A2 Rectangle frame die with SSS aqua glitter paper.
This is just a darker image trying to get it to look better, but I don't think I accomplished that. I stamped and embossed several of the snowflake designs in different colors and then cut them out and layered them into one large snowflake. I only attached the centers so I could flip the edges up. I used Tonic Nuvo Drops in Blue Lagoon and Silver Moondust on the little circles. I used a PPP silver jewel in the center. I stamped the banner with silver embossing powder and the sentiment with black ink. I added two silver jewels around the sentiment to finish it.
I used one of the papers in the kit for this card as well. I added a white frame using one of the Hello Bluebird scene dies (they all have a frame on the outside edges that works great to frame cards since it is so thin). I embossed some more of the snowflakes, but this time I layered them the way they go together in the stamp set. I used two colors of embossing powder on each one and then cut them out.
I glued the entire snowflakes down and layered them. I added silver jewels in the center of each. I used Stickle glitter glue on all of the little circles. I die-cut two sentiments from the Holiday Words on a Line dies by SSS - one out of white cardstock and one out of silver glitter paper. I layered two on the bottom of the card and then added some PPP confetti sequins around the sentiments.
I hope you enjoyed this one stamp, five ways blog post and it gave you some inspiration for using this card kit. Thanks so much for visiting today and I hope you all have a very happy holiday season! Suzy xoxo
Do you find that the shimmer powders rub off on your fingers when they are dry on the cardstock? Thank you.
