Today Simon Says Stamp released their monthly card kit for April called Wild and Colorful.
My favorite items in the kit are that adorable Wild Cuddly Critters Stamp Set and the new Fresh Fruit Cube Ink Set. I really want to use this stamp set for a "one stamp, five ways" post, but as you can probably tell from my blog posts lately - I've been a little busy! And I'm designing a new set of watercolor cards for Mother's Day, so my desires to stamp FIVE WAYS per set have been overcome with deadlines! But I promise my feature WILL be back soon!
This kit includes 5 white and 5 kraft tags, so I decided to use the tags for my post today. The little WILD animals fit on them perfectly. I made four kraft tags - here is an image of all of them together:
I thought they would be fun to hand on gift bags, so I gave them very bushy tails (twine). The first thing I did is rub some of the red and orange ink on the center of the tags (so it would be positioned behind the animals). I used a Ranger Blending Tool.
Next, I cut a small rectangle of the patterned papers to use behind the animals. I picked ones that I thought would match the theme of each card. Even though this kit looks very purple in the pictures, it has a lot of non-purple options too that are more like zoo animal colors! I attached these strips to the bottom center of each tag.
I stamped each of the animals on Ranger Watercolor Paper using MFT Natural Ink and painted them in with Daniel Smith watercolors. I added details and shading to them with my Kaiser Craft Glitter Pens. I did the same with the small and large heart outline stamps and cut all of the images out.I added some outlines with a fine tip black marker to certain areas of the animals (such as the eyes so they stood out more). Next I attached all of the images to each tag over the patterned paper.
I stamped a row of the outline heart stamps on the bottom of each tag using the same black ink and colored them in with the same Glitter Pens. I stamped the sentiment on the top of the tags and colored them in with glitter pens as well.
The last thing I did is tie twine in the top of each tag - lots of twine! I've had most of these in my twine collection for some time, but here are some colors that would look great with these tags by Lawn Fawn: Black Tie, Pink Lemonade (which is actually the one I used on the Penguin tag!), Tangerine (looks like the one I used on the Lion tag), and Candy Corn (this one I must get!).
I hope you enjoyed my wild animal creations today! I laughed when I saw this stamp set as my son's name is Thane so I always used to call him Wild Thane as he grew up. This stamp will be perfect for him! Have a great week friends no matter where you live or what you are doing - just find some time to color and craft! Thanks for visiting, Suzy
Cutest tags!!!! I especially like the look of the extra twine on the tag. Once again, awesome job! Thanks for sharing your awesome talent!!
