Today's "one stamp, five ways" post uses the BRAND NEW STAMPtember Special Edition Birthday Card Kit called Sweet Birthday. Here is an image of the kit:
As usual, I have focused primarily on the stamp set in this kit called Sweet Birthday which is sold alone or with a set of dies bundled together. You can also buy the dies alone if you want to add them to your kit - I wish I had had them!). Here is an image of the stamp set:
CARD 1:
I used the MFT A2 Frame dies for the frame on this card. I used yellow cardstock for the frame piece and then one of the patterned papers in the Honeybee 6x6 paper pad (I already had this one as I liked it so much I bought it - it is perfect for card backgrounds) for the inside piece. I stamped the clouds and stars on white cardstock with a light color of ink and then colored them in with colored pencils. I fussy cut them out, but there is a set of dies that go with the stamp set.
I attached all of the images to the card background. I added some of the turquoise flat sequins that came in the pack with the kit. I also added a little heart puffy sticker from the pack that it in the kit. I stamped the three sentiments from the stamp set with black ink on the three smaller clouds. (((I had to cut the "let's celebrate" apart)))
CARD 2:
This is my "random stamping" card using the stamp set. I stamped all of the images on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink and then colored them in with colored pencils. I added gray shadows on the edges.
I used a SSS Stitched Circle die for the sentiment (it fit perfectly!). I used Pink Peony embossing powder - I love that sentiment - the writing is so cute! I added some Blush jewels around the sentiment and popped it up with foam tape.
CARD 3:
This card was the most time consuming and my least favorite of the 5! I really struggled with the balloon strings, but we will get to that. For the card base, I cut a frame from white cardstock using the PPP Notes and Things rectangle die. I then cut one of the papers from the Honey Bee 6x6 paper pad with the same die for the inside of the frame. I die-cut the "let's celebrate die base from vellum. I die-cut the letters from the red metallic paper in the kit. I glued the letters over the vellum and attached the vellum with vellum adhesive. It didn't stick very well which was part of my dislike of this card!
I stamped the balloons on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink and then colored them with colored pencils to match the patterned paper. I fussy cut around them and attached them to the top of the card. I tried drawing the balloon strings with black pen and I should have left it at that. But I wanted them to be dimensional, so next I tried Lawn Fawn coral twine. But the loops I had drawn were so small, that it was hard to make the twine work. It took a long time and looks really messy which annoys me. But it kept me busy while I was watching the mess that was on CNN today! I added some of the red metallic sequins that were in the kit.
CARD 4:
This card turned out cute, but it also took a long time! I ran into some problems so I had to start over a couple of times. I started by die-cutting a frame using the same MFT A2 Frame dies with the red metallic paper in the kit. I stamped the Happy Birthday on the bottom of a piece of white cardstock with black ink. I stamped the rainbow pieces with Lawn Fawn colored inks. You need to use a Misti and line these pieces up very carefully. Each part of the rainbow is a separate piece so you can stamp them with different colors of ink. I cut a piece of scrap paper to cover up the rainbow while I stamped the clouds with black ink.
I colored in the Happy Birthday with colored pencils and used Glossy Accents over it. I added sequins (all in the kit) over the rainbow pieces which is what took a long time. I used White Blizzard Nuvo Drops over the clouds. I added some white glossy Nuvo Drops around the background.
CARD 5:
I love this card - isn't that paint board the cutest die ever??? I wanted to make a really clean card like one Laura Basset would make, but i couldn't keep it clean enough to qualify as one of her amazeballs cards. I die-cut the frame using the MFT A2 Stitched Rectangle Dies. I stamped the Happy Birthday stamp (cut it into two pieces) with Forget-Me-Knot embossing powder. I then colored inside the letters with three colors of blue Copic Markers (Robin's Egg, Frost Blue, and Blue Porcelain).
I die-cut the paint board from white cardstock and then colored it in with Copic Markers. I attached it to the front of the card. I added sequins from the ones that came with the kit to each of the colors. This card was actually fairly easy to make and it was fun to use my Copics again - I've kind of missed them...
That's it for today! I hope you LOVE LOVE LOVE this kit as much as I do. I wasn't able to use a lot of the stuff in it like that glitter glaze and the stencil. The stamp set is so versatile with all those birthday sentiments, so I know I will get a lot of use out of this kit. Here is a link to the Sweet Birthday kit and the Sweet Birthday stamp set again in case I have just talked you into buying it hahaha! Have a great weekend friends and thanks for visiting today! suzy
