This is my first "one stamp, five ways" post in SO long! I've been busy with the new Pretty Pink Posh release, so I haven't had a chance to do one of these posts lately. Today, I am using one of my favorite Simon Says Stamp stamp and die sets called More Spring Flowers - just in time while we are still enjoying spring! Here is an image of the stamp set:
You know flowers are my favorite, but the flower sets Simon has released with the doodled lines are my favorite of all their flower stamps. They have had a couple like this so far - one was a year ago called Spring Flowers which I also did a "one stamp, five ways" post for. Today I have five cards to share with you - so let's get started!
Card 1:
This was my favorite card because it is just so simple. Maybe I should do simple more often! I stamped the rose on Arches Hot Pressed watercolor paper with MFT Natural Ink. I gotta be honest - this paper is a dream come true. It's not pure white which is the downfall (none of the high end watercolor papers are). But the paints just work so well on it. I stamped the leaves and stem with the same natural colored ink as I wanted a no-line stamped image. I painted in the flower and leaves with my Daniel Smith watercolors. I added a wash of blue paint coming out around the flower. I stamped the sentiment using the SSS Handlettered Encouragement stamp set and Lawn Fawn Guava Ink. I drew the dashed lines on the flower and leaves with my Kaiser Craft Glitter pens (yep, you know I love these babies!) and even added a few more lines to the flower.
I die-cut the piece with a stitched rectangle one size smaller than a card base using MFT Blueprints 13. I then attached it to a pink card base. I flicked some of the blue paint from the background onto the card to add some interest. I still felt the card was too flat and boring, but sequins on it just didn't look right. Then I remembered I had just ordered three new colors of Tonic Nuvo Crystal drops and they were just the right colors. I used all three of them on the front of the card and it was the perfect finishing touch. Now I will have to buy ALL the colors haha. I used Sea Breeze (a very light blue shade), Rose Water ( the lighter pink), and Strawberry Coulis (the darker pink). Aren't the drops so pretty?
Card 2:
This is my random stamping card. I used Ranger Watercolor Paper (because it is pure white) and SSS Intense Black Ink (because it works with watercolors). I stamped the images randomly over the backside of the paper (less bumpy) and then die-cut the piece with a full card size stitched rectangle. I painted all the images in with my watercolors. I love puzzles so doing random stamping is really fun, but I wouldn't want to do it without using a Misti stamping tool - it lets you align the images on the card before stamping them.
For the sentiment I used a stitched oval out of black card stock. I stamped a sentiment from another Simon Says Stamp set called Friendship Blooms that came out last spring. I used Versamark Ink and embossed it with Ranger white embossing powder. I attached that to the front and finished it with some 4mm and 6mm Marshmallow sequins by Pretty Pink Posh.
Card 3:
Although that big rose is the star of the show in this stamp set, I like to show different ways to use a stamp in these posts. So this card is my attempt at NOT using the gorgeous rose. I focused on the little daisies for this card. I started with a full size stitched rectangle cut from Ranger Watercolor paper. I painted that with a light wash of blue watercolors and attached it to a card base. I stamped all of the flowers and leaves with colored inks the same color as I planned on coloring them in for a no-line stamping look on Neenah white cardstock. I colored them all in with Copic markers. I outlined the dotted lines on them with my Kaiser Craft glitter pens. I arranged them over the front of the card as if they were a bouquet coming out of the sentiment.
The sentiment is from a Simon Says Stamp set called Thankful Heart. I stamped it with Versamark Ink and embossed it with blue embossing powder. I cut around the words and attached it to the bottom of the card. I finished the card with some Pretty Pink Posh Marigold and Spring Meadow sequins.
Card 4:
This is my second favorite card as I just love watercoloring floral images. I started this card with a stitched rectangle full card size using Fabriano watercolor paper (another one of my favorites, but again it is not white so I planned on painted the background). I stamped all of the flowers and leaves with Versamark Ink and embossed them with white embossing powder. This way even though the paper isn't white, the images are! I painted them in with my Daniel Smith watercolors. It took time and two coats to get all the shading right. I used a wet on wet technique for the background letting the greens and pinks flow into each other for a soft wash.
I stamped the sentiment on a stitched rectangle from the same paper so it matched perfectly. I used the SSS Handlettered Encouragement stamp set and Lawn Fawn Freshly Cut Grass ink. I attached this to the top right of the card and finished it with some Pretty Pink Posh pink sequins.
Card 5:
I love the bright colored images on pure Neenah white cardstock on this card. I decided to try a card without using a stitched rectangle for once and I really like the look of it! I just cut a piece of white cardstock to be one size smaller than a card base and then I used foam tape behind it to lift it (I've seen others do this so I lifted this idea). It created a simple background for my flowers.
Next, I stamped all of the images on white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink (I can't seem to stop using no-line coloring on my cards lately). I colored them all in with Copic markers. I added the lines again with the glitter pens.
I arranged them over the front of the card and let one flower hang over the edge (very risky flower there). I stamped the sentiment with Lawn Fawn black ink as it is the blackest black ink I have found and has perfect coverage. The sentiment is from the SSS Oh Happy Day stamp set. And by the way, I actually stamped this before I attached it with foam tape to the card base! Last, I added some of my favorite all time PPP sequins as I love that they don't have holes and are a little less sequiny for a change! They are called the Sparkling Clear Confetti Mix sequins.
