Today I have a "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you using the Simon Says Stamp called Fabulous Florals. It was in the STAMPtember release that just happened! There is also another stamps set I love in this release that goes well with this one called Floral Hearts. I decided to use all of the sentiments in this set on my cards so you could see that one also used as a "one stamp, five ways"! (Note: I did use a die for one of the card sentiments). Here is an image of both stamp sets:
See how well they look together? Since I made the post about the first one, Fabulous Florals, I resisted the urge to use that gorgeous floral heart. I've focused on the flowers being the focal point on all 5 of my cards today. So let's get started!
CARD 1:
Have you noticed that this card is BRIGHT? I did that on purpose. I wanted to make one that was just over the top bright haha. Just so you know I am aware! I actually pulled out my Copics for this one too! I stamped just the three flowers that look like this (insert emoji with pointing finger upwards) in black ink on white cardstock. I then colored them in with the brightest Copics I have which included Cerise and Shock Pink and Green Bice.
I used colored pencils for the insides of the flowers although I wish I had made them white. Great thing about colored pencils is they can be used opaque so they can cover even bright! I used a new to me die by SSS called Today will be Awesome and colored the inside letters the same Shock Pink! Is it shocking enough? I thought it needed one more thing, so I added the brightest jewels made by PPP called Flamingo Pink. And then I felt I was done. I guess I'll have to meet an over the top bright person to send it to!
CARD 2:
I wanted to try something new (to me) on this card. I could live with or without the results meaning I wasn't wowed by them. I started by inking the background after cutting a piece of white cardstock into a rectangle using the SSS Stitched Rectangle Dies. I then rubbed Distress Oxide Inks over it including Worn Lipstick, Pumpkin Orange, and Mustard Seed. Next, I stamped some of the little mostly flat stamps over the background with the same three inks. Although the results didn't impress me, I was impressed that the Oxide Inks stamped so well and showed up just perfectly (not too shockingly as insert finger pointed upward that card above!).
I stamped the flowers and leaves with MFT Natural ink and colored them in with pencils. I tried adding two shades to the large flowers leaves just for fun. I stamped the sentiment from Floral Hearts with white embossing powder and added some of the Butterfly Mix sequins around the flowers. Just meh. Not impressed!
CARD 3:
I used my favorite random stamping (or making a puzzle with my stamps) technique for this one. I stamped all of the flowers with MFT Natural Ink and then colored them with colored pencils (in church shhhh!!!). I stuck to blues and aquas just for a different look on this one. I added gray shadows which I do whenever I have a white background so the stamped items pop a little.
I used a SSS Stitched Rectangle for the sentiment block and stamped "thank you" from the Floral Heart stamp set with white embossing. I added some PPP sparkling clear sequins around the sentiment.
CARD 4:
Now THIS card impressed me. Certainly nothing I haven't done a million times before, but the results were just my style. I embossed the flowers with white embossing powder around the edges of my rectangle. The key is I used a high end watercolor paper (cold press) which makes all the difference when you want to do some really pretty watercoloring. With watercolor half of the results is the products you use. So I went with my high end Daniel Smith watercolors for this one.
I embossed the sentiment with my favorite green which is the Wendy Vecchi Leaf Green embossing powder. The sentiment is also from the Floral Heart stamp set. I finished with some sequins around the flowers. I think the reason I liked this card so much is I didn't cover the entire flower petals with color. I used lots of water and applied the color around the embossed areas and let it run in, but I resisted the urge to color the entire things like I use usually do (as I did on the smaller flowers). I think it looks pretty this way. Less is more, but I always do more!
CARD 5:
I started this card with a die I've had for a while, but never used. It is by SSS and is called the Folk Dance Wafer Die. When using intricate dies, I usually use a metal adaptor plate underneath them to cut the cutting deep enough to get all those little pieces out. But for this one, I omitted the metal plate so it would all stay together and it easily transferred onto a card base in one piece.
I stamped some of the flowers with MFT Natural Ink and colored them in with colored pencils. I stamped the sentiment from the Floral Heart set with Wendy Vecchi Cactus Flower embossing powder. I used the MFT A2 Rectangle Frames so I could have the colored cardstock of the card base as a frame around the sentiment. I added some 4mm orchid sequins and some sparkling clear sequins.
And there you have it. I do love me some floral stamps! I tend to use those the most if you have noticed. Actually I would have to say critters are my favorite thing to stamp and color, but flowers are a close second. I hope you enjoyed this "one stamp, five ways" post using the Fabulous Florals stamp set and the Floral Heart stamp set for the sentiments. All of the supplies I've used on this post are listed below linked to the SSS store. Have a great weekend friends and thanks so much for visiting! Suzy
Absolutely love ALL 5 cards but my favourite has to be the blue one, the colours and design are just sublime. I've learnt so much from your tutorial's. Thank you so much for sharing. (I'm hoping I can follow you somehow) xxx

I love making flower cards. And your “Thank you “ and “Love grows here” cards are beautiful. I hope to make some like them soon. You inspire me. I’m new to making cards with watercolors.
Thanks, Kathy
