Today I finally have a new "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you - these take a bit more time than my usual posts, so when I'm busy I don't get them done very often! The reason I did one today is I got really lucky and MFT sent me some of their new release which goes live and is ready for purchase on September 13th at 8:00 am pst. I was so excited to see Stacey Yacula was illustrating a stamp line for MFT as she is one of my favorite designers. I've always wanted to buy her stamps, but I never bought any from Purple Onions Design, so having them available at MFT makes me really excited! Her first set was penguins which I still want to buy and this is the second set called Warm and Feathered Hugs. These are little furry owls, but when I got them, I thought they were birds. So I colored them as if they were - so forgive me if my colors don't go with owls hahaha.
MFT also has two new dies that I incorporated into my cards called the Snowflake Window Die-namics and the Christmas Tree Window Die-namics (free with a $60 purchase from MFT). I have five cards to show you each using the Warm and Feathered Hugs stamps and dies in different ways, so let's get started! Here is an image of the stamp set:
Card 1:
To make this card, I started with a pre-made background I had from THIS BLOG post about making winter sky backgrounds for cards. I won't go into the directions again since they are there! I used Distress Oxide Inks and Ranger Resist Spray to create it. I used some of the Slopes and Snow Drift dies by MFT for the hills. I stamped the trees from the Warm and Feathered Hugs stamp set in black intense ink to place in the background over the hills.
I stamped the darling little owl on the sled with MFT Natural Ink and colored it in with colored pencils. I attached that over the hills. I embossed the 3 snowflakes in the set with white embossing powder over the background. Note: There are three snowflakes that come with this stamp set. I some how lost one of them before creating this card. So I used two from a SSS stamp set to fool you into thinking I was using the right one haha. So ignore mine if they don't match the exact designs in this set. I blame the vacuum cleaner. I stamped the sentiment with Black Intense Ink on the bottom of the hills.
Card 2:
I created this background by embossing the three snowflakes (before I lost one!) on a piece of Ranger watercolor paper with white embossing powder - I used the WOW Puffy White embossing powder. I then used my Daniel Smith watercolors to paint the sky over the snowflakes. Some of the paint got into my embossed images making them less white and more blue - so if I did it again, I would emboss them after I painted the background. I then used some die-cut Birch Trees and Stitched Hills by MFT die-cut from white cardstock over the background to create a scene.
I stamped the owls with MFT Natural Ink again and colored them in with colored pencils. You can see I thought they were birds at this point, so I used colors that owls would never be in. But that's ok - I think it looks cute this way as it's not suppose to be realistic, right?!?!?! I attached my two colorful owls onto the background scene. I stamped the sentiment on the bottom of the hills with black intense ink. I added three more snowflakes that I die-cut out using MFT Natural Ink with a silver glitter pen over the top.
Card 3:
I really love this background - it is another one I made ahead of time in THIS BLOG post where there are directions. I used Distress Oxide Inks on it again - these colors make me giddy! I created snow using a Hero Arts White Ink Spray that I can no longer find in any store, so try the Ranger white distress spray stain instead. I used some more stitched hills for the base of the card. I stamped the sentiment on the top of the background with white embossing powder.
I stamped two of the owls on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink and then colored them in with colored pencils. This time I decided to make them furry so I used lots of little strokes and made the strokes go outside the lines. I also gave them some eyelashes. I also stamped the trees with MFT Natural Ink and then colored over it with a brown colored pencil for a soft look. I finished the card with some sparkling clear snowflake sequins.
Card 4:
For the background of this card (which by the way is on the same blog post about creating winter skies I've mentioned on the last two cards!), I used a SSS cling stamp called Mod Trees and white embossing powder. I then rubbed Distress Oxide Inks over it. I used a stitched hill for the snow over the background and then I die-cut the new Christmas Tree Window Die-namics (free with a $60 purchase from MFT) from white cardstock. I cut around the embossed edges of the tree and star and attached the entire image to the center of the card. I then colored the tree's inside pieces with green colored pencils. I used Tonic Nuvo Drops over the star and over the ornaments and stars on the tree.
I stamped the owls with black intense ink and I colored them in with my new set of Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens. That is why they don't look shaded as I only used one color for each area. But they really sparkle if you see them in person - so they look really cool! I attached them with foam tape behind them so they stood out from the background. I stamped the sentiment on the bottom of the card and embossed it with Leaf Green embossing powder. I added some snowflake sequins again.
Card 5:
Another background made on my Winter Skies background blog post HERE. I used Distress Oxide Inks and the MFT Snow Flurry stencil for the snow. I used Salty Ocean and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide Inks for the background. I used another stitched snowdrift for the ground. I die-cut the Snowflake Window Die-namics out of white cardstock. I tucked the die under the white snow drift and over the background.
I used black ink for these images from the stamp set - I left the trees in black to look like they are shadowed. I colored the cute little owl on the sled with the same Spectrum Noir pens. I embossed the sentiment on the bottom with WOW Royal Crush Glitter Embossing powder. I added some snowflakes from the set over the background as well.
That's it my friends! Is this not the cutest stamp set ever? I just love it! I hope you enjoyed all of my cards. I am certainly making them faster since all my backgrounds are made ahead of time! All of the products I used are listed below linked to both the MFT and SSS stores. Thanks as always for visiting today! Suzy
