Hey, remember that blog post series I had called "one stamp, five ways"?!?!?! Well, I have officially resurrected it. (((life's been in the way lately))). Today's post will be using a Simon Says Stamp set that came out a few months ago I've been dying to play with. It's called Hope Blooms and here is an image of it:
It is full of beautiful floral images (my favorite!) with outside images AND inside detailed images. It also has a set of dies (white can be used by themselves as you will see in one of my cards) or you can buy them together as a set. I also love the salutations as HOPE is such an important part of life and something I have had to rely on many times in my life. I have five VERY colorful cards to share with you today. Even though I haven't posted in a while - you won't be disappointed as I still did a shaker card and a random stamped card - yay for repetition (and lack of new ideas!).
Card 1:
I started this card with a piece of watercolor paper (I used Fabriano for this one so it is more off-white than Ranger paper). I stamped all of the flowers with different pink embossing powders randomly over the paper. I used several colors including: American Crafts Grapefruit and Rose; Wow Soft Mango and Pink Lady. Next I watercolored each of the flowers with Daniel Smith watercolors. I also used a light wash on the background.
I used a FAITH die-cut from Simon Says Stamp I already had for the titles on a couple of these cards. I felt like the word faith went well with the word hope! I die-cut the word from black cardstock and light pink cardstock. I then layered them on the front of the card. I stamped "anchors the soul" from the stamp set in black ink on the T in faith. I then added some Tonic drops in black around the title. I mounted the piece on a black card base using MFT Blueprints 1 to die-cut the watercolor paper.
Card 2:
I die-cut a piece of Ranger watercolor paper with a rounded corner rectangle slightly smaller than a card base using MFT Blueprints 6. I then stamped the flower images in a half circle using Versamark Ink and Ranger White Embossing Powder. I watercolored the images with Daniel Smith watercolors. I also added a light wash around the images with green paint and then flicked on some blue spots with my paintbrush.
I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set in two colors of Lawn Fawn ink - Fish Tank and Lobster. When stamping these words, I used my Mini Misti to get them positioned just where I wanted them. Then I put a piece of scratch paper into the Misti and stamped on that first. I wanted the words to be lighter than the ink colors are so I used second generation stamping. But I stamped the words twice so they were just the right color (using the same technique) - I couldn't have done this without my beloved Misti! I added some dots with a few colors of Tonic Nuvo Drops: Sherbet Shimmer, Blue Lagoon, Key Lime, and Limoncello. I adhered this piece to a Lemon Drop card base.
Card 3:
This card is my favorite because the combination of the flowers and the colors I used remind me of Hawaii! I used a piece of Fabriano watercolor paper again for the card front because I wanted it to be a little off-white. I die-cut it with MFT Blueprints 1 so it is a rectangle with a slightly beveled edge. I then stamped the flowers using Distress Inks in the following colors: Mustard Seed, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick, Salty Ocean, Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, and Wilted Violet. I then watercolored all of the images in using the same color of ink mixed with water. I love how vibrant Distess Inks work for watercoloring! I added details and shading to the images with my Kaiser Crafts Glitter Pens and a White Uniball marker.
I die-cut a stitched rectangle from the same paper to match using the Pretty Pink Posh Storybook 1 dies. I stamped the sentiment using Lawn Fawn Plastic Flamingo ink and SSS Intense Black Ink. I added some Pretty Pink Posh Aquamarine sequins. Next, I couldn't resist adding some Tonic Studio drops in Blue Lagoon and Sherbet Shimmer as well (can't get enough of these!). I attached this to an off white card base using MFT Whip Cream cardstock.
Card 4:
I started this card with a die-cut rectangle from watercolor paper. I then used a little different technique for the flowers and leaves. I die-cut the images using the matching dies, but I didn't stamp them first. After they were all die-cut, I rubbed Distress Ink on them (same colors as listed above as well as Abandoned Coral) with a Ranger Blending Tool. I stamped details on some of them using the matching inside stamps (not the outline stamps) and the same Distress Ink colors. I die-cut a SSS Stitched Oval from the center of the white card front and I positioned all of these colored images around it to form a wreath.
I attached a piece of transparency to the underside of the oval opening and attached foam tape behind this piece. I placed a piece of white cardstock on the top of a Gumdrop Green card base. I poured Pretty Pink Posh sparkling clear sequins on the top of this piece and attached the card front to the top of it. I stamped the sentiment using SSS Thankful Heart stamps. I embossed it on a watercolored label with Wow Pink Lady embossing powder. I finished it with guess what?!?!?! I used Tonic Studio Drops in Sherbet Shimmer and Strawberry Coulis.
Card 5:
I started this card with a white card base using Neenah white cardstock. I then die-cut an oval using the SSS Stitched Oval dies from watercolor paper (just so it had some texture). I stamped all of the flowers from the set with MFT Natural Ink for a no-line stamping look (although I added outlines later with my glitter pens). I colored them in with Copic Markers and added details and shading with my glitter pens and a white uniball. I attached all of the images tucked under the stitched oval on the card front.
I die-cut the word FAITH out of Razzleberry cardstock twice. I covered one of them with Tonic Nuvo Drops in Rose Water and let it dry. I then glued it to the top of the second one. I stamped the "where there is HOPE there is faith" words with black ink using my Misti to position them in the right place on the oval. I then glued the word faith below them. I added some Pretty Pink Posh sequins in Lemon Drop, Watermelon, and Seabreeze. I also added some Tonic drops in Limoncello and Sherbet Shimmer.
Whew - all done - I hope you made it through all of this! And guess what? Great news!!! I have another "one stamp, five ways" post coming in a few days. Whoohoooo to summer time days! Thanks so much for visiting and I hope you are having a great summer too! Suzy
