Today I have a "one stamp, five ways" post for you using the new Simon Says Stamp August card kit called Mandy's Flowers. Whenever I do a card kit post, I like to focus on the stamp set since that is the point of my "one stamp, five ways" posts. I only used card kit products on each card though (except for some die-cuts which will be listed in the supplies below). Here is an image of the card kit in full and the stamp set:
The stamp set is available for separate purchase as is the floral background stamp included in the kit! If you don't want to spend money on the entire kit, buying just the stamp is a great alternative and you can still make cards like the ones below with other products you have in your stash.
Tips:
- Die-cut the largest rectangle from the SSS Stitched Rectangle set (this is the only rectangle set I have that has stitching on both the outside and inside of the rectangles which is why it works so nice for this technique); then die-cut the smaller rectangle from the bottom right side of the patterned paper leaving stitched on the outside of this opening
- Attach the patterned paper to a white cardstock base; also die-cut a banner from white cardstock
- Stamp the images on white cardstock and color in with Copic markers; then add shading and details with colored pencils; attach the flower vase to the inside of the smaller rectangle
- Stamp the sentiment from the stamp set with MFT Natural Ink on the white banner and color over it with colored pencils to match the vase (or use colored ink which would be much easier, but I like a challenge!)
- Add some of the Bubblegum Tonic Nuvo Drops around the vase to finish the card and a bow of the hemp included in the kit on the left side of the card (when tying the bow, I left the center of it wide as well so it looks like a three bubble bow)
Card 2:
Tips:
- This card looks so country to me - the card kit does have a country kitchen type of look to it; die-cut the floral paper with a large stitched rectangle and then die-cut a scalloped border off the edge and used the striped paper behind it
- Stamp all of the images with MFT Natural Ink and color them in with Copic markers and then colored pencils; I outlined the words on the jar and the words in the sentiment with colored pencils
- Fussy cut all of the images out and attach the fence over the stitched rectangle and the jar to the right of both
- Add some Bubblegum Tonic Nuvo Drops around the sentiment
Card 3:
Tips:
- This card is a little "out of the box" for me! I wanted to create a clean background using those darling Doodlebug epoxy hearts (they can be purchased separately HERE) and no patterned paper to change the look of the stamp set up; I used a ruler and a pencil to mark lines on the paper and then I used a turquoise colored pencil over all of the lines (they are not the same size which really bugs me as the colored pencil wasn't always sharp or would turn slightly throwing my lines off - being a perfectionist this drove me crazy, so please don't notice!)
- Attach an epoxy heart from the kit over each of the line intersections to create the backgrtound
- Stamp the small pot of flowers on white cardstock with MFT Natural ink and color in with Copics and colored pencils
- Stamp the heart stamp on the front of the pot and then the thank you sentiment on the edge of the pot with black ink
- Use the Bubblegum Tonic Nuvo Drops on the center of the flower and over the pot
- I added some Lawn fawn peppermint twine to the left side of the card
Card 4:
Tips:
- This beautiful embossed paper is in the kit and it completely changes up the way the kit looks since it is bright turquoise; I die-cut it with the largest SSS stitched rectangle die
- Attach the embossed paper to a white card base; attach the small white hearts in a line on the bottom of the card
- Stamp the circle with MFT Natural ink and color in with colored pencils; then stamp the sentiment stamps with black ink inside the cirlce
- Fussy cut the circle out and attach that to the top right side of the card; add some epoxy hearts and Bubblegum Nuvo Drops around the sentiment
Card 5:
Tips:
- This card also doesn't use any of the gorgeous patterned papers in the kit (only 2 of my cards do, so I have lots of paper left to use on other things); I embossed the floral background stamp in the kit over the background with white embossing powder
- I then watercolored the background with coral paint (mixing some pink and orange together to get this color)
- I die-cut a small stitched oval and embossed the sentiment on it with green embossing ink
- I stamped the vase and flower with MFT Natural Ink and colored it in with Copics and colored pencils
- Place the oval over the bottom of the card and the vase overlapping the oval; then add three strips of green and white striped twine around the left side of the card
Thank you so much for visiting today - I hope these five cards motivated you to use this kit (or buy it! ha). I'm sitting on my bed blogging watching a Hallmark movie - for some reason they are playing Christmas ones today - so Merry Christmas to you all hahaha! Speaking of Christmas, SSS has a new elves stamp set out (Christmas in July anyone???) and they are giving away a bundle of Christmas products with each one purchased. I thought I would mention it as I LOVE and collect elves so I will have to buy this set! Thanks again and have a great weekend friends! suzy
Lovely cards! You're so talented! I got to play with this kit and love the stamp set.
