Simon Says Stamp has just released their newest card kit for July called Hello Summer. It is full of summer goodness with lots of bikini's to taunt you! I decided to do a "one stamp, five ways" post with the adorable stamp set that comes with the kit. Here is an image of the full kit:
You can purchase the Bikini Die or the Sea You Soon stamp set by themselves as well. Here are my five cards:
Card 1:
The kit comes with foam tape and sequins, so making a shaker card seemed like an obvious! I die-cut a piece of the patterned paper (my favorite piece!) with a stitched rectangle using MFT Blueprints 13. I embossed two clouds and three birds on the top of the piece. I then die-cut a smaller stitched rectangle from the lower edge using the SSS Stitched Rectangles. I stamped the sentiment on this piece with Versamark Ink and embossed with Ranger white embossing powder. I cut out two small popsicles from one of the papers and attached them to the left of the sentiment.
Next, I used the transparency that also came with the kit behind the window. I then attached the inside piece to a turquoise cardstock base and placed some of the Pretty Pink Posh sequins on top of it. I used the foam tape behind the larger piece and attached that onto the card base over the window. I tied some Lawn Fawn Pink Lemonade Twine to the left side of the card (it didn't come with the kit).
Card 2:
The kit comes with a bikini die, so I had to use it and decorate them! I started this card by stamping the wave border stamp on white cardstock with Versamark Ink and embossing it with white embossing powder. I stamped the sentiment and embossed it with Cricket embossing powder.
I then die-cut three of the bathing suits and rubbed Distress Ink on them with a Ranger Blending Tool I used the following colors: Abandoned Coral, Mermaid Lagoon, Tumbled Glass, Squeezed Lemonade, and Mustard Seed. I used my glitter pens and a white Uniball marker to decorate them. I added some of the sequins in the kit as belly buttons!
Card 3:
This card went through quite a few changes as I couldn't get it right! I started by die-cutting a stitched rectangle out of Ranger watercolor paper. I then stamped the clouds with Versamark Ink and embossed them with Ranger white embossing powder. I then painted the piece with blue watercolor. It looked really good just like this, but I couldn't figure out how to make it into a card with the rest of the kit contents. So next I stamped the clouds on scratch paper and cut them out. Then I traced them on a piece of the patterned paper several times and cut them out. I used them on each of the clouds that I had embossed. Not sure if I improved the look, but at least I used a paper in the kit and make the card a little more interesting!
Once all the clouds were on the card, I attached it to a white card base. I die-cut a stitched rectangle from white cardstock (using Pretty Pink Posh Storybook 1 die) and embossed the sentiment on it using xxx embossing powder. I stamped three of the birds with gray ink on white cardstock and cut them out. I attached them around the sentiment and added some sequins from the kit. I also used some of my Lawn Fawn Pink Lemonade Twine tied to the top.
Card 4:
I used a random stamping technique for this card. I had to cut a portion of the wave border stamp off to use for this. I stamped all of the images on Ranger watercolor paper (die cut into a rectangle using MFT Blueprints 1) with Versamark Ink and then embossed them with white embossing powder. I admit this took A LOT OF TIME! Then I watercolored the images and the background blue. I added some details with my Glitter Pens and a white Uniball marker. I attached it to a white card base.
I stamped the sentiment on a small stitched rectangle with Versarmark Ink and then used three colors of embossing powder on it. I poured the red on the bottom of the sentiment first and then went to the lighter colors on top. I am going to have to use this technique again as I love how it turned out. I attached that piece to the top of the card. I added some of the sequins around the card.
Card 5:
More bikini's! This time I used the bikini stamps (two different ones) with lots of Lawn Fawn inks (colors listed in supplies below) and stamped them randomly over this piece. I used Neenah White cardstock and then die-cut it with a rectangle from MFT Blueprints 1. I attached it to a card base. I colored in all of the bikini's with Copic markers. I then outlined them and added details with my Glitter Pens.
Next. I die-cut a stitched banner from the yellow cardstock in the kit (same as I used for the card base). I stamped the sentiment on it with white embossing powder and attached it to the front of the card. I used some of the sequins around it. I also used several of my Tonic Nuvo Drops around the card front just to give it some dimension and more interest (yep, some are belly buttons again!).
I could have made so many more cards with this kit - I loved all of the papers in it, but I tried to focus on ways to use the stamp set. I hope you enjoyed this post - have a great week and thank you for visiting! Suzy
