Today my "one stamp, five ways" post uses the Simon Says Stamp April card kit. But unfortunately it was sold out before I finished this post. The beautiful stamp set included in the kit IS STILL IN STOCK though - it is called Beautiful Day. There is also a butterfly stencil that is still available for individual purchase. And the two inks in the kit are also available - Squeezed Lemonade and Mermaid Lagoon. So really all you are missing is the papers if you didn't get the full kit. When I do kit posts, I use the stamp set on all of my cards since it's a "one stamp, five ways" post, so this post should still be helpful to you IF you were lucky enough to get the kit or if you want to still buy the stamp set. I actually have 7 cards to share with you today! Here is an image of the kit and the stamp set:
Here are my 7 cards using the kit, the stamp set, and the stencil:
CARD 1:
To create the background of this card, I used the butterfly stencil that is in the kit or you can purchase it alone HERE. I used the Ranger Brush that is in the kit to dab the two Distress Oxide Inks in the kit over the background (Mermaid Lagoon and Squeezed Lemonade). I did the yellow ones first and then I used the blue ink second so that I would have different shades of the blue (with the yellow mixed in). Next, I stamped some of the small solid butterfly stamps in both colors of ink over the background as well. This gave them a more saturated look then the ones rubbed on with the stencil. This explains why some of the stenciled butterflies look more green/aqua than the blue ones I stamped.
Once the background was created, I die-cut a piece of white cardstock with the Wavy Scallop Stitches die. I stamped the sentiment on it with SSS Embossing Ink and embossed with Ranger embossing ink in Garden Patina. I just bought these Wendi Vechi embossing powders and the colors of them are so perfect and the cover perfectly ( much better than the ones I have by American Crafts). I stamped the butterfly with SSS Intense Black Ink and colored him with Copic Markers, then colored pencils, then added some glitter makers, then finished with a Tonic Studios Aqua Shimmer Pen (from a recent card kit) - haha. Yes, overboard! I attached him to the top just in the center so his wings would fold up. I finished it with some PPP Mermaid Mix sequins and droplets.
CARD 2:
This card uses one of the gorgeous papers in the kit for the background die-cut with a SSS Stitched Rectangle die. I also die-cut a Window Frame for the sentiment. I stamped it with SSS Embossing Ink and embossed with xxx embossing powder.
I stamped the images on Ranger white watercolor paper and a natural color of ink. I usually use MFT Natural Ink for my no-line stamping, but SSS also has a good one called xxx that works for this. I painted the images with watercolors and then used some colored pencils to shade. I cut them out an placed them on the card only attaching the center so the wings and leaves would stand up a bit. I finished the card with Tonic Nuvo Drops in glossy white and PPP Droplets in 4mm and 6mm.
CARD 3:
I just ordered some of the new SSS die-cuts from their Friends release so I wanted to try them out. They work perfectly with this stamp set. For this card, I used the Cosmo Flower Frame die die-cut from a white cardstock base. I rubbed the Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide Ink over it using a Ranger Blending tool and just blending it out on part of the card base. I placed it over a piece of yellow paper from the kit, but a yellow cardstock card base would work fine as well. I stamped the sentiment on the bottom left side of the card using SSS Coral Reef Ink.
I stamped the images on white cardstock and then colored them in with Copics and watercolors and colored pencils. I outlined the butterfly with a fine tip black marker so it stood out more. I finished the card with Strawberry Coulis Tonic Nuvo Drops. I used them on the center of the flower as well.
CARD 4:
This card is SO colorful! I die-cut two of the papers in the kit. I used the SSS Stitched rectangle dies. I layered them on a white card base. I stamped the images with a natural color of ink and colored them in with Copic Markers. I added shading with Colored Pencils. I stamped the sentiment with SSS embossing ink and then embossed with Ranger White Embossing Powder.
I used Tonic Nuvo Drops in glossy white around the images. Forgive my obviously photoshopped photos here - I stuck my finger in one of the drops before it dried when I was photographing, so I cloned another one over it to fix. Yeah, kind of looks sucky, but oh well! haha
CARD 5:
This card uses another one of the pretty dies from the Friends Release called Modern Flowers. I die-cut that from the center of a white card base. I decided to leave it white on white for a more subtle look. I stamped the sentiment and then butterly loopy thing with Sunflower Ranger Embossing Powder.
I used a watercolored image of the butterfly outlined in black fine tip marker and glued him in the center so his wings are up. I then used some xxx Jewel tonic Nuvo Drops around the butterfly and ON his wings for texture. I also used some PPP Sparkling Clear Sequin Mix on the front of the card.
CARD 6:
This card is my favorite and it does not use any paper from the kit! I watercolored this background with a rainbow of watercolors. I used the Everglade Collage die die-cut from a stitched rectangle out of white cardstock over the watercolored piece.
I used two butterflies stamped with natural ink and then watercolored and shaded with colored pencils. I outlined them with a fine tip black marker. I stamped the sentiment with SSS Lavender Ink and Deep Purple INk. By using my Misti I was able to stamp it in the lighter color first and then dab just some of the darker color over part of the stamp and stamp it again. I added some PPP Springtime Mix sequins.
CARD 7:
And of course I had to do a shaker card! I started with a stitched rectangle out of a red striped paper from the kit (If you don't have the papers, just watercolor a piece red and then add darker stripes once it is dry - I'm going to have to try this idea!). I die-cut a stitched oval from the center. I die-cut another one from white cardstock. I stamped the sentiment on it with SSS embossing ink and then embossed with Red Geranium embossing powder. I placed that on the card base and then used the SSS Sunshine Mix sequin mix on the inside of the shaker window.
I stamped the butterflies with natural ink and colored them in with Copic Markers. I then attached them around the oval. I added some Tonic Nuvo Drops to their wings in Strawberry Coulis and Marmalade. I added some Glossy Red drops around the red paper and some PPP Buttercream Jewels as well.
I hope you love this stamp set and kit as much as I do - I couldn't stop creating with it! The colors are just so gorgeous and I absolutely adore butterflies! Have a great weekend and I hope to be back very soon! Thanks for visiting my blog today! Suzy

Suzy, I'm stunned by the number of cards you created to inspire us, and how stunning and diverse they all are. Thanks for using the Cosmo cut out (can't remember the name of the die) because I have been having a little trouble using it as it is fairly small. Thanks so much for sharing with us - you are super talented.
