Today is the new Simon Says Stamp Believe in the Season holiday product release! I have a new set of 12 holiday watercolor cards as part of this release:
These are printed on Ranger Watercolor paper ready to be colored and attached to a standard size card base (as they are all 5.5" x 4.25"). I wanted you to be able to see them all in their finished versions, so I have watercolored each one and added some details to each to share with you.
My first card is primarily letters that say Jingle all the Way. I left the letters plain inside so you could add details yourself. I used my FAVORITE (as in how the heck did I live without this set for so long) glitter gel pens by Kaiser Craft. They come in a set of 12 and are bright and glittery and flow perfectly to add details over your coloring. I also used a white Uniball in my details as well. I painted the letters with watercolors and then added stripes and dots to each letter. I added shadows behind the letters with a C3 Copic Marker.
I die-cut the piece with the MFT Blueprints 13 rectangle so the card base would frame it. I used Glossy Accents over the ornament and the lights. I used some Ranger Stickles in Holly to add dots on the tree and in Christmas Red to the berries. I also re-outlined the letters with the black glitter pen in the set mentioned. Last I added some sparkling sequins by Pretty Pink Posh and attached this to a blue card base.
I die-cut this card with the rectangle in MFT Blueprints 13 as well (love this size that is 4" x 5.25" so 1/8" shows on each side). I painted this card with watercolors first (just one color of red and green was used here). I flicked some of the paint on the background. I added Red Stickles to the berries and smeared a little on the bow and the word Joy so they are shiny and glittery. I used the C3 Copic Marker to add shadows behind the letters. I attached all to a red card base.
For this card, I die-cut with the MFT Blueprints 13 stitched rectangle - I purposely made these designs a little smaller this time so most can be die-cut with a smaller rectangle so the edges of a card can frame them. I colored this one with Copic markers which work just fine on the watercolor paper. I added some sequins over some of the berries and in the middle of the stars. I shadowed the letters with the C3 Copic Marker. I used a silver glitter pen from my pen set mentioned above for the top of the ornaments. I attached to a red card base.
I like this one - it cracks me up! I try to add some silly kid friendly type as well as some that are more whimsical and last some that are classy or sophisticated. This one definitely fits in the first category! I watercolored this one and added details with my glitter pens and white Uniball. On the snow, I painted with my Daniel Smith clear glitter paint so it is glittery - but you could also add this sheen with a Wink of Stella pen. I outlined the letters on the sign with the black glitter pen. I die-cut with the MFT Blueprints rectangle and attached to a light blue card base.
Again, I die-cut this one with the MFT Blueprints 13 rectangle. I painted this one with Gouache paints so the colors are a little more opaque than watercolors. (oh how I love my Holbein gouache set from Amazon). I added details with my glitter pens and white Uniball. I added water to the background first and then dropped the pink paint into the water along the edges of the tree so it seeps outward. I used Glossy Accents over the ornaments. I added some 4mm PPP sequins around the tree.
I think this one is my favorite. I cut it out of the original watercolor paper around the scalloped border. I painted this one with watercolors. I added details with glitter pens and the white Uniball. I loved adding designs on the scarf I used gray paint to shade the white areas of the snowman and painted the sky blue. I attached it to a shimmery cardstock base. I stamped BELIEVE using the new stamp set with Versamark Ink and embossed with Wow Bluetiful embossing powder. I cut around the edges and attached it over the snowman. I stamped the words "in love" below the word from the same stamp set using black ink. There is also a believe die that you can purchase that is part of this release, but I didn't have it to use. I added some sequins and some white dots with Ranger Icicle Glitter Glue.
This one is my all time favorite colors! I painted this with Gouache, added details with glitter pens, die-cut with a stitched rectangle, attached to a card base, and added sequins - same every time haha! The only thing to mention on this one is i purposely painted inside the letters leaving a slight white border - I think it looks more interesting that way. Be gone perfection! Also while the paint is still wet on the background dot some additional paint on it so it runs a little for an interesting background.
And here we have some traditional Christmas in both design and colors! I painted this with watercolors and did all the same as every one above! The only thing to mention on this one is I added little lines to the fabric of his coat with the red glitter pen - I told you I couldn't live without these! I like the texture it adds. I added some twine to this card as well. I outlined the letters with both the silver and the black glitter pens.
I die-cut this one to the be the size of a card base using the Lawn Fawn large rectangle set. I attached it to a red card base. I watercolored the images and then added details with the glitter pens. I colored the title letters in with the red glitter pen and outlined the word Merry with the same pen. I added shadows with the C3 Copic Marker. I used Glossy Accents over all of the ornaments for extra shine and texture. I used Ranger Silver Stickles.
I painted this one with watercolors and used Gold Gouache around the outside edges of the stocking. I die-cut it with a stitched rectangle. I outlined all of it with the black glitter pen. I added some sequins. I attached it to a sparkling green cardstock base.
Die-cut, painted, attached to green card base, added details, blah blah blah. haha I did add some Ranger Stickles glitter to the background that I think look really good. I also used my Zig Clean Color Markers to paint this one and then they easily blended into the background with some gold Goache.
This time I cut the watercolor card out around the edges and attached to a Kraft yardstick base. I painted the images - no new details for this one. I added some twine to finish it off.
Thanks for visiting today - I hope you like this new set of cards. For $9.99, I think they would make the perfect gift for yourself or someone on your Christmas list. Throw in some watercolor markers with any of the my sets (links on the left side) for gift exchanges. I love drawing these cards and it makes me so happy to see others using them. Tag me if you post any on social media! Have a great day and see you back tomorrow for a Simon Says Stamp blog hop! Suzy

Suzy, I love the way you utilized the background stamp on several of your cards, especially since it reminded me of the header on you Blog (with all the swirly shapes). All your other samples are great and show a wonderful variety of what is available in this release.

These are all beautiful Suzy! Congratulations on your designs! I have some of these cards that I got last year from Taylored Expressions and I am just now getting them coloured. (I am at the hosp. a lot sitting with my Dad and I take my colouring.) You are right, they make an AWESOME gift for someone (or yourself) as they are small and they "travel well"!

These are fantastic! Suzy I'm so happy you share your talents with us. What dedication it takes to not only color these in in your own wonderful style, but to also take the time to share the details of what you did to make them look fabulous, too! I'm in awe. I really like the designs. Those glitter pens seem to be fabulous, too. Thanks for that tip. Wonderful work. Wow! :)
