Today I have two cards to share with you using the Pretty Pink Posh Hummingbird Thanks and Pretty Petunias stamp and die sets. I started by stamping all of the images from these two sets on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink so I could color them with no lines. Then I colored them all in with Copic Markers. Then I went back and shaded them all with Prismacolored Pencils. I ended up with some very BRIGHT colored images as you will see. I had enough to make two cards, so both cards match in their bright colored shades! So here we go! (put on the sunglasses!!!).
I think I even over lightened this photo so it wouldn't completely blind you haha. For this card, I used the PPP Stitched Notes die for the background. I rubbed two colors of Distress Ink on the frame portion with Ranger Blending Tools - Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron. I then attached the frame and the inside piece on a green cardstock card base. I stamped the sentiment with SSS Embossing ink and embossed with Ranger Leaf Green embossing powder (my first time to use this color and finally a green that matches all my leaves!).
I stamped all three birds and all of the flowers on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink and I started by coloring them all in with Copic Markers. I used three colors of pink and three colors of green, but I never feel like I get enough shading with Copics when I don't have lines on my images. So that is where the colored pencils come in! As I mentioned on an earlier post, I received the full set of Prismacolored Pencils for Christmas this year. I've been figuring out how to use them and incorporating them into both Copic coloring and watercoloring. I LOVE THEM. I know I have been touting the glorious glitter pens I use to shade, but they have been put on a back burner as I discover how awesome colored pencils are! I outlined each flower and leaf with the darkest pencil and then blended the shading with two colors on each area. I like that you can see the pencil marks as it gives the flowers more dimension and makes the petals look more real. If you are new to colored pencils, there are many sets - you don't have to start with the big one! Here are all the sets at Simon. Last I added some Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins.
Card 2:
This card uses the PPP Window Frames die - my favorite die set for making shaker cards. I started with a large stitched rectangle from white cardstock and then die-cut the window frame from the top center. I stamped the sentiment on the inside piece with SSS Embossing Powder and Ranger Forget-Me-Not embossing powder. I attached the inside piece to a white cardstock base and then put a transparency and foam tape behind the outside piece. I used PPP 3mm Sparkling Clear Sequins and PPP Sparkling Clear Sequin Mix on the inside.
I stamped all of the images on white cardstock again with MFT Natural Ink and colored them in with Copic Markers. I did all my shading with colored pencils. I attached three of the flowers and the leaves on the bottom of the card.
I attached a hummingbird on the top of the card. I finished the card with Tonic Glossy White Nuvo Drops. I love the look of white drops on a white background. You can really see how the colored pencils add depth and texture to the flowers in this picture.
I hope you enjoyed my very bright cards today on this beautiful Sunday. Have a great week friends and thanks so much for the love you leave on my posts - means so much to me! Suzy
