I finally finished another "one stamp, five ways" post to share with you! I've been a little busy lately, so I haven't had as much time to create. REALLY BUSY. With terribly important things. Ok, truthfully, I've become addicted to collecting sea glass and it's getting in the way of me blogging! I have lived by the beach for 20 years, but for some reason I didn't know about sea glass until about 2 weeks ago. And now I'm addicted. My daily beach dog walks have gone from an hour a day to about three! I know I have to come back to reality and be responsible, so this will NOT last. Ok, back to the blog post purpose! Here is the stamp set I'm highlighting today by Simon Says Stamp called "Love and Quotes":
I made five cards with it, but I didn't even use all of the stamps in the set - that P.S. i love you is super cute and I didn't get a chance to use it. But let's get started with my VERY colorful cards!
Card 1:
For this card, I created the card base with the heart stamps. I stamped the four sizes over and over with red and pink inks to create my own patterned paper. Here are the inks I used: Lawn Fawn Lobster Ink, Lawn Fawn Plastic Flamingo Ink, Lawn Fawn Guava Ink, and Hero Arts Bubblegum Ink. They all four have such nice coverage on the Neenah White Cardstock!
I stamped the sentiment in the stamp set with the Plastic Flamingo Ink first and then used the Lobster red ink around the edges of the stamp and stamped again. I think I mentioned I didn't have a Misti until recently and I can't understand how I ever lived without it. It helps with multiple stamping images like I did here. I die-cut a stitched rectangle using the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle Dies. To make it stand out more against the background, I matted it with red cardstock. I layered them onto the card front. I finished it with some Pretty Pink Posh red sequins in 4mm and 6mm sizes.
Card 2:
This might be my favorite card as it is a little crazy. I wanted to do a watercolored background with my distress inks as I haven't used them in a while. I started with a piece of Ranger watercolor paper die-cut to card size. I then put water on the paper (in the design shown). I applied the inks one by one to create a rainbow. I added a couple of layers to build up the color and let it mix between them. The five Distress Ink colors I used are: Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron, and Mermaid Lagoon.
I embossed the two heart stamps for the sentiment and several of the smaller hearts using Versamark Ink and Ranger white embossing powder. Now, you could do this step before the painting OR after the painting. I think I did it before. If you do it after, the colors stay more white. If you do it before, you have to wipe the paint off the embossed areas. The last thing I did is add some Pretty Pink Posh sequins in each color of the paint (Raspberry, Tangerine, Marigold, Fresh Mint, and Aquamarine).
Card 3:
I die-cut two pieces of Ranger watercolor paper - one full card size and one two sizes smaller using the Simon Says Stamp Rectangle Dies. I painted the larger one with bright pink watercolor (opera pink) and I painted strips on the smaller one with blue watercolor. I stamped the word LOVE over and over on the stripes using Lawn Fawn Fish Tank Ink (I stamped it first each time on scratch paper so it is lighter - you can see where I didn't stamp it on the bottom of the card and it is darker - oops). I flicked some bright pink paint on the blue stripes as well.
I stamped the words on white cardstock with Pink Flamingo Ink and then I stamped the smaller you heart with Fish Tank ink (stamped first on scrap paper so it was less intense). I cut around the large heart and attached it to the front of the card. I glued some twine around the outside to give it an edge. Last, I applied some Tonic Morning Dew Crystal Drops to the front. Note: I AM IN LOVE WITH THESE. They are so cool! And when you add them over ink (like in the blue area), they take on that color since they are clear. They are a fun alternative to sequins and now I need them in every single color - ahhhhh!
Card 4:
I started this card by die-cutting a piece of Ranger watercolor paper with a large stitched rectangle. I watercolored it with Distress inks with Mustard Seed on the top, Carved Pumpkin in the center, and Candied Apple on the bottom. I wet the paper first before dropping in the color so they all blended together (wet on wet technique). I stamped the hearts randomly on the background using Lawn Fawn Sunflower ink on the top, Carrot in the center, and Lobster on the bottom. For some hearts, I stamped first generation and for some second generation (meaning stamped them twice so the color is less intense on some).
I die-cut a stitched oval using the Simon Says Stamp dies out of white cardstock. I stamped the sentiment with Sunflower Ink. Then I used my Kaiser Craft Glitter pens OVER the ink in three colors - red on the top, orange in the center, and yellow on the bottom of each letter. They really glitter in real life! I used some of the Nuvo clear drops on this one as well. I added a heart paper clip from my February Simon Says Stamp card kit (by Doodlebug) to the top of the card.
Card 5:
I die-cut a full size stitched rectangle from Ranger white cardstock. I watercolored it by first applying lots of water and then dropping in some pinks and reds. I kept it fairly light in spots and used most of the color around the outside edges. I die-cut the hearts using the Simon Says Stamp Hearts Align Dies. I die-cut them out of red cardstock, white cardstock, and watercolor paper which I painted pink. Then I layered them to create the border and attached it to the bottom center of the card (I had to cut off the heart on the far right).
I die-cut two MFT Rounded Stitched Rectangles from white cardstock and red cardstock. I stamped the sentiment on the white one using a layer of Plastic Flamingo and Lobster inks. I attached the rectangles overlapping tucked behind the heart border. I added three Pretty Pink Posh sparkling clear sequins OVER Nuvo Ruby Slipper Glitter Drops (loved how it worked as an adhesive, but also showed the glitter through the sequins).
And there you have it. And with that, I wish you ALL a HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! Get busy making cards because this holiday is all about the love! Now if I can just remember to give mine out! Thanks for visiting! Suzy
Beautiful cards again!! Love all the colors you used. Your cards are always so bright and colorful! Sea glass! What does that look like and how easily can it be found? Is that what was in the movie Sweet Home Alabama? I thought that was just made up for the movie! Have fun hunting for that!

Love card number two, in all it's watercolor glory. Great ideas for using one stamp set.
