I need to start off by being honest here. I do not like Halloween. It is my least favorite holiday. It's dark. It's scary. It's not for me. Well, except the candy - I do love the candy. So I don't really make HW cards usually. But when I saw this Frightful Friends stamp set by My Favorite Things, my heart jumped a beat. I suddenly considered LIKING Halloween! The creatures in this set aren't frightful at all - they are just adorable! Now, this is my kind of HW stamp set! So today I am featuring the cute Frightful Friends stamp set and die set for my "one stamp, five ways" post.
I have five cards to share with you today, so let's get started! I must confess up front though that two of them look way too similar - I'll let you decide which ones (it was a creative accident!)
Do you see what I mean? This vampire isn't scary at all - he is CUTE! I used a no-line stamping/coloring method on him, but I did outline his eyes and mouth with a fine tip marker. I think this makes him look even funnier.
I used my new favorite Kaiser Craft glitter pens on him - you can see them on the red in this photo. Here are the steps I took to make it:
- Die-cut a stitched rectangle from white cardstock one size smaller than a card front (I use MFT Blueprints 13). Then die-cut a stitched opening in the center - you could use a circle or an oval or even a square if you don't have this shape. I used the Pretty Pink Posh Window Frames die here.
- Watercolor a scrap of paper in blacks to go behind this opening - I used mixed media paper and black watercolor.
- Stamp the vampire on white cardstock using MFT Natural Ink - I use this ink for all of my no-line stamping. Color in with Copics and add details with the glitter markers and Uniball markers (white and gold). Outline the facial features with a fine tip black marker.
- Stamp the fence twice and die-cut using black ink. I outlined it with the black glitter pen to make it sparkle (from the Kisser Craft glitter pens set).
- Die-cut a banner using MFT Blueprints 2 out of black cardstock. Stamp the Fangs For on one side and Everything on the other side with Versamark Ink and emboss with Ranger embossing powder. Attach to the bottom of the opening.
- Layer the two fence dies above the sentiment banner and the Frightful Vampire over the banner with foam tape under his head so he pops up.
- Add two stamped and die-cut bats to the top of the opening and attach all to a red card base.
Again, can you really say this cute Frankenstein is Frightful? He is so cute and was so fun to color! And besides, he'll love you forever. Literally.
Here are the steps for this one:
- Die-cut a stitched rectangle one size smaller than card base from Ranger watercolor paper. Paint with reddish-orange watercolor or gouache. Splatter water and extra paint on it for texture.
- Die-cut a Single Stiched Line Circle Frame by MFT from watercolor paper to fit on the front of the card. Die-cut another circle the same size out of white paper (I used a white wood grain paper). Die-cut a stitched banner out of MFT Blueprints 20. Paint the circle frame and the banner with green watercolor.
- Attach the white circle to the top of the card and the green frame over it. Attach the banner to the bottom of the card. Attach the entire piece to a white card base.
- Stamp the sentiment on the banner with black ink.
- Stamp the images on white yardstick with black ink and color with Copic markers.
- Attach all of the images over the circle as shown popping up his head with foam tape. Add some Pretty Pink Posh 4mm clear droplets around the circle .
This card cracks me up - gorgeous couple, don't you think? One of these images was stamped with no-line stamping and one with black ink as I didn't know I would be using them together - so please ignore that!
See how cute their faces are up close?!?!?! Here are the steps to take:
- Die-cut a stitched rectangle using MFT blueprints 13 and Ranger watercolor paper. Paint it black - splatter water on it while wet so the color is splotchy.
- Die cut a Rounded Stitched Rectangle from the center of this piece and then die-cut another out of white cardstock. Attach the rectangle to a white card base and attach the rounded white rectangle in the center.
- Die-cut a stitched banner using MFT Blueprints 2 out of white cardstock and stamp the sentiment on it with black ink. Attach this to the bottom of the rectangle.
- Stamp the images with black ink on white cardstock and color in with Copic markers adding details with glitter pens. Attach the images in the white framed space.
- Add some gray and white twine to the top of the card.
Yep, you guessed it - this one looks a lot like the first one. Don't know how that happened! So much for FIVE WAYS to use the same stamp - hahaha.
If you look close, there are subtle differences as you will see from these steps!
- Die-cut a stitched rectangle from patterned paper that has black and white stripes (I've had this one forever, but you could just paint stripes with watercolors if you don't have any paper). Die-cut a stitched circle from the center of this piece.
- Die-cut a Stitched Circle Frame from white cardstock and layer that over the circle.
- Stamp the images on white cardstock with black ink and color with Copic markers. Add glitter pens and see how awesome that red looks? I also used a white Uniball to add details. Attach all of the images to the card.
- Stamp the sentiment on the top of the card.
It's this funny little mummy lady again! I think she is supposed to be a mummy anyway, but I used her as a Frankenstein bridezilla!
See how cool that black glitter pen looks on her hair? I really think they make coloring SO MUCH better and they glide on like butter! This is NOT a paid announcement - I just like them that much! Ok, steps:
- Die-cut a scalloped frame from watercolor paper and paint with purple paint. I used the ones by Pretty Pink Posh, but MFT also makes a nice set here.
- Die-cut a stitched rectangle the size of a card front from white cardstock (I used Lawn Fawn large rectangle set). Then die-cut a Pretty Pink Posh Storybook 6 die from the center.
- Use a scrap of watercolor paper that will fit behind this opening in the card and paint it blue on the top and green on the bottom. Attach this behind the window on the card. Attach that entire piece to a white card base.
- Attach the purple frame over the windows.
- Stamp the lady and grass and fence and bat on white cardstock with black ink. Color with Copic markers. Attach to larger opening on card.
- Stamp the sentiment in the bottom window with black ink and add Pretty Pink Posh sequins to each side. Tie some black and white twine to the side of the card.
And there you go - a full shebang of SCARY HALLOWEEN CHARACTERS FOR YOU. After using these Frightful Friends, I almost like Halloween now! haha Happy Haunting to all and I hope your Halloween is filled with joy and not horror! Suzy

I do not like Halloween either....probably because our diabetic daughter could never eat the candy and I always felt sorry for her! We changed things up by paying her .10 cents per treat (because some people don't get it) anyway...love your spooky creations...but still not Halloween Lol!
