Today is the release day for the Simon Says Stamp April card kit. It is called Hello Darling. Here is an image of the kit:
The kit is available for purchase HERE, but you can also purchase just the Hello Darling Stamp Set or just the Rainboot Planter Wafer Die. Here are my five cards (I'm at Create and it's almost 1:00 am, so this is going to be a short and sweet post - ok, maybe not so sweet!).
Card 1:
I usually like to start with my favorite, so this one earned that award from me! I die-cut a rectangle from a paper in the kit for the background. There are lots of checks and simple patterns on the reverse sides of the papers that make nice backgrounds. I stamped the little dots and the "thinking of you" with SSS Fern Ink on the cream cardstock in the kit. I used the Sentiment Labels for both strips (love that die so much!).
I colored the two boot dies with colored pencils in nice, bright spring colors. I placed those over the green dot banner and then placed the "thinking of you" banner over the top. I added some Nuvo drops in Emerald City around the sentiment and some Glossy White Nuvo Drops on the boots.
Card 2:
This card was fun to make. I used one of the patterned papers in the kit for the yellow stripes and then die-cut a piece of white cardstock using the SSS Scallop Stitches Die along both edges. I stamped all of the bikes and the sentiment in between the bikes using MFT Natural Ink for no-line stamping. I colored them all in with colored pencils. That was the fun part! If you stamp with a light color ink, you can just go over the ink with pencils even for the sentiment. I like being able to add color to flat stamps that are meant to be inked in color. Oh tricky me - hehehehe.
After all that fun coloring was done, I added some Tonic Nuvo Drops in glitter colors: Yellow Bird, Pink Champagne, and Aquatic Mist.
Card 3:
So let me tell you a little secret. This card came together in maybe 5 minutes. It was getting dark and I was leaving for this trip to Ohio in the am. I had to really rush to get one more card done. So I started with my favorite paper in the kit - these cute succulents. I die-cut this into a card sized stitched rectangle. The card was now half way done - haha.
I used the Lawn Fawn 4 bar stitched rectangle dies for the sentiment (fit perfectly in the second to smallest one). I embossed it with Wendy Vecchi Leaf Green embossing powder. I used the cream cardstock in the kit for all of these items so they matched the paper. I also embossed some of the two leaf stamps in the same color and fussy cut them out and tucked them under the sentiment rectangle. See, all done in 5 minutes! It's not my favorite, but it can pass right?!?!?! The paper saves it haha!
Card 4:
This card and the bike card made up for my last rushed card. I stamped this entire card and it is actually a one layer card. If you know me well, having only one layer is not easy for me. I like LOTS of details! But this stamp set has so many cute little stamps in it that I had to make use of them! I would love to tell you all the colors of SSS inks I used, but I left my list at home - ugh! I even took the time to write them all down as I stamped it! Anyway, I used a bunch of SSS inks for all this stamping! I do remember the blue pot was Audrey Blue as when I stamped it I was in love with the color and happened to memorize it for future use! I have a lot of colors as I have all the little mini ink pads since I don't use colored ink often. I'm being way too wordy - must be because it is now 1:08 and I'm exhausted!
I used the dot border stamp for the two outside edges and this stamp was so perfect for adding Tonic Nuvo Drops over! They fit perfectly over all the small dots on it. I might use this for patterns in the future! I also used Nuvo Drops over the lines on the top and bottom and all over the pots. I had to add a little texture and dimension to this very flat card! I stamped the sentiment with black ink on the larger pot.
Card 5:
This was another fairly quick card. Again, I used one of the pretty papers for the background with a large stitched rectangle die. Getting tired. Not making sense. Keep reading. I die-cut a stitched oval from the cream cardstock in the kit. I embossed the stamps with Pink Peony and Leaf Green Wendy Vecchi embossing powders (so love these - they turn out perfect every time - must get every color - maybe at the Create store tomorrow - yippee - so tired).
And that's pretty much it for this easy card! I added some PPP sparkling clear sequins and called it done!
Thanks for visiting today. I'll be back soon with a "one stamp, five ways" post using the new SSS Peony background stamp as promised. I also have a Hello Bluebird post coming this week. Stay tuned. Good night! Suzy
PS: Just in case you don't have any empathy for me - let me tell you about my travel day. First plane was cancelled. Second plane was late - so late. Barely made my connection in Phoenix. Ran to the gate and realized I had actually arrived at the gate next to the one I was leaving from, but I ran to another one I had thought it was at - which was quite far away. Then while I was looking at this cute puppy that was in a man's arms, I tripped over a big suitcase some lady was pulling and I slightly peed my pants. Very traumatic and hurt my back! Then I sat on the inside seat with two people next to me for 4 hours and never got up so as to not disturb anyone. My knees were killing me! And I couldn't get online to type this post as I couldn't figure out how to get on the go-go! I ubered to the hotel and my first uber left as he was annoyed my baggage was taking so long. So I had to wait for another. Long story short, it took me 12 hours to get here. So do I have the right to be exhausted? Carry on (appropriate as I should have done that instead of checking my bag!).....
Yeah! Hot to your site.water colored this evening. So glad to gave met you.
