Today the new Simon Says Stamp card kit named Cool Summer has hit the market! I love kit release day as I usually have quite a few cards to share with you. Today I am doing a "one stamp, five ways" with the stamp set in the kit, but as usual I break my own rules and I have six cards. The cards focus on the stamp set, but I only used the products in the kit on these cards. Here is an image of the kit:
Here is an image of the cute stamp set (so versatile with so many salutations and I think I used ALL of them!) which can be purchased separately HERE:
Card 1:
Tips:
- Use a Misti stamping tool when doing a random stamped card as you can line the stamps up like a puzzle and stamp many of them at one time
- Use white embossing powder to stamp the images and watercolor inside the image for a nice white outline
- Outline the images with a blue colored pencil (or a color to match your background) to provide a shadow and make them pop
- Use colored pencils and glitter pens to shade your images after you paint them
- Die cut your piece with the Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle that is in this set - full size card size and I use it constantly!
- I also use embossing powder (almost always) for my salutations as I like them to have texture and sheen - I use the Wendy Vecchi embossing powders as I love them and they provide the best coverage - this one is Red Geranium
- Some of these salutations are curved so they fit perfectly on the SSS Stitched Oval die cuts
Card 2:
Tips:
- Again, I used Wendy Vecchi embossing powder of the salutation on this one - this time I used Leaf Green
- I stamped the pineapple images with MFT Natural Ink and colored them with Copics and Colored Pencils so they don't have outlines (I love using colored pencils to outline images so they don't have black outlines)
- Use both sequins and Tonic Nuvo Drops around your images (if you are crazy like me and there is never enough on your cards!); I used the sequins in the kit as well as the SSS Hello Summer mix
- Layer two different patterned papers for the background - I used the palm tree paper but then used a small piece of the stripes over the bottom portion; then use the SSS Stitched rectangles for the smaller white one
Card 3:
Tips:
- Create your own patterned paper or background by painting stripes and then a plaid with watercolors on watercolor paper
- The PPP Storybook dies are perfect for using for salutations - the inside pieces fit almost every salutation stamp out there! I used the Storybook 3 for this rectangle.
- This time I used the Wendy Vecchi Sunflower embossing powder for the sentiment
- Stamp the images with a light color of ink and then after coloring with Copics and colored pencils, outline with a fine tip black marker for a more doodled look (I know, I know - why?!?!?!)
- Use a white Uniball marker for the dots on the black seeds
Card 4:
Tips:
- This paper was so perfect for the succulent stamp, so I made sure to color them to match using Colored Pencils over Copics
- Use the little transparency heart stickers from the Amy Tan sticker book in the kit over the succulents
- Add some black Tonic Nuvo Drops on the background to match the black of the hearts
- Use Leaf Green Wendy Vecchi Embossing Powder for the sentiment with a rectangle from the PPP Storybook 1 die
Card 5:
Tips:
- I love the PPP Window Frames die set for shaker cards, but the inside pieces also work nicely for sentiments
- I used the Wendy Vechhi Forget-Me-Knot embossing powder for this sentiment
- I also stamped the little bubbles with the same embossing powder and then I used the Sea Breeze Tonic Jewel Nuvo Drops inside the bubbles
Card 6:
Tips:
- I think this card is my favorite - I used one of the patterned papers in the kit for the background and it is awesome!
- Stamp the flamingos with a natural color of ink and then color them int with Copics and colored pencils; then I outlines with a black marker and colored the legs and some of the body's with a red glitter pen from this set
- I used Ranger white embossing powder for the sentiment as it shows up so well on this paper
Isn't this just the cutest kit ever? It definitely has me in the summer mood. Which is a good thing as I am leaving for Hawaii in a week! Yippee! I'm so excited except for the shopping for a bathing suit today! I hope you are all planning something fun for this summer too! Have a great time at whatever you are doing and hope to see you back soon for a PPP blog hop tomorrow and a SSS new product release in a few days! Whew then my vacation starts! xoxo Suzy
You blow me away time and again, Suzy, with your fantastic and colorful cards. They are so bright and cheery. They make me smile. That first one is amazing! What talent you have. :)
