Art Impressions won my heart at what used to be called CHA a few years ago. They have a line of what I fondly call my fat lady stamps. They are the cutest things in the world and that year, I bought about 12 sets of them when they discounted them at the end of the show. Ever since I've been a big fan of their unique images. Today they came out with an exclusive stamp set through Simon Says Stamp called the Holiday Flip Card Set. Here is an image of the stamps:
They also have a die that coordinates with it (to create the flip) called the Flip Card Die. I have two cards to share with you today using this set.
This is a slim-line card. I start with an 8.5x11" piece of white cardstock. I cut a 7" strip and fold that in half length-wise for the card base. I take the remaining piece and cut off 1/2" so it is a 3.5" wide strip I use for the front of the card. To make the tab on the card, I took the card base and I placed the die along the crease in the center of the card (better directions are on the back of the die). I stamped the fronts of both stamps on the front of the card. I embossed the first part of the sentiment on the flap of the card.
I stamped the backsides of both of the stamps on the inside of the card. I embossed the rest of the sentiment on the inside of the flap as shown. I stamped all four of the images on masking paper, cut them out, and placed them over my stamped images. I then use my brushes to apply Worn Lipstick and Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Inks on the top of the front and inside of the card. I splattered some white acrylic paint over the background to look like snow. I then rubbed Moonstone Glimmer Paste over the bottom of the card front and inside for snow. After that was dry, I removed the masks.
I stamped the images with MFT Natural Ink and the I colored them in with colored pencils. I love using colored pencils on small images so I can use the sharp points to outline each area of color and to add details. I used Tonic Nuvo Drops in their Jewel line (sheer with color) over each colored area.
I used white Nuvo Drops over the snowmen. I used a white Uniball marker to add details. I used black Nuvo Drops over their noses. I used glitter Nuvo Drops over the clothes. I used some Stickles - clear with glitter - for drops over the sky on the front of the card. I also applied some around the sentiment area. Then I poured white glitter over them to give them even more sheen - links to all products I used in my supply list. And yes, this card was time consuming - haha!
I was super excited about this card as I have never made a sheer shaker window before. Maybe I even created the idea - doubtful! I started with a white card base. I then created a shaker card by die-cutting a circle from the top center of both a white card front and the white card base. I used a piece of transparency on the inside of both circles and applied foam tape between the pieces. I filled the shaker opening with lots of sparkling clear sequins and jewels including stars and snowflakes. I also added some marshmallow sequins and white jewels.
You can see how cool the two way shaker looks in this picture. I die-cut a circle for the inside which I think made the front look better, but plain white looked good too. I painted this with Blue Blitz shimmer powder. I embossed the sentiment on the front and the inside with Ranger Carnation Red embossing powder.
I stamped the penguin fronts and backs on white cardstock with black ink and colored them all in with colored pencils. I fussy cut them out along the black lines and then used a black marker along the edges to make sure they were all outlined. I attached them to the front of the transparent window. I used some of the clear jewels and snowflake sequins on the front of the card as well as some glitter drops.
This is the backside of the shaker window so you can see how I lined up the backs of the penguins here.
That's it! I hope you will visit the SSS Blog as they have tons of inspiration on there using this stamp set from some really talented girls. You can purchase the stamp set at Simon (exclusively) HERE and the die HERE. They are perfect for all of your holiday cards. All of the products I used on these two cards are listed below (and there are a lot of them!). Happy season of Christmas Card Creating!!! I think this season is even better than the actual holiday season! xoxo Suzy
