The Simon Says Stamp May Card Kit called Kind Heart was released a few days ago. I just finished 7 cards using it! So this is kind of a "one stamp, five ways" post, but I actually used both stamps in the kit and made 7, so I'm breaking my rules once again! Here is an image of the kit:
Like I mentioned, there are two stamp sets in the kit - they are both sold separately if you prefer not buying the entire kit. One is a 6x8 called Everything Together by Kristina Werner. Her brush lettering is just my favorite! The second set is 3x4 and it is called Take Heart. There is also a die in the kit called Heart that is sold by itself. The kit is full of Pink Fresh papers and puffy stickers from their Let Your Heart collection. There are two SSS mini ink pads in the kit as well which makes me happy as I am collecting as many of them as I can get - small ink pads are so much better to collect as they are less money and smaller to store!
Here are my 7 cards using the kit and focusing on the two stamp sets in it. At the end of this post there is a list of all of the products I used to create these cards.
Card 1:
I started with a stitched rectangle from watercolor paper. I watercolored a light wash of coral paints on the background and splattered some droplets as well. I die-cut a piece of pink cardstock using the Lawn Fawn Fancy Scalloped Rectangle dies. I stamped part of the sentiment on the top of it with black ink. I used the "heart" die that comes with the kit for the second part of the sentiment. I die-cut it from watercolor paper as well and then I rubbed the green ink on it that comes with the kit called Spring Rain (using a Ranger blending tool).
I stamped the cute flower pot on white cardstock with black ink. I colored it in with Copic markers and colored pencils (to shade and add details). I fussy cut around the edges and then attached that over the rectangle. I finished the card with sequins from the SSS Butterfly Kisses set (I have almost used these up - my new favorite sequin mix!). I also added Tonic Nuvo Drops in Sunlit Meadow Glitter and Rose Water Jewel. I also added an epoxy heart from the kit over the flowers.
Card 2:
I kept a couple of my cards very simple! This one uses two of the papers in the kit - one die-cut with a stitched rectangle one size smaller than the card base (I used white cardstock). The second one uses a smaller stitched rectangle from the Lawn Fawn set. I layers them over the card base and then I embossed the sentiment from the large stamp set with Ranger white embossing powder (one the left side of the smaller rectangle).
Last I added some of the puffy heart stickers to the right side of the smaller rectangle. I used the same sequin mix - SSS Butterfly Kisses around the hearts.
Card 3:
I loved this paper so much that I wanted it to be the star of this card. I die-cut it with a stitched rectangle. I used a PPP Window Frame die cut from white cardstock to frame my flowers and salutation. I stamped the flowers from the large stamp set using the Melon ink in the kit. I then colored over the ink with Copic markers to add shading and detail. I used a white Uniball to add white dots on the petals. I stamped the leaves using the Spring Rain ink in the kit and then I outlined them with a metallic green pen from my Kasier Craft set of gel pens.
I stamped the first part of the sentiment with the Spring Rain ink in the kit (I pushed too hard and made a mess of it though!). I used that ink to color the background of the heart die by rubbing it on with a Ranger Blending tool. I used three green sequins in the centers of the flowers from the SSS Butterfly Kisses mix.
Card 4:
this is my other really simple card. I die-cut two stitched rectangles again - one uses a paper in the kit. the other is die-cut from Ranger white watercolor paper. I embossed the border stamp on the bottom with Pink Peony embossing powder and embossed the sentiment above it with forget-me-knot embossing powder. I then watercolored the piece over the embossing powder with coral watercolor.
I layered the two rectangles on a turquoise card base (in the kit). I added some of the puffy stickers from the kit. I stamped the cute little hummingbird and colored him in with colored pencils. I finished it with some black Nuvo Drops.
Card 5:
This one might be my favorite as I love bright colors! the colors in the kit are beautiful, but more muted than I typically use. So this one is more me. It was really simple too! I just started with a stitched rectangle die-cut from watercolor paper. i stamped the sentiment on it with SSS Embossing Ink and then embossed with Ranger white embossing powder. I did the same with the border stamp on the top and the bottom of the sentiment.
Once these were all embossed, I watercolored over them. I wet the entire piece and used a flat 1/2" brush to add the color. I made it a rainbow moving down the card. I kept it very wet so the colors blended into each other. I finished it with some white Tonic Nuvo Drops and added some of the puffy stickers in the top right corner.
Card 6:
I loved this paper - it is so perfect for a card base! I die-cut it with a stitched rectangle and attached it to a card base. I die-cut the word MOM from cream cardstock (in the kit) and from orange cardstock. I then layered them on the bottom of the card. I put a circle puffy sticker in the center of the O to finish the salutation.
I stamped the flowers and leaves using the inks in the kits and then added more color to them with Copic Markers and glitter pens. I gussy cut them out and tucked them behind the title word. I added some Tonic Nuvo Drops in white and in yellow to the flowers and letters. I also added some heart puffy stickers.
Card 7:
I used another paper from the kit die-cut from a stitched rectangle for the base of this card. I also die-cut a small stitched rectangle from white cardstock. I stamped the sentiment from the smaller stamp set on the rectangle. I used two inks from This Ink Pad Set - I pressed one color on the top of the letters and the other darker color on the bottom of the letters. I cut the yellow strip from another one of the papers and layered that over the background paper. I then added the stitched rectangle with the salutation on the off that strip.
I stamped the flowers with MFT Natural Ink on white cardstock and colored them in with copic markers and colored pencils. I used a strip of white Tonic Nuvo Drops on the pot. I fussy cut it out and attached it over the satiation rectangle. I then finished the card with some Tonic Nuvo Drops in Strawberry Coulis. I also added some of the puffy hearts.
There is good news - there are lots of kits left to purchase still. They are usually sold out in a day or two, but it looks like they stocked more this time to make sure they had enough. The stamp sets sold alone are running low though in case you want to grab either. I hope you enjoyed this post and it gave you some ideas for using your kit or your stamps. Thanks so much for visiting - your comments and love are ALWAYS so appreciated!!! xoxoxox Suzy
I ordered my kit on 4/14 on the first day they showed it on the blog, and I still haven't received it. They haven't even shipped it yet. It's so disappointing that it takes SSS over 10 days to fill an order. :(
