Hello friends! I haven't been here much over the past month! I was in Hawaii for almost two weeks and now I am taking my daughter to school in Utah for a week, so that's 3 weeks I'll be gone in August, thus the only 2 blog posts! I will be back to your regularly scheduled program in September! In fact, there will be a Hello Bluebird release in early September AND it is STAMPtember for Simon Says Stamp, so I will have LOTS of posts and come back with a BANG!
Today I have a "one stamp, five ways" post that is really a "one stamp, six ways" post. I (((accidentally))) made six cards by counting wrong - haha. So I went with it and finished them all. This was easy to do with this beautiful stamp set with so many sentiments! Here is an image - it came in the SSS September card kit and is called Look For the Rainbows:
I usually do my monthly posts using the entire SSS stamp kits, but this time since I am posting way after it went up for sale, I decided to focus on just the stamp set. There are also a set of dies that you can pre-order that go with it (but I fussy cut all of my flowers out). The kit is also still in stock (this is NOT the usual, so everyone must have had a busy August!). Here is an image of it in all it's gorgeousness and it is also called Look For the Rainbows Kit!
So like I said, I will be focusing on JUST the stamp set this month and using it on my six cards without the other kit products. Here we go!
CARD 1:
This card uses my "random stamping" technique I often feature. I stamped just the three birds and two butterflies from the Look For the Rainbows stamp set on a piece of white cardstock with black ink. I used my Misti to make it much easier and just arranged them like a puzzle (I love puzzles which is one reason I love to use this technique). I love how this card focuses on just the birds and butterflies in this stamp set. I colored them all in with colored pencils. I meant to go back and add a lighter pink for the inside of the birds, but I forgot to do it and I actually like them white. I die-cut the piece out with a stitched rectangle and then mounted it on a blue cardstock base.
For the sentiment, I embossed it on an MFT Fishtail banner with white embossing powder. I then stamped the second sentiment on a SSS Sentiment Banner with black ink and layered them on the bottom of the card. I added some Denim Nuvo Drops and one large white PPP jewel to finish the card.
CARD 2:
The last time I placed an order with SSS, I wanted to add something that would be fun to get (as most of my order was just supplies I needed). So I went through all their 6x6 paper pads and picked two that looked like my style. I love them both and have used them both on this post. This one is from my favorite pad by Heidi Swapp called Color Fresh. When I got the pads, I went through my favorite papers and die-cut them all to fit on card fronts so they would be ready to go. This one was just perfect for this stamp set. I attached the patterned paper to a black cardstock base.
I stamped the flower, leaves, and bird on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink and colored them in with colored pencils. I embossed the sentiment on black cardstock with white embossing powder using the SSS Sentiment Banners. I attached the sentiment tucked under the flower. I added the bird to the top of the card and finished with three PPP Watermelon jewels.
CARD 3:
This card was made with just the stamp set and nothing else! I stamped the flower stamp on the top and the bottom of a white cardstock rectangle with MFT Natural Ink for no-line stamping. I then colored them in with colored pencils.
I stamped the sentiment in-between the two flower stamps with black ink. I added some PPP Ivory jewels around the flowers. Easy card and I like it more than most of the others!
CARD 4:
This card uses the other 6x6 paper pad I purchased by Honey Bee called Over the Rainbow. I actually used the front cover of the paper pad as it looked like a rainbow of colors and patterns. It had a white banner with the paper pad name on it, so I covered that with a piece of white cardstock. I cut the piece with a SSS Stitched rectangle so it had a white frame (as the cover piece was too small to cover the entire front on the card).
I embossed the sentiment from the stamp set on the top left side of the white banner with Wendy Vecchi Garden Patina embossing powder (the perfect teal every time!). I stamped the bird, the butterflies, and the flower on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink and colored them in with colored pencils. I then fussy cut them out and attached them over the white banner around the sentiment. I added the bird to the top left side of the card. Note: All paper pads have those sticky little circles on them! So when I embossed the sentiment, the embossing powder stuck to the residue from the sticky circle. So I went with it and embossed it and used it as a spot for the bird to attach to. Lucky mistake!
CARD 5:
I think this card is my favorite one as I used my gorgeous Brutus Monroe watercolors and my InkOn3 Pixie Dust. I don't know if these photos actually do this card justice as the sheen is just beautiful! I first embossed the flowers with white embossing powder on watercolor paper. I used four colors of the Metallic watercolor (they are the ones with all the sheen): the blue is my favorite of all his colors and is called Delphinium, the purple which is called Grape, a white color that just adds sheen and I mix with my other colors to lighten them, and a green that is called Lime. They all work beautifully together. I added some flicks of InkOn3 Pixie Dust to the top for extra shine!
I added a stamped bird to the left side (this wasn't planned and was a last minute add - still not sure if I like it on my otherwise fairly one layer card). I used the SSS Friend die for the sentiment die-cut from white and purple cardstock and then added a secondary sentiment from the stamp set with white embossing powder on the same purple cardstock. I used some Purple Rain and Aquatic Mist Glitter Nuvo Drops around the background.
CARD 6:
I had some alcohol ink backgrounds I had made while playing with my alcohol inks one day (trying to learn how to use them!). I used this pearl set that has the orange and yellow in it and PiƱata Gold mixed in all on Yupo paper. I placed that behind a white cardstock frame using the SSS Stitched Rectangle dies. I then embossed the sentiment on the alcohol ink with white embossing powder. It didn't cover perfectly over the gold areas, so I used a white Uniball gel pen to fill in those areas.
I stamped the flowers on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink and then colored them in with colored pencils. I used Yellow Bird glitter drops in the centers of the flowers and finished the card with some Marigold jewels by PPP and glossy white Nuvo Drops.
There you go - lots of inspiration with the beautiful Look For the Rainbows stamp set! If you don't want the entire kit, keep in mind this stamp set is sold alone as well and with a set of dies. I hope you enjoyed this post and have a great week friends! Suzy
Beautiful cards! So much variety in looks with only one stamp set!

Great cards! For card #5, did you watercolor the embossed flowers first and the water color the background around them? Thank you!
