Hello friends! I'm blogging two days in a row because I'm so excited about the new Simon Says Stamp Fluttering By release! Today is day one of a two day blog hop. I'll be showing you my newest set of watercolor cards called Mothers Day all colored and made into cards. Here is an image of them as they come printed on Ranger Watercolor Paper (which works with any coloring medium you choose). I was shopping for a card recently and realized what a good deal these sets are compared to the prices of cards out there! This set is full of flowers and animals perfect to tell your mom how much you love her.
There are so many products I love in this release that I wanted to show you ALL of it! Here is the release with links in it's entirety:
Next I'll be showing you all of my watercolor cards colored and made into cards. I'll give you some tips I used after some of the cards and then list all of the products I used at the end of this post.
After I painted these zebras with watercolor, I felt like they needed something. They were flat and brown and didn't stand out. So I added some Tonic Nuvo Glitter Drops in Golden Sunset and the spots just popped. I also used Aquatic Mist Glitter drops for the grass. I added some dots with Night Sky glitter drops. Last, I used both black and white drops on the mother's eyes to make them pop.
I colored these flowers with Copics and then colored pencils. After they were done, they felt flat. I went back in with a white and pink colored pencil over the purple on the outer petals to give them some depth around the outside of each petal. The great thing about colored pencils is they are opaque and will color over a darker color. I used a white Uniball marker on the side of the flowers.
I felt like the background of this card needed some color, but I wasn't sure what to use. I ended up with a light wash of yellow and I'm still not sure I love it. I usually make the backgrounds blue or a color that is represented in the flowers. But yellow it is! I added some Tonic Nuvo Jewell drops in Limoncella to finish it. I shadowed all the flowers and letters with a Copic Marker in N2.
I made this flower very sparkly by using my new Gem color set of Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors. That set is so pretty and gives everything a sheen! I outlined the black letters with a white uniball to make them stand out more against the dark flower. I also used it not eh leaves.
I love this llama! My sister's kids call her their Mama Llama as she has Llamas in her neighborhood and they all come up to her each time she visits them. So I based this card on that! I used some colored pencils to give his fur texture. I also used Sherbet Shimmer glitter drops on the pink letters and hearts to give them texture and shine. Oh and don't forget those eyes - black and white drops for sure to make them pop!
I used the Gem colored paints for this flower as well. I love watercoloring big areas and letting the colors run together (see the green from the stem all up in the flowers business? haha). That is the beauty of watercolor my friends! I added some colored pencil lines on the inside of each petal and I used two colors of Jewell drops on the petals and the inside of the flower: Strawberry Coulis and Orange Marmalade.
Ok, let me be really honest. I wasn't sure about the salutation (thus the theme) on this card. But I went with it. A little silly, but we've all got a little silly mamma in our lives don't we?!?!?! I used the Gem paints on this one again over regular watercolors and finished with LOTS of colored pencils. I used glitter drops in Sunlit Meadow on the palm leaves and a white Uniball to give them depth. Does it make sense that the flamingo's legs are going into the sand like that? I don't know, but I couldn't fit the entire legs on there so let's go with that too ha!
This card is for ME!!! I had two grand baby boys in the past few months - one is 3 months and the other is 1 month. And I have a girl who just turned three and yes, I am definitely the frosting for her! She gets whatever she wants from me, especially sugar! I used mustard drops all over the frosting and white ones over the background. Don't forget the N2 Copic to add depth by shadowing all of your letters and the images.
Lots of paint splatters on this one since I left the background white. I also added some nuvo drops in Strawberry Coulis and Rose Water.
I had so much fun painting and "decorating" this house with lots of Nuvo Drops - that is why I wanted you to see the close up so you could see the dimension they add. I love adding them over letters as well. I probably need Nuvo Drop rehab if it is offered somewhere! They really come to life when they are colored, don't they? Maybe I should sell them this way instead haha.
Yesterday I posted a "one stamp, five ways" post using the new Under the Sea Friends stamp and die set. You can see that post HERE. It has five cards with directions and supplies for each. Here are some images of the cards:
Ok, back to blog hop business. Next on the hop is HEATHER HOFFMAN. Simon will be giving away a $25 gift certificate on each stop of this blog hop, so leave comments on each blog for the highest chances to win! Thank you so much for all the love you leave me!!! xoxox Suzy

I'm always amazed at the amount of work that you put into these Simon releases. First you make the drawings, then you color them all in for us! You are something else. The grandma one would be so perfect for my mom too. Thanks for all the hard work you do so we have beautiful things to color and give to others!
