Hello card making friends! Today is the second day of the Simon Says Stamp FRIENDS new product release blog hop. This release went live a little before the holidays, but the blog hop waited until things were a bit calmer! I have two products in this release including a stamp set called Love and Friendship and a watercolor card set called Winter Warmth. The entire release can be found HERE. Here is my stamp set:
The little girls are suppose to be friends and they can either hold hands or they can hold one of the items in the stamp set. Some of the small sentiments fit inside the balloon. I added the sentiment "you are my person" because that is a phrase that is always used on Grey's Anatomy! I love that Meredith calls (called) Christina her person. I've made three cards with this set today to share with you.
Card 1:
For this card, I started with a card size piece of Ranger Watercolor Paper. I stamped all of the hearts and the flower from the set with SSS Embossing Ink and then embossed with Ranger White Embossing Powder. I painted all of the hearts with red watercolors and then did a wash of pink watercolors over the background.
Next, I stamped the girls and hearts on white cardstock with natural ink and painted them all in with Copic markers. I added details and shading with glitter markers. I then outlined them with a fine tip black marker. I cut around them all (sorry, no dies for this one, but they were easy to cut out). I embossed the sentiment on the balloon with white embossing powder. I also embossed the word "friends" from the set on a stitched rectangle from PPP Storybook 6 using Ranger Pink Peony Embossing Powder. I placed all of the items over the background and finished with some PPP Sparkling Clear Sequins.
Card 2:
If you saw my last blog post for the PPP 4th birthday celebration blog hop, I made a card similar to this one. So I guess I copied myself or was "inspired" by myself! I started by painted teal stripes on a white watercolor paper base. I then die cut a SSS Stitched Rectangle out of a card size piece of white cardstock for the frame. I use foam tape behind the frame to create a shaker window. I stamped the word friends on s rectangle from PPP Storybook 6 dies. I used Ranger Red Geranium Embossing Powder. I also stamped the "sending love and hugs" sentiment over one of the stripes and embossed with Ranger white embossing powder.
I filled the shaker window with PPP Sparkling Clear Confetti Sequins and some of the 3mm Sparkling Clear Sequins. I added some lines on the white frame with Copic Markers and a red glitter pen. I stamped the images on white cardstock with natural ink and colored them in with Copic Markers. I used a white uniball to add dots on the dress. I attached all of the elements over the transparency and also added some Tonic Studio Gloss White dots onto of the transparency.
Card 3:
I started with a white card base and then I die-cut a SSS Stitched rectangle from white cardstock. I used the SSS Circle Doodle cling stamp with purple ink over the white rectangle. Then I rubbed Distress Ink over it with a Ranger Blending Tool Next, I die-cut one size smaller of the stitched rectangles for the front of the card.
I stamped the images on white cardstock with natural ink and colored them in with Copic markers. I outlined them with glitter pens. I stamped the sentiment with black ink on the balloon. I put foam tape behind this rectangle and layered them all over each other for the front of the card. I added a ground with some Cool Gray Copic Marker.s I also added some Tonic Nuvo Drops in White Gloss and Pale Periwinkle around the images.
My next product is a new watercolor card set called Winter Warmth. Here is an image:
I'm happy to announce that I will be continuing to illustrate monthly sets of watercolor cards for all of 2018! You can find all of my watercolor card sets HERE. This one was drawn while I was on our Thanksgiving holiday which we spent in Whistler, Canada. I was holed up in a cozy cottage while it snowed outside, so I was in the perfect mood to draw winter warmth images (especially that fire place!). I have painted each of the images to show you how they will look all dressed up. I'll add some tips at the end of this post. So here you go...

Coloring Tips and Techniques for Watercolorcards (all printed on Ranger Watercolor Paper):
- I add shadows behind many of the letters and other elements with a Gray Copic Marker (usually N2) which really helps them pop
- I used a Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen over many of the backgrounds - primarily the snow - I just purchased these and I LOVE them - they are SO sparkly (thanks to Barb Engler for the recommendation)
- On all the snowballs I used white glossy Tonic Nuvo Drops to make them dimensional
- I watercolored all of them with Daniel Smith watercolors and then added details and shading with Kaiser Craft gel pens
- I use Tonic Nuvo Drops on many of the elements to give them dimension and a glitter effect - especially that fire!
- On all of the trees, I first painted them and then added Tonic Nuvo Drops in Gloss White for snow and in Bottle Green for tree branches
- I used a white uniball over most of the snowflakes
NEXT ON THE HOP TODAY IS VICKY PAPAIOANNOU

Thanks so much for all the LOVE you are going to leave me today - haha. I would love to hear which card you like the best. Thanks for all of your support during 2017 - I'm super excited to continue to get a chance to develop products for SSS to share with you and to (((try))) to inspire you by showing you all of the designs in use. Those little girls remind me of my daughter and her best friend when they were younger, your cards really do the set justice and I adore you got a shaker out of them. The rest of your work reflects that you must have really enjoyed yourself as the colouring is fantastic.
