Hello again two days in a row! I'm actually here with my second "one stamp, five ways" post in a week - don't get used to this hahaha. For today's post I'm using the SSS December Card Kit called Holiday Cheer. I usually focus on the stamp when doing kit posts so that my title actually applies (one stamp, five ways). But this kit has two of my watercolor cards in it, so they are part of my five cards and only 3 focus on using the stamp. Forgive me please! I've always been a rule breaker... You can purchase the little candy cane die I use on one of my cards separately as well as the stamp set separately.
Here is an image of the kit and the cute stamp set that is in it as well as the two watercolor cards I'll be showing you painted:
These 3 images were my favorites from the stamp set so of course I wanted to use all three together! I stamped them all with MFT Natural Ink and then colored them in with colored pencils. For the tree, I colored it with a lighter green first and then used a darker green to put little strokes all over it giving it the look of texture. I used my newest Tonic Nuvo Drops for the ornaments called Holiday Cheer - it's a beautiful dark red with some gold glitter in it as well. I used a gold uniball pen for the lines on the tree. I stamped the three banners with word stamps from the set using black intense ink. I love how there are lots of little sayings you can use on these signs by combining different stamps in the set.
For the background, I die-cut a piece of the patterned paper in the kit with a large stitched rectangle. I also die-cut a white one and then used the SSS Drifting Stitches die to create a snow bank. I attached the snow over the blue patterned paper background to use for my scene.
I attached all of the stamped images over the background. I stamped some of the snowflakes with MFT Natural Ink and then outlined them with a silver gel pen from my Kaiser Craft glitter pen set or you could use a Silver Uniball. I used Silver Glitter Nuvo Drops over the snowflakes. I used the Holiday Cheer drops over the heart. I attached all of those to the background as well to finish the card.
Card 2:
This card focuses on the cute little candy cane and bow die that comes with the kit. I die-cut it three times from both white and red cardstock. I kept the white ones intact and then glued just the red outline one over the white one. I die-cut a piece of white cardstock just smaller than the red card base. Then I did cut a piece of the holly leaf patterned paper one size smaller using the SSS Stitched rectangle set and layered the three. I attached the three candy canes over the background.
I colored the white bows with Copic Markers - Peach, Coral, and Cadmium Red blended outward. I attached those to the center of each candy cane. I stamped the sentiment on a white banner and added that to the bottom of the card. I also added some of the red sequins included in the kit.
Card 3:
This card goes back to using the cute little santa and sign stamp. I stamped them with MFT Natural Ink and colored them with colored pencils again. I created the background on this blog post about creating winter sky backgrounds ahead of time. It is created with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink rubbed over watercolor cardstock I sprayed with Distress Resist Spray. I used the Drifting Stitches border die for the snow bank again.
I attached the stamped images over the background. I also stamped a bunch of the snowflakes and colored them with a silver glitter pen again and used Silver Glitter nuvo drops over them. I stamped the sentiment with black intense ink on the bottom of the card and added some silver confetti sequins around the sky.
Card 4:
This one was so fun to color. I used Daniel Smith watercolors in really bright shades. I then used lots of Tonic Glitter Nuvo Drops over the ornaments - all the colors are listed in the supplies. I colored the title with colored pencils and then used the glitter nuvo drops on the letters.
I used an N2 Copic Marker to add shadows behind the letters and ornaments to make them look more dimensional. I used a gold uniball on the top of the ornaments.
I added sequins from the kit as well as some from the Party Time sequin mix.
Card 5:
This is my second watercolor card in the kit. I used my Daniel Smith watercolors to paint it. I used Tonic Nuvo Drops in Chocolate Fondue for the darker areas of the reindeer. I used Strawberry Coulis drops over the letters for more dimension.
Once the reindeer and background were watercolored, I used the snow stamp in the stamp set to add snow behind the deer. I used a paper scrap to block areas of the deer so the snow wasn't on top of him as he needed to look like he was in the foreground. When I got some embossing powder on him, I used a wet paintbrush to brush off the embossing powder. I added some snowflake sequins over the background.
What a cute card kit, right? I love this one - can't get enough holiday products for my card making obsession over here! And the innards of this kit are my favorite Christmas colors - reds and teals yummy yummy (I've been singing the song fruit salad, yummy yummy over and over for grandkids lately so there you go!). Have a great week and thanks as always for visiting my blog today! All products used in this post are listed below with links to the SSS store. Suzy
