"One Stamp, Five Ways" - SSS An Arctic Christmas

Hello friends! While I want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving week, I also want to say, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Today's post may just get you a little in the holiday mood! I will be using the Simon Says Stamp An Arctic Christmas stamp set:

When I first looked at this set, I didn't think I could use it for one of these posts as it has just one main image. I was totally interested in coloring this cute scene, but I didn't know how to think of multiple techniques for it. So I just started playing with it for fun and then all these ideas popped into my head and this post was in progress! There are no dies to go with this stamp set, but they aren't really needed (at least not for the ways I used it). One big plus with the set is how many sentiments are included. Ok, let's get started!

This is my very straight forward image that I colored first. It is stamped with black ink on watercolor paper and painted in. I added details/glitter with my favorite glitter pens and Uniballs (links below). 

Steps:

1. Stamp the full image with black ink on the smooth side of Ranger white watercolor paper (my go to when I want a white background).
2. Paint in the image with your favorite choice of watercolors - I used my nice Daniel Smith ones for this. Add details with Kaiser Craft glitter pens and a white, silver, and gold Uniball marker. 
3. Stamp the sentiment on the top right side of the card using black ink (I used my new Mini Misti to stamp it as it took two stamps to get it fully black over the watercolor - I'm telling you, this is the best purchase I have ever made).
4. Die cut a large stitched rectangle (full card size) from white cardstock. Die cut an MFT Rounded Stitched Rectangle from the center creating a frame.
5. Attach the frame over the image and attach all to a red card base.
6. Add some red sequins and some Lawn Fawn Sweetheart twine to the top of the card.

This card is also stamped with black ink on watercolor paper, but this time I colored in the images with my Zig Clean Color Brush Watercolor Markers. They are dye based, so they give you a brighter more saturated look than watercolors in the above image. I created a shaker card so it appears they are playing in the snow and framed the scene with a stitched oval frame.

Steps:

1. Stamp the image with black ink on Ranger white watercolor paper. 
2. Paint the images in using Zig Clean Color Brush Markers. When using these, the color is VERY saturated, so use a little on the edge and move the color throughout the image. And be careful as when you use another color, they do bleed into each other easily. Add details (lots of dots here) with glitter pens and a white uniball. 
3. Stamp the sentiment in the top right corner with black ink (use the Mini Mister to stamp it twice so it is dark black).
4. Die-cut a large stitched rectangle from white cardstock (full card size). Die cut a Simon Says Stamp stitched oval in the center creating a frame. Attach a transparency to the backside of this piece.
5. Apply foam tape to the back of the frame. Pour a bunch of Pretty Pink Posh sequins over the image - I used their 3mm sparkling clear sequins, and multiple sizes from the Sparkling Clear Sequin Mix.'
6. Attach the frame over the sequins/scene. 
7. Attach the card to a kelly green cardstock base.
8. Add three large sequins to the top of the transparency.
9. Add some green twine tied in a bow on the top left corner.

This image was stamped with Versamark Ink and embossed with white embossing powder. I watercolored in the images. This created the lightest/softest scene. I framed the scene with a rounded rectangle frame.

Steps:

1. Stamp the image on Ranger white watercolor paper with Versamark Ink and emboss with Ranger extra fine white embossing powder. Also stamp some of the snow bubbles around the sky.
2. Paint the scene with watercolors (I used my Daniel Smith pallette, but any watercolors with work fine). I painted the sky a gray blue as if it is a cloudy snowy day. I used a white uniball inside the snowballs in the sky.
3. Die-cut a frame using the MFT Stitched Rounded Rectangle Frame Dynamics from watercolor paper and paint red to match the scene. Drop some water droplets on it to create texture.
4. Attach the frame over the scene and attach all to a kelly green card base.
5. Die cut a small banner (I used the Mama Elephant Tags and Frames die set) and stamp the sentiment on it. Attach to the top right of the card.
6. Add some Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins to the sky.

I made another shaker because this image just needs sequin snow around it! This time I cut part of the image out so the background doesn't have to be the same. I created a window and added another penguin to the top of the card so it appears he is looking out the window at the other penguins. 

Steps:

1. Stamp the image on white cardstock using black ink. Cut around the images - I cut out the tree with the three penguins around it and then the other penguin out separately. I cut right around the black outlines since there are other images I was removing (left no white borders). 
2. Color all of the images in with Copic markers and add details with glitter pens and a white Uniball.
3. Die-cut a large stitched rectangle (full card size) out of white cardstock. Die cut a border along the bottom using the Simon Says Stamp Scallop Stitches border dies. Stamp the sentiment on the bottom of this piece using black ink. 
4. Die-cut a circle out of the top center using the MFT Stitched Circle Scallop Frame die. Attach a transparency behind this circle. Add foam tape to the backside of this piece.
5. Attach a strip of pink to the bottom of a white card base. Attach a piece of watercolor paper painted with a sky blue watercolor under the window area of the card base.
6. Attach the images to the white card base based on where the frame will hit (position it without attaching).
7. Sprinkle some Pretty Pink Posh 3mm Sparkling Clear Sequins over the images. Attach the frame carefully over this piece. Attach the extra penguin to the bottom of the circle.
8. Add some Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling clear mix sequins to the top right and bottom left corner.

This image is stamped on white cardstock using MFT Natural Ink and colored in with Copics for a no-line coloring look. I framed it with a Mama Elephant Framed Tags Creative Cuts frame.

Steps:

1. Stamp the image on white cardstock using MFT Natural Ink. Stamp some stars in the sky. 
2. Color all of the images in with Copic markers. Add details with glitter markers and a white Uniball. I outlined the snowy parts with the silver glitter marker in the Kaiser Craft set or a silver uniball. I used a gold Uniball on the gold areas of the tree. I added lots of dots to the scarves and hats. I kept them all the same colors so the scene was less busy and more coordinated.
3. Die-cut a stitched frame from the Mama Elephant Framed Tags - Madison Avenue Creative Cuts die set (or any die-cut frame). Color the inside of the frame with the silver glitter pen or silver uniball.
4. Stamp the sentiment along the bottom of the frame with black ink. Add a star and color in with the silver glitter pen. Also color the stars in the sky with a silver glitter pen.
5. Attach the frame over the scene and attach the entire thing to a teal card base.
6. Add some Pretty Pink Posh 4mm clear droplets around the sky area.
