Today is the release of Simon Says Stamp's special edition Halloween kit called Spook Up Some Fun (as part of their STAMPtember celebration). This kit is FULL of all things Halloween with so many options for making treat bags and tags and cards and anything else you can imagine. I kept my creations focused on the stamp set and made just cards to share with you today (one stamp, five ways!)... Here is an image of the kit:
You can purchase the stamp set Spook Up The Fun by itself. I'm not much of a HW person, but I really like this stamp set as it's not creepy or scary, but very cute! Here are my five cards:
I first die-cut a piece of white cardstock into a stitched rectangle for my image - I used the Stitched Notes Die by PPP. I made the frame with the Hello Bluebird Gallery Frame 2 die. I used an orange and purple paper from my stash.
I stamped the witch bottom half and the sentiment on my white rectangle. I used MFT Natural Ink for the witch and Intense Black Ink by SSS for the sentiment. I colored her in with colored pencils (while watching a 1.5 year old, so my coloring isn't up to my standards on this one haha). I added some Tonic Glitter Nuvo Drops onto the skirt and Jewel drops on the hat. I used some Glossy drops over the background. All are linked in the supply list. I shadowed everything and added a ground with a gray colored pencil.
CARD 2:
I wanted to stamp the pumpkins without their faces, so I covered them with a piece of scrap paper and then inked the images up. I stamped them on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink. By doing this I could use the pumpkins and the leaves in the stamp set for a fall card instead of just HW cards. I stamped all of the leaves in the same ink and this way they wouldn't show where they overlap the pumpkins or each other. I colored them all in (and spent way too long on that since I covered half of them with Glitter Nuvo drops haha.
I used the MFT A2 Rectangle frame dies for the frame. I used the Thanks die from the October Simon card kit (which you can also purchase on it's own). I used more Tonic Nuvo Drops around the title to finish the card.
CARD 3:
I made this shaker card, but couldn't decide which photo I liked better, so there are two different versions here! I used the black metallic paper in the kit for the frame using the PPP Stitched Notes die again. I stamped the word BOO on the inside piece using white cardstock and MFT Natural Ink. I then colored it with colored pencils using black around the edges and purple on the insides of the letters.I stamped some of the bats in black around the BOO.
I filled the shaker with PPP star sequins in clear, purple and black. I probably added too many as they covered most of my bats!
I used a Honeybee Banner die for the sentiment and then stamped another bat to go on it. I glued some PPP jewels on the outside corners of the shaker window. I used the black twine and "trick or treat" along the common of the card.
CARD 4:
I used my random stamping technique on this card. I know I use this way too often, but I haven't stopped liking the way it shows off images in a stamp set yet, so I continue on. And let's be honest - it gives me lots of images to color which is my favorite part of making cards! I stamped all of the images on white cardstock with black ink arranging them like a puzzle with my Misti.
I colored them all in with colored pencils. I also colored the background with pencils. I then used a white Uniball and a bunch of different Nuvo Drops to add spots all over the background. I wanted it to look like a night sky, but I got a little carried away! I stamped the sentiment on one of the die-cuts in the kit (just turn them over and they are perfect for adding sentiments to your cards!). I added some more Nuvo Drops around the sentiment.
CARD 5:
For this card, I used the SSS Tree Frame die cut from white cardstock. I then die-cut an orange frame using the SSS Stitched Square dies. I used the Brutus Monroe Glow in the Dark Glitter Glaze with the Batty Stencil in the kit over the inside black cardstock piece. I then used a Tiny Dot Stencil over the white part of the card with the Glitter Glaze. It doesn't show very well in this photo as the glaze goes on opaque white, but then dries to a clear transparent glittery shade. The dots look really nice in person though and I bet they would be fun in a dark room, but I forgot to try it!
I assembled the outside of the card and then stamped a bat and the ghost with black ink on white cardstock. I then cut them out and attached them over the front of the card. I stamped the sentiment on a SSS Sentiment Strip and put that on the bottom of the card. I used some White Nuvo Drops over the black portion of the card and some orange sequins from the SSS Autumn Sequin Mix.
That's it - were my cards scary enough to qualify as Halloween cards? Did I mention I don't like dark/scary/creepy designs? I think this stamp set was the perfect amount of HW for me! I hope you all enjoyed these cards and love this new kit! They well out quickly, so get on it if you want it - the Spook Up Some Fun special edition card kit at Simon Says Stamp. And hint, hint, there is another special edition kit coming out this month too - can't wait to play with that one! Have a great week friends and thank you so much for visiting! suzy
I love all of your beautiful/scary cards. The purple BOO is my very favorite.
