Today (((right now at 7:00 pm pst))) the Hello Bluebird new release is LIVE! This means you can now go to the HB website and purchase all of the cute products I'll be using in this post! I love their stamps (dare I say they are my favorite designs in the industry - just so so me!). So rather than purchase every product they made, I joined the DT so I get them for free! That also gives me the excuse to spend way too much of my time coloring their cute images. Here is an example of my obsession:
There are six new stamp sets in this release and I have cards made with each one (except Strawberry Jam), so I'll show you them in use one by one. There are also 3 stand a lone dies - one frame die, one scene die, and one word die. I'll also be using those 3 in my cards. So let's get started with all of these cards I speak of!
CARD 1: FIELD MICE AND GALLERY FRAME 4 TAG:
This card is done with what I call my "random stamping" method. I do this with almost all small stamp sets as I love puzzles and it's like putting a puzzle together. I use my Misti to do it and just arrange all of the images from the Field Mice Stamp Set on a white cardstock piece cut the size of a card. I stamped them all with a light color of ink (I use MFT Natural Hybrid Ink). I then colored them all in with colored pencils - that's the fun part! I have an addiction problem if I haven't already mentioned it.
I cut apart the sentiment from the set "well hello there" into three pieces so I could stamp it on the small tag that is part of the new Gallery Frame 4 die set. I die-cut it from both dark gray cardstock and white cardstock so I could "shadow" it. I used some Pretty Pink Posh Raspberry Jewels around the tag. I also added some White Blizzard Nuvo Drops around the images to finish the card. Don't know why - I just liked those glittery blobs filling in any open spaces!
CARD 2: STORYBOOK FRIENDS AND GALLERY FRAME 2
This is my favorite card from the new release and I really wish it looked as good in photos as it does in real life. I think it might be in my favorite top 5 cards I've ever made even! I started with a SSS Tiny Dot Stencil and Ranger Texture Paste. I rubbed the texture paste over the stencil on a card size piece of white cardstock.
Next, I die cut the Gallery Frame #2 die from white cardstock and cut off the bottom portion. I used that piece as a "window". I stamped the scene stamp in the Storybook Friends stamp set with MFT Natural Ink on the inside piece. I colored it with Copic Markers and colored pencils. I made the path a pink stone path with colored pencils. I stamped the greeting from the set on the top of the piece with black ink. I covered this piece with a piece of transparency so it looked like a window (which is one thing you can't see in the photos). I then put the frame over it and attached it all to the background.
I felt like this angle would show off the dimension of the card a little better. I stamped the mice on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink and colored them with colored pencils. I attached them with foam tape so they would over-lap the dimension of the window. I also attached the small flower bouquet on the top of the window from the set. I stopped there as I wanted it to look clean. I realize my mice aren't "grounded" and I did think of putting a ground under them, but I felt like it would ruin the flow of the card. So I'm pretending they are grounded on their tops by the frame!
CARD 3: BEACH BABES AND OCEAN SCENE:
This card is made with the new Ocean Scene die. I die-cut it from white cardstock and then colored it with Copic markers. I didn't want the sky to match the water, so I made it look like a sunset. I wanted this to be a pool not the ocean, so I colored it to look more like that. I guess the lines in it make it look more like an ocean though? I stamped the sentiment (well actually 2 sentiments) in black ink over the sky.
I stamped all the images from the Beach Babes stamp set with MFT Natural Ink and colored them all in with colored pencils. It might have been a good idea to stamp the pigs with a pinkish/flesh colored ink so the ink looked like a natural outline for the coloring. This color worked well though and I also outlined them with colored pencil. I used a white Uniball marker on the ball center and added lines to it. I used clear Nuvo Drops over the water droplets - didn't like how I used black ink around them though - I should have used a light color and then just colored them in as they jump off the water too much. At least they match the greeting and tie the black in. I also added some glittery Nuvo Drops on the ocean and sky because ... I just couldn't stop. Ever. haha
CARD 4: SEASIDE GIRLS AND OCEAN SCENE
For this card, I made the background with the Ocean Scene background die again, but this time I used it as a beach. I'll go into detail on that in the next photo.
You can turn the cloud portion upside down and the beach portion upside down just FYI. So you can make it work either way you prefer. I think I switched them both upside down so the clouds are on the top of the scene and the ocean had the more wavy lines along the edge. I colored it all in with Copic markers. I added dots with markers as well and used the clear one to remove some of the color. That worked nicely on the water to give it more of a realistic look. I covered the clouds and the edge of the water with White Blizzard Nuvo Drops.
Note: this photo and the next one are over brightened. Ok note over... I stamped all of the images from Seaside Girls on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink again and colored with pencils again. I attached them over the background creating a little beach scene. I added the birds over the clouds.
I stamped the sentiment in the middle of the sky with black ink.
CARD 5: MORE JUNGLE LITTLES AND WILD ABOUT YOU WORDS
I started with the background using a card size piece of white cardstock. I used three colors of Distress Oxide Ink on the background - peeled paint, fossilized amber, and frayed burlap. I used my new Picket Fence brushes to apply the color and oh my, they sure do make a difference in my ink blending skills. I flicked some water over it to add bleached spots and then some brown watercolor over it for brown spots. I die-cut the "wild about you" die twice from white cardstock. I colored one in with Copic markers. I layered them in the center of the card.
I stamped the word "rawr" over one of the letters with brown ink (Lawn Fawn Walnut Ink). I stamped all of the images from the More Jungle Littles stamp set on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink and colored them in with colored pencils.
I arranged the animals on the top and the bottom of the "wild about you" die. I tucked some over and some under the greeting. I added a few leaves as well. I made this card while watching the Bachelorette so it reminds me of that show while I'm typing it right now. Anyone watching it? I read Reality Steve too, so I'm a hard core cheating addict to this show!
Well, thank you so much for visiting today. The new Hello Bluebird products will be in stock on SSS soon and I'll link them to that store as well in case you have a preference, but in the mean time they are linked to the HB store in the supply list below. Have a great day friends! Suzy
Thanks for showing all of your cards and sharing the details on how you made them! I'm so excited to get my new release order and make something! I'll definitely use those mice first!!!
