Today is the Simon Says Stamp new release called Celebrate You. It is full of birthday, Father's Day, and floral products. I have a new set of watercolor cards in this release called Celebrate Dad. Here is an image:
This is the first time I have drawn a boy/man set of cards. It was a bit of a challenge for me as I gravitate towards girly flowery images! I will have them all painted on my blog during the blog hop tomorrow if you want to see them all done. I tried some new creative things with the cards this time to inspire you to use the designs in different ways.
Today's "one stamp, five ways" post uses one of the new products in this Celebrate You release called Gerbera Daisy Background Stamp. Funny thing is my daughter recently looked up these flowers while she was coloring one of my cards below. She told me that they were Gerbera daisies, not Gerber daisies. I was so confused as I have always called them Gerber. I talked to my mom about it as she is a flower expert and she told me they are known as Gerber daisies and no one really calls them Gerbera. I felt much better as I thought I had been saying it wrong all my life. I actually have six cards to share with you today, so let's get started. I am also working on a "one stamp, five ways" post using the new Daisy Bouquet stamp set that will be on the SSS blog on May 30th.
For this card, I used a full card size of white cardstock that is die-cut with the largest Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle. I stamped the Gerbera Daisy background stamp with MFT Natural Ink for a no-line coloring look. I then colored the flower with my colored pencil collection which includes Prismacolors, Polychromos, and Luminance. I will be doing a blog post on how these differ and what my preference is soon. And now I have a fourth set that I got for Mother's Day called Pablos also by Caran d' Arche.
For the greeting, I used the SSS Thankful die and colored the inside piece with Copic Markers to match the card. I stamped the smaller greeting from the Mom Flowers stamp set with black ink using the SSS Sentiment Labels die. I added some PPP jewels from the Valentine Jewel Mix.
CARD 2:
I made this card by stamping the Daisy background stamp on watercolor paper with white embossing powder. I then painted it with Daniel Smith watercolors. I love how they look with white outlines and soft watercolors.
I used two small rectangles from the SSS Stitched Rectangles dies - one from white cardstock and one from green to "shadow" the white one. I stamped the "thank you" sentiment with black ink using the Mandy's Flower stamp set. I used some of the PPP Valentine Mix jewels around the sentiment.
CARD 3:
Anytime I use Copics on a card recently, my daughter colors for me. She is an artist, so she picks the colors to use as well as doing the coloring. I don't particularly like to use Copics as I'm addicted to colored pencils. She gets so excited when I get new background stamps as those are the only ones she colors. She doesn't shade though, so I add shading to her coloring with my colored pencils. For this card, I stamped the Daisy background stamp with black ink on white cardstock. Don't you love the fun bright colors she used?
I used a SSS Stitched Square die for the sentiment. I stamped a greeting from the Good Vibes stamp set that went with the whole flower child sixties look of the bright daisies. I tied some twine behind the sentiment block and added some PPP yellow, pink and white jewels around it.
CARD 4:
I started this card with a piece of Ranger watercolor paper (as it is pure white) and then I used a flat brush and watercolored stripes using the colors of the rainbow on the paper. I made sure to wet the entire piece of paper first so the colors ran into each other blending as I moved down. Once it was dry, I embossed the Daisy background stamp with white embossing powder over the watercolored background.
I used the Hello Script die for the sentiment as well as a strip greeting from the May Card Kit. I also used the SSS Stitching Butterflies dies and Adeline Butterfly dies. I added some PPP white jewels around the sentiment.
CARD 5:
I wasn't sure I liked this card which is why I ended up making six as I didn't know if I would show this one. I decided it was worth showing even though I don't love it! I wanted to emboss the stamp over an alcohol ink background. But I am new at making alcohol ink backgrounds and I'm not very good at them yet! I used the Ranger Alcohol Pearl Inks Kit 1 for the colors (red, orange, and yellow). I mixed in some Gold alcohol ink as well which is where I think I went wrong as it looks more brown when you look at the card straight on.
I used the Whoa, You're Amazing die cut from white cardstock for the sentiment. I colored the letters with Copic Markers. I added some white jewels around the sentiment.
CARD 6:
For this card, I stamped the Daisy stamp on watercolor paper with Wendy Vecchi Sunflower embossing powder. I then painted the flowers and leaves with Brutus Monroe Metallic watercolors. I've told you about these before - I just recently got them and I love using them. They are Metallic, so there is LOTS of sheen in them which you can see better in the next photo.
I used the SSS Thanks Scallop Border die for the sentiment cut from white cardstock along the top of the card. I colored the letters in with Copic markers. I tied some Lawn Fawn Pink Lemonade twine along the top of the card.
And that is it! I hope you enjoyed all of these cards today. I tried to use as many different techniques as I could think of with a background stamp to get you inspired to try new things with yours. Leave me a comment if you have more ideas on how to use one as I would love to steal, I mean try out your idea! Sometimes I run out of things to try and I need some help over here! I hope you will come back on Thursday for the Celebrate You blog hop! Thank you so much for visiting today! Suzy
Love all your takes on this gerbera daisy background. They are all so pretty. I am new at using the alcohol inks too. Still trying to improve my technique.

It is amazing to see how different the cards look even though they are all the same stamp.

WOW Suzy, these are all so pretty. (I missed seeing this so I am happy you linked it.) This background is one of my faves in this release so it was fun to see how you used it in so many different ways. TFS!
