Hello friends! It's been a while since I've done a "one stamp, five ways" post. Today I have one to share with you using the Simon Says Stamp So Deer stamp set that was released as part of their Mothers, Fathers, Florals release a couple months ago. Although some of the sentiments have to do with mother's, the set works for every day cards with most of it's sentiments. Here is an image of the stamp set:
I have five cards to share with you using this set. I have to say - it's one of my favorite stamp sets SSS has ever come out with. I'm a succor for whimsical woodland creatures, flowers, nature, and spring type images. I was just in Carmel, CA on vacation and we were driving down 17 mile drive. I told my girls I would pay them $10 for every deer they could find. THAT IS HOW MUCH I LOVE DEER. Yep, I'd go broke to see a few! They each found 5 so we headed to Lush in downtown Carmel to shop with it. They each only spent $10, so I spent the other $80! I'm such a nice mother haha ...This week they BOTH got their wisdom teeth out on the same day though, so I have earned that $80 because this is a HARD job taking care of two of them at one time! Ok, back to my cards - let's get started!
First I'll share my random stamped card which uses the Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle (full card size) and watercolor paper. I can't stop doing these because I love lining up the images like a puzzle and painting them all. And I have decided I really prefer no-lines for this type of card. I started with my favorite light colored ink - MFT Natural Ink - and stamped all the images. I then painted them with Daniel Smith watercolors and used glitter pens to add shading and details. I also added a soft wash to the background (water first, then dropped in multiple colors of paint).
I stamped the sentiment on a rounded rectangle from the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Pieces die. I stamped the first line using Lawn Fawn Doe ink (appropriate, huh?) and the second line using Lawn Fawn Walnut ink. I liked the two colors so it looks like the second line is bolded and more important. I tied some twine around the left side. I added some Pretty Pink Posh Marigold sequins and some spots with Tonic Nuvo Drops in Carnation Pink.
This card started with two stitched rectangles cut from watercolor paper. The larger uses the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle set and the smaller uses the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Notes die set. I watercolored the larger one with a wash of Daniel Smith Opera Pink. I wet the paper, then add lots of paint. I then flick water droplets on it (see bottom center) to make the paint splotchy. I do a lot of backgrounds this way. For the second rectangle, I painted some green on the bottom center and light blue on the top center creating a soft background for my deer. I then stamped all of the images including the grass pieces with MFT Natural Ink - they overlapped in places. I could have used black ink and masked spots where they overlapped, but I decided this way was easier! I then painted all of the images in with watercolors and added details with glitter pens. I drew outlines around the images with a fine tip black marker. The original light lines of the stamped images didn't show where they overlapped once they were painted. I flicked some of the Opera Pink paint on this piece once it was finished.
I stamped the sentiment with Lawn Fawn Plastic Flamingo ink. I used some PPP pink sequins from the Friendship Mix. I used some Key Lime Tonic Nuvo Drops as well.
I had this Frond Collage circle die from the last Simon Says Stamp release I had been dying to use and it is a perfect mix with this stamp set. I die cut it from the top center of a green card base. I then stamped the deer and flowers with MFT Natural Ink on Neenah White Cardstock and colored them in with Copic Markers. I attached a piece of cream cardstock behind the green opening and then tucked the stamped items behind it. I had to fussy cut them out as there isn't a die set for these stamps, but luckily I love to cut!
I stamped the sentiment on a stitched banner from the MFT Blueprints 1 die set. I used my Mini Misti to stamp the title as I first stamped it with Lawn Fawn Doe ink and then inked just the bottom of the letters with Lawn Fawn Walnut ink. This gave it a two toned look. I added some Pretty Pink Posh Orchid sequins and some Tonic Nuvo Drops in Key Lime and Rose Water around the leaves.
This card is super busy! I first die-cut two rectangle from watercolor paper using MFT Blueprints 2 dies. I painted one with blue watercolor and one with light red watercolor. I splattered both with the same color paint to add texture. I then used the Simon Says Stamp Scalloped Stitches die along one edge of the red piece. I layered that one over the blue one to create the background for the card and attached both to a white card base. I stamped the sentiment on the top of the blue piece with Lawn Fawn Fish Tank ink. I stamped all of the images on watercolor paper with Simon Says Stamp Intense black ink (my favorite black ink as it works with both Copic markers and watercolors without smearing unlike any other black ink I've seen). I watercolored in the images and added shading and details with glitter pens.
I arranged all of the images onto the background of the paper (after fussy cutting them out). Last I added some Pretty Pink Posh Aquamarine sequins around the top of the images.
I wanted to try and make a card without using the Deer images. I started with a piece of watercolor paper that is die cut with the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle die. I then stamped the flowers and leaves all over the background with Versamark Ink and embossed them with Ranger White Embossing Powder. I then watercolored over the background with a wash of blue on the top and green on the bottom. I wet the paper liberally first and then applied the paint to the top and the bottom letting them mix in the middle. I love watching the embossed images appear as you add the paint!
I stamped all of the images on watercolor paper with Intense Black Ink and then painted them with Daniel Smith watercolors. I die cut a stitched rectangle using the SSS Stitched Rectangle dies. I stamped the sentiment with Lawn Fawn Fish Tank ink. I stamped all of the images with black ink on watercolor paper and painted them in. I cut them out and arranged them around the sentiment rectangle. I used three colors of Tonic Nuvo Drops around the sentiment and flowers including Key Lime, Blue Lagoon, and Carnation Pink. Last, I added some PPP Aquamarine sequins.
And there you have it - my usual wordy "one stamp, five ways" post! I hope you are all having a great summer. I am over here playing nurse for the second day realizing why I decided not to get into the medical field (I'm not cut out for it!). Thanks for visiting! suzy
Oh my goodness, Suzy! What a fabulous collection of cards. How fun that your daughters found so many deer on your drive! And how fun that you helped them spend their jackpot. Your cards are fantastic. True confession, I thought you colored with pencils! That is watercolor? How amazing is that! The time and effort you put into creating these is tremendous! Each one is a work of art in my mind. Thank you SO much for sharing your talent and passion with us! So wish I could get your blog to show up in my feed again. I'd be much more consistent at commenting. Keep up the awesome work. Big hugs!! :)
