This is my monthly Simon Says Stamp card kit post, but it isn't a "one stamp, five ways" post like usual. That is because the card kit comes with a FULL set of my watercolor cards, so I decided to focus on them instead of the stamp set. But that stamp set is so cute, I'll end up doing another post using it I'm sure! Here is a photo of the November kit called Woodland Whimsy:
So not only are you getting the usual kit contents (pretty paper, stamp set, etc...), but you are also getting a full set of my watercolor cards as well as a set of watercolors and brushes to use on them. And if you aren't into that kind of thing, you could give the cards and the paints as a gift to someone special as they go together so well! The watercolor card set is also sold alone and is called Winter Thanks. All 12 cards have gratitude greetings, but are winter themed. Here is an image of the full set (click image to purchase it alone):
As I stated, I didn't make any cards with the card kit, but I did paint/decorate/make 6 of the 12 watercolor cards in this set into cards. I'll try to post the other 6 soon so you can see all of them "done up". I like to have a place you can come when you are painting your own for ideas/inspiration. I've posted every single set painted since i started these sets (40 ago) 3 years ago! Alrighty then, let's get started. I'll share the 6 cards and then tell you some details at the end.
Tips/Techniques Used To Color These Watercolor Cards:
- I just posted 12 from my last set called Christmas Critters two days ago for the SSS blog hop for Cheer and Joy release; there are many tips/techniques on that post HERE you can refer to
- For the snow, I used a thin coat of glossy accents and poured glitter over it
- For the snow on the trees I used white Nuvo Drops
- Use glitter Nuvo Drops over the letters
- When I color the letters, I use colored pencils and start with the darkest color on the bottom and work up to the lightest color on the top just to add visual interest
- I used my new Tonic Shimmer Powders for the backgrounds in most of these; they helped me paint the perfect night sky!
- Add frames around the cards as I did in two of these here; for one I used glitter paper and for the other I used metallic paper
Thanks for coming by today. I'll have more to share from this kit soon! Have a great week friends! Suzy
Your work is just gorgeous. I love the bright, lovely colors you used in these cards. Each and everyone of them brought a big smile to my face. You are very talented! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for painting the cards. I am always afraid I will ruin them by the colors I choose. Thanks for the hints and tips. Super helpful.
