Hello all! As summer is coming to an end, I'm feeling all kinds of sad emotions because I love my kids being home. And this year I'll have a Senior and a Sophomore so one more year and off to college for one. I wish I could freeze time. Although I would have done it years ago when they were younger, not teenagers - haha. Hope you are all having a good end of summer!
Today I want to share with you two cards I made using some of the newest Pretty Pink Posh stamp and die sets and my favorite random stamping technique.
For this first card, I used the Sea Friends stamp set. There is a set of Sea Friends dies as well, but the great thing about random stamping backgrounds is you don't need the dies to do it! The say I do this technique varies, but the bottom line is you are just stamping images from the stamp set randomly over the background. Sometimes I do it where they are all turned different directions - upside down even. Other times I do it where they are all facing the right way. This card is primarily done that way. When you are stamping this way, I almost always use a Misti tool as I can line up several stamps at one time like a puzzle and it makes it way easier. It's one of the best investments I've ever made! I use Ranger white watercolor paper which I first die cut into a rectangle - I used MFT Blueprints 1 for this one which is one size smaller than the card base and has a beveled edge. After all the images were colored in, I added blue paint to the background and used some of the bubbles in the set to fill in open spaces.
Sometimes I stamp the images in black ink, but I usually prefer a no-line approach, so I stamp them with a natural light color ink. My preference is MFT Natural Ink, but any light shade works just fine! You can also stamp each image in the color you want it to be using different color of inks which I sometimes do. Once I paint the images in with watercolor, I often outline them with my Kaiser Craft glitter pens or any gel pens. I find the outlines make them pop more. So if I had stamped them with different colored inks, I would get a similar look as I have here! My only complaint about these glitter pens is they don't come in more colors as I use them on every card I make! I have two sets just in case they run out of ink! After all of my images were painted, I outlined them and added some shading and eyes and mouths with the glitter pens. Next, I die cut a PPP Stitched Label Die out of black cardstock and used Ranger white embossing powder to emboss the sentiment. I dded some Pretty Pink Posh Sparking Clear Sequin mix to the card as well as some black Nuvo Drops to finish it.
This card is made in a very similar way. I also kept all of the images facing forward at a natural angle. I used the same watercolor paper, but I used the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle set to die-cut the paper. I watercolored in the images and then outlined them again with my glitter pens. I added lots of details to their clothes with the glitter pens and a white uniball. I love my white uniball pen - I don't know how I would live without it! The silver on the glasses is one of the glitter pens. It really adds some nice touches to the images. I painted the background with a light blush color.
Next, I die-cut a stitched rectangle using the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Pieces die. I stamped the sentiment with Versamark Ink and then embossed it with American Crafts Rose embossing powder. I added some pink sequins around the sentiment using the new Tutti Fruiti sequin mixes in 4mm and 6mm.
I hope you enjoyed these two cards. My favorite part of this technique is the painting. It is so fun to paint all these darling little images and add all the details to their clothing! I am so in love with all the little people PPP comes out with for stamps. I can't wait to see the next fall and holiday releases! Thanks so much for visiting me today and have a great end of summer friends! suzy
