This is NOT a Christmas post although the title might have made you think it was! During the holiday season, Pretty Pink Posh released a stamp and die set called Christmas Friends. I fell in love with it. But apparently so did every one else as it was immediately out of stock everywhere! I was very disappointed as once it did come back into stock, the holidays were too close to utilize it. BUT, I decided to buy it recently because I realized it was too cute to resist AND it could be used for winter cards as well!
All that leads to today's post where I will show you two shaker cards using the Pretty Pink Posh Christmas Friends Stamp Set and Die Set that are not holiday themed. Here is an image of the stamp set:
Super cute set, right? Throughout the post, I have linked all PPP products to the PPP shop - but at the end of the post, I have a product list with links to both Simon Says Stamp and Pretty Pink Posh. So now I have two cards to show you how I used it for non-holiday themed cards. I did use sentiments from two other Pretty Pink Posh stamp sets though.
Card 1:
I figured with the cute birds in the set and little berry springs, they would work well for a non holiday card idea. I used the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Pieces die set (I so adore this as it has these cute little windows in it with stitching on both sides and can be used horizontally or vertically). I die-cut a piece of watercolor paper into a stitched rectangle full card size and then I die-cut the Stitched Pieces die from the center of it. I then watercolored around the top of the windows with blue and around the bottom of the windows with green.
Next, I stamped all of the little images with MFT Natural Ink for a no-line coloring look. I watercolored them all and then added outlines and details with my Kaiser Craft Glitter Pens. I attached all the images onto the front of the card. I attached a piece of transparency to the back of this piece. I then used the actual die on the card itself and I drew pencil lines inside the three windows so I knew where to place the salutations. They are both from the Fox Friends stamp set. I stamped them with Lawn Fawn Licorice Ink on the actual card base lined up to be in the outside two windows. I then erased the pencil marks.
Pretty Pink Posh is coming out with some new seed beed colors with their March 1st release, so since I had them, I was able to use them in this card as a sneak peek! But they won't actually go up for sale until the 1st. I used green in one window, yellow in the center window, and blue in the right window. I then attached the card front over the beads (after I attached foam tape to the back) on the card base. Whew, I hope all that made sense!
Card 2:
I felt very clever with this card! The two little people are all dressed up in winter attire and the stamp set comes with the two little coffee mugs. But the thing in the middle of the top of my card is suppose to be a wreath. I made it a donut to go with the two coffee cups. And I used the bow from the wreath as just a bow on the top. For the card, I used the Storybook 5 die by Pretty Pink Posh. I die-cut a stitched rectangle full card size and then die-cut the Storybook 5 die out of the center. I watercolored this piece with a rainbow of colors moving up the card. I used a wet on wet technique so all the colors would run into each other. (I actually painted it before I cut the window out).
I covered the back of the window with a transparency and attached foam adhesive to the outside edges of the piece as well as behind that little tiny strip between the two windows. I stamped all of the images on Neenah white cardstock with MFT Natural Ink and colored them in with Copic markers and then used my glitter pens again to add details. I added little sprinkles to the donut with the glitter pens.
I attached all of the images to the front of the card over the transparency. I then stamped the word Hello from the Blissful Butterflies stamp set using Lawn Fawn Plastic Flamingo ink and then die-cut it out with the matching dies. I attached the word over the images as the salutation. I then placed blue and pink NEW seed beads in the top section behind the donut and I placed several other sequins in the bottom section - including Marshmallow 4mm and 6mm, Sparking clear Sequins mix, 3mm sparkling clear sequins, and 4mm droplets.
And that's it for today. The great thing about this cute stamp set is I can use it for the next holiday season too! I hope you enjoyed my two cards and don't forget about the new Pretty Pink Posh release coming on March 1st. I will be posting sneaks using it on my Instagram account over the next few days. Thanks for visiting! Suzy
