I think this Reindeer Friends stamp set by Pretty Pink Posh might be my favorite Christmas stamp set out this year. It is seriously cute and I had some serious fun working with it as for my "one stamp, five ways" blog post! Here is an image of the stamp set:
See, cute right?!?!?! I definitely gravitate towards cute images over classic images, so I'm all about the whimsical designs Paulina creates for Pretty Pink Posh! So as the blog post states, I have FIVE cards to show you today (every now and then I get creative crazy and make more, but not this time as I'm about to go on vacation for TG!). I am happy to report though that I did NOT do a random stamped card! I even stamped one out to paint and then though, I really need to think of something else to do. So I did! But I miss my random stamped card so I don't think I'll be going away from that technique. I also tried some new things on these cards that I can't wait to share with you! So with that, here we go:
Card 1:
This ended up being my favorite of the five cards - I always love when you tell me which one you like the best! Good to hear different opinions. I used the Stacked Edges die to make a "snow bank". I just die-cut a stitched rectangle full card size out of Neenah White Cardstock and then used one of the dies that slopes in the center. I then rubbed Distress Inks on the top and bottom of the card in the following colors using a Ranger Blending Tool: Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, and Hickory Smoke. I attached these three pieces to a white card base.
Next, I created my own paper to use for the die cut title (and the JOY die on another card). I took a piece of card size (5.5" x 4.25") white cardstock and I rubbed Distress Oxide Inks on it using the following colors: Fired Brick, Abandoned Coral, and Candied Apple. I loved the look of dies cut out of paper created with Distress Oxide Inks - it is so soft and pretty! I die-cut the Merry Christmas die out of this paper. After I glued it on using the Tonic Glue that has the finest tip ever and never clogs, I used a red glitter pen to outline the letters so they glisten and sparkle!
Next, I sat,led all of the images on white cardstock and colored them in with Copic Markers. I added details and shading with glitter pens. I stamped the "wishing you a" from the Holiday Greetings stamp set on the snow bank with black ink. I added some snowflake sequins (a must have sequin - seriously) and some white Tonic Nuvo drops to finish it. Dudettes, (or dudes!), I seriously love this card and I can't say that often so please don't think I am a bragger. But I just really like how it turned out - go meeeeee hahahah!
You can't do a Pretty Pink Posh post without making a shaker card so I made two! For this one I started with a full size stitched rectangle and then used the large Window Frames die in the center of it. For the piece behind it, I rubbed Distress Oxide Inks on a piece of one cardstock in the following colors (see, I'm trying something new here instead of just using watercolor behind things): Salty Ocean, Faded Jeans, and Black Soot. I applied some water droplets to it and dabbed some of the color off as it bleaches it. These inks are so cool - I should use them more often. I realized though, that if you apply them to cardstock, they blend the best, but if you drop water on the paper, it doesn't work as well. If you use watercolor paper, the water splotches look better. I put this piece behind the card base, stamped the sentiment with white embossing powder, and used the Starry Night Sequin Mix inside the opening.
Here is an image with the sequins all over the place covering up the sentiment! I also added some of my snowflake sequins in there (of course!). They go on every winter card I make (of course!).
I stamped all of the cute images from the Reindeer Friends stamp set on white cardstock with a light color ink and then colored them in with Copics for a no-line coloring look. The two little CUTE people are from the Christmas Friends stamp set from last year. I love mixing my older and newer sets together and that was one of my favorite sets ever. I outlined them all and added shading/details with glitter pens and a white Uniball marker. I used Red Tonic Nuvo Drops on the reindeer noses. I finished with some white Tonic Nuvo drops around the card base.
For this card, I used the new JOY die-cut. I used the red paper I created with Distress Oxide Inks for the die. I used watercolor on the outside piece - it was a full size rectangle die-cut out of Ranger watercolor paper. I used a wet on wet technique with lots of red paint along the inside edges of the circle and then less color as I moved out. Then I splattered more watered down red paint over it. It ended up matching the Distress Ink die-cut piece perfectly! I attached them both to a white card base.
F
Please don't look at that little F as I have no idea how it got there or how to get rid of it without work! Next, I took a piece of watercolor paper card size and painted the entire thing with green Daniel Smith watercolors in several colors. I used this piece instead of cardstock to die-cut the leaves from the Festive Holly die set. The red berries are die-cut from leftover red paper that I made with Distress Oxide Inks. I stamped the "to the world" with white embossing powder on the front of the card (from the Holiday Greetings stamp set). I added two deer from the Reindeer Friends stamp set stamped on white cardstock and colored in with Copic markers. I finished it with Sparkling Clear sequins and white Tonic Nuvo Drops.
This is my second shaker card, but only has a little bit of shaker in it! I love this die as you can just make one of the openings a shaker area. I die-cut the Stitched Pieces die for the front of the card die-cut from white cardstock. For the piece behind it, I used a card size piece of watercolor paper and I rubbed Distress Oxide Inks on it in the following colors: Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover, and Peeled Paint. I attached that piece to a green cardstock base. I stamped the sentiment in the center opening with white embossing powder. I then made the top portion a shaker and used the Gold Shimmer Beads in it.
I stamped all of the images on white cardstock and colored them in with Copic markers and outlined them with glitter pens. I attached them on the top and bottom of the card. I used the snowflake sequins and some white Tonic Nuvo drops around the images.
This card replaced my random stamping card this time! I wanted to try something new. I started with a piece of watercolor paper and I stamped the same reindeer four times across the top with white embossing powder. I then used the sentiment and some of the smaller images from the Holiday Greetings stamp set. I embossed them all with white embossing powder as well. I then used my watercolors to paint in the background with a dark blue and then the reindeers and leaves.
I added reindeer reins (haha) with white Tonic Nuvo Drops and some spots around the images as well. I used Red Tonic Nuvo Drops inside the berries. I added some snowflake sequins with white Tonic Nuvo drops in the center of each snowflake. I finished it with some red/white twine on the top.
