Hi friends! Today I have a "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you using the SSS July Card Kit called Bee Yourself. Here is an image of the kit:
As usual, I focus on the stamp set in the kit (thus the title of the post) so most of my cards are using that over some of the other options in the kit. The stamp set is sold alone and is also called Bee Yourself (I would want this stamp set even if I didn't want the entire kit). It contains a glue sponge and foil as well as 3 laser printed cards you can use on your cards. I will confess that I did (((attempt))) to use these items, but without a foiling machine, I failed. I tried the glue approach and couldn't get it right. Is the glue suppose to dry when you stamp with it before you apply the foil? If you know how to do this, please tell me in the comments section as i couldn't get it to work right. I also applied the foil to pieces of sticky tape and that worked well. I need practice (lessons) in using foil though as I didn't make anything worth showing. So my excuse for not using all the items in the kit this month is that I was focusing on the stamp set - ahahahaha.
The papers in this kit are amazing and darling and all perfect for card backgrounds. The papers in the kits are sometimes too busy to use as a background, but this month they were all so great that I couldn't decide which ones to use - so I used quite a few as you will see in my cards! Here are my 5 cards:
This card starts with the honeycomb patterned paper. I used a large stitched rectangle to die-cut it to full card size. I then die-cut several of the little honeycomb dies that are in the kit. I used the inside pieces of black and white cardstock ones over the patterns on the paper. I colored the white ones with Copic markers to look like honey (although using a gold cardstock might be an easier option!).
I stamped the darling little bees with MFT Natural Ink and colored them in with colored pencils. I colored the wings with a Spectrum Noir sparkle pen and it smeared the colored pencil a little. I should have colored them first I guess. I die-cut a SSS Stitched Rectangle from white cardstock and stamped the sentiment on that with SSS Intense Black Ink. I attached it to the middle of the card and attached the bees on top of it. I added some of the sequins that are in the kit around the rectangle.
This is my least favorite card and it's because I made it last, so I used all of the "extra" things I had colored on one card and it got a bit busy for my taste. At least I didn't put those last two bees to the left on it! haha I started with the black and white striped paper and I used colored pencils to color yellow and red in between the lines. I used a black and white paper on the bottom half of the card. I die-cut a black frame using black cardstock in the kit and the largest SSS Stitched Rectangle. I cut out one of the little scalloped stripes from a third paper and used that over the border of the other two papers.
I stamped the heart on white cardstock with MFT Natural ink and then outlined the little lines with a black colored pencil. I stamped the bees with black ink and colored them in with colored pencils. I also had a bee hive that was stamped with black ink that I hadn't used, so that went on there too and I just layered everything in one area. I also included three yellow flowers cut from the other side of the black and white polka dot paper. Last, I added some of the sequins to the top of the cluster of too many items!!!
Now this card was probably my favorite, so I'm redeeming myself here! I started by die-cutting the yellow polka-dot paper one size smaller than a card base and I attached that to a black cardstock card. I then die-cut a smaller rectangle from white cardstock using the SSS Stitched Rectangles.
I stamped all of the images directly on that rectangle with MFT Natural Ink and colored them in with colored pencils for no-line coloring. I did the same with the sentiment and used a black colored pencil over the bottom letters. I love how the sentiment looks. I added a bunch of sequins over the bee hive.
This card was the most fun to make! This paper is in the kit and it just calls out for coloring! I colored it in with colored pencils and attached it to a yellow cardstock base. I then die-cut a rounded rectangle out of white cardstock. I also die-cut two of the little bee hive dies out of white cardstock. I colored the inside pieces with Copic markers.
I stamped the bees on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink and colored them in with colored pencils. I stamped Bee Yourself with black ink on the top of the rectangle. I colored that in with pencils well. I arranged all of the items over the bottom of the rectangle and added some sequins.
I used the blue patterned paper over the card base and then die-cut a yellow beehive paper one size smaller to go over it. I also die-cut a white stitched rectangle and used that over the two papers.
I stamped the sentiment and the stitched lines and the three bees directly on the rectangle with black ink. I stamped another bee on white cardstock with black ink and the bee hive with MFT Natural Ink. I colored them all in with colored pencils. I also colored in the letters with colored pencils. I attached the bee hive and the one single bee over the bottom left of the rectangle and added some sequins.
I hope you enjoyed this array of bee cards. Aren't the papers perfect for making backgrounds? I love the little bees too - they are super cute. I do think all my cards look a lot alike but that is probably because I used the same color scheme on all of them. My favorite thing in the kit is that black and white floral paper because it was like a coloring book and so fun to color! I hope you enjoy working with this kit too and thanks so much for visiting! I love your cards! That colored floral background is adorable. Think I'm gonna have to add this kit to my collection!
