I'm so excited about this blog post. I love creating, but I sure do hate typing out posts!!! But this one I'm so excited to share because a) I adore, love, more love, more adore this stamp set and all of Stacy Yacula's stamp sets and b) I think my cards today are amaze balls (note - I don't usually compliment my own work, but who could go wrong with these stamps?!?!?! So today I have a "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you using the newest MFT Stacy Yacula stamp set called Tweet Friends. Here is an image of the stamp:
And here are my five cards with directions and supplies for each.
Card 1:
I started this card with a background I had made previously on this post about making card backgrounds ahead of time. I painted it with watercolor stripes in purple and blue with a wet on wet technique. I die-cut a stitched oval from the center. I used this oval as the frame to put the flowers and leaves around. On the inside piece (oval), I drew grass blades on the bottom and I stamped the sentiment with black ink on the top. I then attached it inside the background on a card base. Next, I die-cut a small frame using the SSS largest Stitched Rectangle die. I placed that over the background.
Next I stamped the birds, flowers, and leaves on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink. I colored them in with colored pencils. You can see that I purposely used strokes to mimic fur and let the strokes go outside of the borders. I colored the cheeks pink and used a white Uniball gel pen for dots inside them. I used a fine tip black marker for the inside of the flowers and for the birds feet (claws? - what is the term?!?!?!). I attached the flower and leaf stamps around the oval turning them different directions so they all fit. I attached the birds over the grass. I finished the card by adding Pale Periwinkle Jewel Tonic Nuvo Drops around the background (because this card wasn't busy enough yet - hahaha!). Whew, I called it done...
Card 2:
I used another background from that same blog post for this card - see, making them ahead of time really is helpful! I painted stripes with blue watercolor on Ranger watercolor paper (because it is pure white I use it all the time for backgrounds). I then die-cut these little Birch Tree dies out of white cardstock and I colored them with colored pencils. I used pencils so they would have strokes looking like wood. I attached those 3 over the background going horizontal so they look like branches on a tree. I stamped the sentiment on the top of the card with black ink. I die-cut a frame using the PPP Stitched Notes die and attached that over the background.
I stamped all of the images with MFT Natural Ink on white cardstock and colored them with colored pencils. I colored the crown on the bird with a silver glitter pen - I use two, the Silver Uniball and the silver gel pen in the KaiserCraft glitter pen set. I added some Gold Coast Nuvo Drops to the dots on the crown to dress it up. I attached the bird and the leaves to the tree branches. I added some notes stamped in black ink. I also added some Sea Breeze Jewel Nuvo Drops around the branches to fill in blank spots. Because I can't have any blank spots on my cards! ha
Card 3:
This little bird kills me with his cuteness! I started by die-cutting the MFT Stitched Circle Frame die from the top center of a card size piece of white cardstock. Next I used the SSS Tiny Dots Stencil and Texture Paste to create a background shown on the same blog post. I painted a piece of watercolor paper with pink and blue stripes to put on the inside of my shaker. I used several PPP sequins and jewels on the inside of the shaker including white jewels, 4mm and 6mm droplets, and sparkling clear sequins. I also stamped several of the notes in the stamp set with black ink and added them to the shaker.
I stamped the cute little bird with MFT Natural Ink and colored her with pink colored pencils. I attached her to the top of the shaker window. I stamped a sentiment on a white banner in black ink and attached that to the bottom of the card. I used some 4mm droplets on each end of the banner. I glued some 4mm sparkling clear sequins to the top of the shaker window.
Card 3:
I created the background on that same blog post mentioned several times above. I used blue watercolors and added some little circles to it. I die-cut some MFT Stitched Snow Drifts out of white cardstock. I blended Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron Distress Oxide Ink on the top of these. I layered them on the bottom of the background. I die-cut a frame using the MFT Stitched Rounded Rectangle STAX out of white cardstock and attached that to the top of the background. I stamped some notes in black ink on the sky and then used white embossing powder for the sentiment on the bottom of the grass.
I stamped all of the images with MFT Natural Ink on white cardstock. I then colored them all in with colored pencils. I arranged them in a little scene on the background. I used Tonic Nuvo Glitter Drops on the dots on the mushrooms. I applied some Blue Lagoon Glitter Drops to the sky. I colored the crown with a Gold Uniball and used Ranger Gold Stickles on the dots on the top.
Card 5:
This is my least favorite card as it isn't in my favorite color scheme! I wanted to color some of the birds in more natural hues, so this was my attempt at that. I'd like to think that all birds are bright yellow and pink, but they just aren't! I created the background using Distress Oxide Inks on white cardstock. I die-cut a rolling hill using the MFT Stitched Snow Drifts die and rubbed Distress Oxide inks in Mowed Lawn, Lucky Clover, and Evergreen Bough on it. I layered the grass over the background and then attached a frame made with the PPP Stitched Notes die. I die-cut some MFT Solid Birch Tree dies and rubbed Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain Distress Oxide Ink on them. I attached those over the background under the frame.
I stamped all of the images with MFT Natural Ink and colored them with colored pencils. I attached them over the background. I added some Tonic Nuvo Drops in Metallic Copper and English Mustard as drops on the mushrooms. I used Bottle Green as drops on the grass hill. I used Orange Marmalade Jewel over the beaks.
That's it - I'm done typing and now I get to share my new favorite stamp set and cards with you - see, it was all worth it! Thank you as always for visiting and all of the supplies I used are below linked to both SSS and MFT stores. Happy last week before Christmas! Suzy
Each of your cards are adorable. I especially like that the birds are all in pretty colors. On my way over to MFT Stamps to order the set!
